  • “WHAT A GORGEOUS FIND”
I think my friends and I were blown away by the amazing cottage and gardens. The interior was simply fab and so very modern especially in the kitchen and bathrooms. If I could give this cottage 10 stars, I would. It was so clean and the beds were extremely comfortable with good quality bed linen and pillows. I usually take my own pillows when I go away but left mine in the car as the ones provided were fine. I know it's a little point but I have been to so many hotels and guest houses were ...
I know it's a little point but I have been to so many hotels and guest houses were you wouldn't even want the pillows in the bedroom, never mind laying your head on them. The bathrooms had everything you could possibly need and were spotless. We all decided to take it in turns to cook for the 3 days we were there and it was a pleasure to do so in such a well equipped kitchen. On arrival the owners had left us a fresh cake and a couple of bottles of wine. There was also the essentials such as cooking oil, sugar, foil, cling film etc etc. Nice little touches. The gardens were immaculate and there was plenty of room to eat al fresco, with tables and chairs already outside. The driveway was ample and took our 3 large cars very well. There is absolutely nothing to criticise about lea hay at all. We met the owners who were lovely and they asked if there was anything they could do to improve the cottage. We all agreed it was perfect. Thank you so much to carol and joey (carol's daughter) for the obvious hard work they have put into creating such a wonderful home for people like us who wanted a very relaxing break in an wonderful environment. Best wishes from us all, bill, carol, nigel, dee, paul and diana.

The property

An absolutely superb four bedroom cottage in the centre of the village of Elton in between Matlock and Bakewell.

All bedrooms can be configured as twins or doubles so this extremely versatile cottage is ideal for four couples, eight individuals or any group formation.

The cottage is finished to a very high standard with a tasteful mix of contemporary and restored period architectural pieces.

The modern designer kitchen features a very high end range and is perfect for preparing a feast to be enjoyed in the lovely dining room featuring double French windows out to the garden.

The spacious sitting room has a woodburning stove and provides a comfortable and cosy retreat at the end of the day.

Two of the bedrooms and a bathroom are on the ground floor which is ideal if there’s a member of the group who doesn’t get on with stairs.

Both feature patio doors out to a sheltered courtyard area with fabulous views and the stunning bathroom includes a luxurious roll-top bath as well as a large separate shower.

Two further bedrooms on the first floor are equally luxurious as are the two designer shower rooms.

There’s also a little quiet reading area on the landing.

The beautifully manicured lawn is a fantastic place for the kids to play and the owner has left plenty of garden toys to keep them occupied.

For the adults, the cottage is pitch side to the local cricket club and what could be more quintessentially English than taking tea on the lawn and watching the game with the sounds of leather on willow and cries of “howzat?”.

Tear yourself away and you have lots of choice to fill your days, with beautiful Winster one mile away and Bakewell and Matlock five miles in each direction.

A stunning property in a fantastic position to enjoy the Peaks any time you are lucky enough to go.
