Clean, tidy and comfortable. Having an ensuite and main bathroom is always a bonus. Eyam was also a very convenient base for the areas I wanted to visit. The local pub 'Miners Arms' was perfect. Excellent pub food and great beer :-).

We really enjoyed our stay. Our only suggestions are 1. more hooks for towels in the bathroom / en suite since wet towels can't be put on electric radiators 2. A second set of keys.

Having recently had hip surgery myself and for the safety of people using the showers, the addition of some grab rails in both the shower and especially over the bath would make things much safer. The door key to the apartment was a nightmare, it appears that the key needs to be re - cut.

But unable to get internet connection which was very inconvenient. Also long black hairs on the shower caddy and the bath mat which made me question the cleanliness, especially with the pandemic! Overall enjoyed the stay. Great location in a lovely village.

  • "The Apartment was absolutely GREAT, extremely CLEAN and in a PERFECT Location!"

The rooms were all spacious and well laid out, there were plenty of utensils in the Kitchen, couldn't think of anything we needed and didn't have. We would absolutely recommend this Property and will definitely be returning at some point in the future. The village of Eyam is also beautiful. Walks literally from the doorstep, as is the pub which serves amazing food. Everyone we met was so friendly. Couldn't fault the location or the accommodation! Thank you all for a WONDERFUL weekend!

  • "The property is very clean, warm and comfortable and very well equipped."

It is within walking distance of a pub offering good food and a couple of nice cafes. There is also a museum in the village which is well worth a visit as is the church. Walking round the pretty village you are immersed in its intriguing history. Within easy reach is Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and Bakewel to name a few as well as all the beautiful countryside. We would like to mention that the parking space is very tight but you can safely park in the road which is very quiet. Alternatively if one car parks in their space and the other parks behind their space that works OK. We would definitely like to stay in Jay's Nest again.

  • "The common area of stairs and halls were very dirty until I e-mailed the owner."

Car parking is cramped and likely to cause damage to car doors. Disapointed not to have outside table/chairs in the event of nice weather. Advertising under 'cottages' gives wrong impression. Owner giving threatening notice of payment for lost keys.

  • "Great central location in the village of Eyam with an off road reserved parking space."

The pre-arrival instructions were very clear, particularly with regard to obtaining and using the keys. You entered via a communal outer door and climbed one flight of stairs to the apartment entrance. There were two properties on this level, Jay's Nest being the first (number 2) and one further along the landing. A nice entrance hall inside leading into an open plan area containing the kitchen, lounge and dining. It was very modern, clean and well appointed. There were numerous books, a few games and puzzles and lovely big TV (for a change as many cottages often only seem to offer small ones). Upstairs had two bedrooms, one double en-suite and the other a twin. Separate bathroom. Storage heaters were adequate for our stay and could even be adjusted as needed (or not). As it was Xmas week the owner even put up a small tree and other seasonal items which was thoughtful. We could not have asked for a more cosy place and the reclining sofas were a real treat after a good days walk. We managed three walks straight from the door meaning we did not use the car at all during our 4 night stay (although it looked like they had a good bus service should we have needed it). Overall very impressed and would recommend as a good base, not just for seeing Eyam (there is lots to do) but also the surrounding area.

Previous guest's commented that the accommodation felt like home from home and those were our feelings also. We had the use of a modern well equipped kitchen area and comfortable seating to relax in front of the smart T.V. It is good for visiting towns and villages locally and great if you like putting on walking boots and getting out in the countryside.

  • "A very pleasant flat nicely located in the small village of Eyam."

On site parking, free wifi, smartTV, good selection of dvds and books as well as a variety of leaflets for things to do in the surrounding area. Good water pressure in both showers, beds that we found comfortable (firm matresses). Modern kitchen and appliances with a 'welcome' pint of milk in the fridge. Tea/coffee/sugar available, as well as all the kitchen utensils we needed during our stay. (No plastic plastic plates/cups/bowls/cutlery for small children, so we brought our own.) There were no dishwasher tablets or spare toilet rolls, which I brought to the attention of the owner, so this hopefully wont be an issue for future visitors.

Lots of great walks from the doorstep and just 2 minutes walk to the local amenities, shop, tea rooms and pub, 5 minutes to the museum and craft centre. Bakewell and Chatsworth are both just a short drive away and made for fabulous days out. Everyone seemed friendly and welcoming. Had no issues with the keys or locks, instructions were sent in advance and were easy to follow. Well worth a visit, would love to return in the summer.

About the location

EYAM

Bakewell 7 miles; Tideswell 5 miles.

Eyam is one of the best-preserved villages in the Peak District National Park, nestled at the foot of Sir William Hill, 800ft above sea level and is surrounded by the most glorious countryside. Historically the village is known as the famous 'plague village', as it went into voluntary quarantine when the plague was imported from London in 1665 and thus prevented the spread of the disease. There are many fine old houses in Eyam, and parts of the village have been kept as they looked several centuries ago, such as Eyam Hall, a beautiful 17th century manor house with delightful gardens, craft shops and tea rooms. Above the village lies Eyam Moor, a fine area for walking, with fantastic views across the Derwent Valley, with its many Bronze Age remains and monuments. Visit Bakewell (7 miles) a picturesque market town which holds a livestock market every Monday and the home of the world famous Bakewell Pudding. Explore the mysterious caverns of Castleton, the elegant spa town of Buxton or enjoy the many stately homes on offer including Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and Hardwick Hall, to mention a few. With Alton Towers, Britain's premier theme park, only a short drive away, this is an ideal base for all the family.
