  • "The Priory was a great place through and through."

Everything we needed during our stay seemed to be catered for. The wood burner served its purpose throughout the week, providing a cosy evening after our days wanderings. Bedrooms well equipped, excellent bathing facilities and having a washing machine to launder our dirty walking clothes was a bonus, too. Overall, I would highly recommend this accomodation.

Felt warm and comfortable at a cold time. Very clean and lots of little thoughts around the cottage which made the stay excellent. Parking only issue , parked in village away from road outside cottage

  • "Really enjoyed our stay at the Priory."

Monyash is a very peaceful village with lots of good walking and a good location relative to Bakewell, Buxton, Dovedale etc. The Priory was exceptionally well equipped and had a really nice bathroom and kitchen. It was spacious and clean. The front garden, although small was nice for our son to let off a little steam and we could walk to the cafe, pub and playpark. The cows being hand reared just behind the cottage didn't bother us and provided extra entertainment. I guess they aren't there most of the time. We appreciated the maps and guides which were provided.

  • "We all enjoyed our stay at The Priory."

We slept well in very comfortable beds but two of our party, in their eighties, would have appreciated a firm armchair in the sitting room. A grab rail, for safety reasons, would have been valued in the shower, but otherwise we had a delightful holiday and would highly recommend the cottage

Lovely pub in the village (closed on Tuesdays though). The cottage is well maintained. Dan, who looks after the cottage was very helpful when the element in the oven failed and managed to replace it on the same day!

  • "We had a fabulous Christmas as The Priory."

A lovely surprise to find a christmas tree, too. Cottage was cosy and well equipped. The TV isn't the most modern but there are loads of dvds and videos so we didn't miss streaming at all - and the wifi was great.Loads to do in the area. Really recommend the Lathkill Dale walk. We'd happily come again at any time of year! Note for owner, could use a coffee table to avoid potential spills to the carpet of having to put drinks on the floor.

  • "Already left a suggestion of new tap washers in kitchen and upstairs bathroom to save the owners water and most of all money."

The property was everything we expected and more, so cosy and the welcome packs were much appreciated. The open log burning fire was a treat and the heating kept us warm. Local pub fed us with superb food an offered good company. Local attract actions in Bakewell and Buxton well worth a visit. We visited the Artisan Christmas Fair at Haddon Hall, well worth the visit and the small price of parking/entrance fee. Would imagine in summer the area would be busier but the cottage would definitely offer a peaceful retreat. As a family we have agreed to return sometime in the future.

  • "A perfect cottage in a lovely village."

Spotlessly clean and Dan, the housekeeper was on hand for anything needed. Bed was REALLY comfortable and the evenings spent with fire lit in log burner were very cozy. The only one thing we would say, and it certainly didn't detract from the stay in any way, is maybe have a nest of tables in the the living room rather than just the one so you have a table for drinks whichever sofa you're sat on. It's a small thing and still doesn't stop us giving the cottage 10/10. We will be back for sure.

The house was exactly as described on the website and very well equipped, perfectly clean and very comfortable. Monyash is well positioned to visit many sites in the Peak District and beyond. If we return to the area on holiday I would not hesitate to book the Priory again.

The cottage was both clean and very comfortable and the owners had obviously thought of every facility.in addition they had provided many extras including a delicious bakewell tart - thank you. The cottage is located in the lovely village of Monyash, half way between Buxton and Bakewell, so great for exploring the Derbyshire Dales and a visit to Chatsworth House.

  • "The cottage was truly lovely."

Fully fitted kitchen with plenty of space to sit and eat. We cooked most of our evening meals in the cottage. The sitting room was a good size with two decent leather sofas. The tv was sufficient for the size of room and has an HDMI port to connect a laptop or smart device if the TV or provided dvds don’t appeal. We left an HDMI cable behind as a present for the cottage as there wasn’t one there when we stayed. The location is superb being equidistant(ish) between Buxton and Bakewell. Parking is on the street and because of farm traffic would advise parking up onto the pavement. We had a superb time and when we come back to the area in the future we will certainly consider booking the Priory again.

  • "The cottage is beautiful and very well equipped."

As a family of five it did mean 2 daughters had to share a double bed and they would have preferred single beds. However, I did know on booking this was the situation. The cottage did have a taint of damp, which, considering it’s an old building is understandable but was slightly off putting on arrival. Location is fantastic, the village is quintessential Peak District and I would recommend this cottage to friends and family.

  • "Sykes advised taking everything with us due to Covid,e."

G.books, DVDs, tea towels, oven gloves, hand wash, sanitiser etc. There was no need - everything was there including all the above, plus cushions, throws etc. No need for future visitors to load up with all these extras. Also, Sykes said I should phone the housekeeper,Gill, for key code and would need to scan QR code on arrival. Gill was surprised by my phone call, said there was no need as she always texted visitors with all details (which she then did, including lots of useful information about the area) and was puzzled by the QR code request, assuring me that there was no such code at the cottage and that she had all our necessary information anyway. The cottage was spotless, well equipped and everything totally safe, including new and replacement toilet rolls, kitchen rolls etc., all completely wrapped in plastic bags. We were a little surprised on arrival to find no rear garden/access, only a farmyard with livestock and enormous tractors and farm machinery outside our rear windows. Although a surprise it didn’t worry us as my husband was raised on a farm. Parking outside on ‘lane’ was fine but we weren’t aware the lane was a main road from Bakewell to Ashbourne, and therefore pretty busy. We did enjoy our stay, despite bad weather, and would heartily recommend the property, and the Bull’s Head pub a two minute walk away, with excellent food and groaning plates!
