  • "This is a lovely cottage and is very well equipped."

The owners Ali and Simon are very friendly and helpful if you need advice. The spiral staircase might be a challenge if you aren't very mobile. Our dog wouldn't go near it which was just as well as dogs aren't allowed upstairs! There are brilliant walks within a short car drive and some round Doveridge which are fairly close to the cottage. The nearby Cavendish Arms have a limited menu but the food we had was excellent. I would definitely recommend this cottage and area.

A beautiful little cottage in a stunning location. Plus all the little extras the owners had included to help make our stay that little bit extra special. Beautiful flowers, bottle of milk, tea/coffee and home made biscuits were an absolute treat. We would definitely recommend the property to our family and friends and hope to return again one day.

The barn conversion has been well designed and carried out; I appreciated the design of the mezzanine bedroom and spiral stair. It's nice to find a holiday place with a decent frying pan and proper kitchen knives. The only problem is that my wife now wants a shower like that one in Kipper's Corner bathroom..

Thoughtful finishing touches throughout, with a gorgeous bouquet of hand picked flowers - even had milk in the fridge, ice in the freezer egg cups in the cupboard so we had dippy eggs for the first time in years! Best getaway especially as it was our anniversary weekend and wish we could have stayed longer. Highly recommend for comfort and helpfulness, as well as the massive bathroom and underfloor heating (we’d turned it all off as it was warm) so will definitely want to visit again in the winter! Thanks so much for a lovely romantic stay in such an adorable place!

  • "The cottage is located not far from the A50 which allows you easy access to Stoke on Trent and the surrounding villages as well as the Peak distict, (please note we did not hear any noise in the cottage from this road)."

There is off road parking shared with the owners of the cottage and reversing into the parking space is advised. The rooms in the cottage are of an ample size, very clean and modern. There was everything we needed for our stay except for a torch which would have been handy for when we walked the dog in the evening down the dark lane. Just a little note for dog owners. The cottage sits directly on a country lane so walking your dog can be a little difficult due to the traffic which on occasions zooms down the lane. I would honestly say that maybe this cottage is not quite suitable for dogs for this reason. The owners of Kippers Corner are lovely and made us feel very welcome, the fresh flowers and home made biscuits were very much appreciated. Would we stay here again - definitely.

  • "We stayed for a week during cold weather at the beginning of April."

Unfortunately the underfloor heating was not working properly and despite several attempts by the owner to fix it, the problem was still unresolved by the end of the week. The owner lent us an oil filled portable radiator and refunded part of our holiday costs. A gentle word of warning to dog owners. Dogs need to go out - if only for a few minutes - first thing in the morning and last thing at night. There was no access to nearby fields and the nearest footpath involved a walk down the lane dodging onto the verges every few minutes to avoid fast traffic. Would also dispute the description of peace and quiet. The only time we were warm enough to open the bedroom window at night, the continuous roar of traffic from the nearby A50 was intrusive. Perhaps it depends what one is used to. An airing rack in the bathroom would be useful for drying bath towels after showers. And a chair in the bedroom perhaps. Sadly, Kippers Corner did not work for us. However, we could see the potential for a comfortable stay for non dog owners if the heating was fixed. The cottage was well equipped and the furniture was comfortable.

Thank you for your feedback which we will use to improve the service we offer to our guests, for instance the suggestion of a chair in the bedroom. We live on a country lane which is a recognised national cycling route (549). It is quiet most of the time however, there can be some traffic around rush hour and an increase in farm vehicles at hay making and harvest time. There is an electrically heated towel rail in the bathroom and hooks on the back of the door but we can make a rack available if required. Unfortunately, we could not manage to get an electrician to attend until the eve of your departure. He confirmed there was no fault with the heating but we have replaced two programmable thermostats with manual ones to make adjustment easier. Planning permission meant we could only have electric heating and it is a feature of underfloor heating that it takes several hours before a change takes effect. We offered a refund part way through your week so that you might make alternative arrangements and made a cash refund on the evening prior to your departure, we found after you had left that you had kindly returned half of the money along with the key. Thanks Again, Kipper’s Corner owners. Property Owner
