The property

A spacious and welcoming six bedroom house set in 1.4 acres on the outskirts of Buxton.

Dating back to the 1920s, this wonderful former family home is superbly equipped to entertain groups of friends or an extended family gathering.

There is a welcoming feel as soon as you step through the front door as you head into the designer kitchen, complete with a breakfast bar.

There is also a dining room set just off the kitchen so you can gather together for a scrumptious meal.

Aeolus features a variety of social areas with a beautiful sitting room with quality furnishings, beautiful wooden flooring and French windows opening out to the decking area where there is patio furniture and a hot tub where you can have a soak and watch the sun go down over the distant rolling hills.

To the other end of the house, you will find your way into a cosy snug with comfortable chairs and a woodburning stove for a breakaway group of four to sit and catch up.

Beyond this is a third sitting room which is a great place to take a book from the bookshelf and sink into one of the sofas in front of the flame fire.

On the first floor, as well as the six lovely bedrooms (one of which has an en-suite double bath) there is a fully equipped gym with a glass wall looking over the gardens.

The signature feature of Aeolus is without a doubt the indoor heated swimming pool and there is also a sauna to ease away those aches and pains after a hard day visiting the local attractions.

The pool room also features a soundbar for extra entertainment.

Connecting the pool room to the stunning gardens is an orangery with yet more lounge seating for the perfect outdoor experience whatever the weather.

You could choose to sit in the sun on one of the patios and take in the stunning views or dine outside with a refreshing glass of wine.

The more energetic may take advantage of the quality tennis court or the fantastic play area for the little ones.

Golfers will be keen to discover that there is a gate that leads straight onto the local golf course.

The quaint spa town of Buxton is also just a short distance away with a variety of amenities including the theatre, restaurants, inns and shops and the wonders of the Peak District are right on your doorstep.

Tideswell 7 miles; Bakewell 12 miles; Matlock 21 miles.

It was the constant 28 degrees centigrade of the bubbling blue waters of Buxton's eight thermal springs that originally attracted the Romans to the town. However it was during the 18th and 19th centuries, under the patronage of successive Dukes of Devonshire, that the Palladian splendour of the Buxton of today was designed and built - including the magnificent semi-circular Crescent, The Great Stable, Hall Bank, The Square, The Pavilion Gardens and The Opera House. Today visitors continue to enjoy these magnificent buildings and gardens, as well as the Opera House's full programme and annual festivals of music and arts. There is good walking close by with rugged peaks to the north and gentle hills and dales to the south and a number of pretty towns and villages are dotted throughout including Bakewell, Ashford-in-the-Water, Castleton and Edale. The stunning properties of Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are within easy driving distance and must be seen while visiting this area. A great base for exploring the Peak District.
