“Great location and superb views and local walks.”

Lovely accommodation and great kitchen facilities. Top bedroom had a nice king sized bed and stunning views over the reservoir. Parking for two medium sized cars right outside was a big plus for us. The downstairs shower was handy also very powerful and hot! The stairway from the top bedroom down to the landing could really do with a bannister on the wall. Mirrors in the bedrooms would also be very useful, (this has been mentioned previously by other guests). The living room can only comfortably seat four persons (on 2x 2 seater sofas), despite the house being configured for five. Nor can the TV be seen easily by guests due to being tucked away. All said the five of us thoroughly enjoyed our holiday despite many attractions not being open as the countryside is so nice. The view up the road from Holme Moss was spectacular! PS... a special mention for the lady at number 3 who had a cup of tea on the doorstep with us and gave us lots of tips and advice about the area.

About the location

HOLMBRIDGE

Holmfirth 1.5 miles, Huddersfield 8 miles.

The small village of Holmbridge is situated just 1.5 miles from the traditional Pennine market town of Holmfirth, within the beautiful Holme Valley.

The village has two pubs, a cricket club, a convenience store, a church and its own vineyard which offers tours, tasting and great food.

In 2014 the Tour de France passed through the village and the challenging climb of Holme Moss is nearby.

Close by, the town of Holmfirth has old stone cottages, winding streets, parks, shops, bars, restaurants and the infamous music venue, The Picturedrome.

The Holme Valley hosts a number of festivals throughout the year including the now famous Festival of Folk (May), The Arts Festival (June) Food and Drink festival (September) and a great Music Festival (October).

These main festivals run alongside and with other smaller festivals and weekends, such as the Film Festival, The Macmillan Art Exhibition, the Christmas markets, The Scarecrow Festival and, of course, the big cycle race ‘Le Tour De Yorkshire’, this is a wonderfully cultural place to visit.

The town was made famous as the setting for the long-running comedy series Last of the Summer Wine.

The nearby Colne Valley is home to fictional Skelthwaite from the Where the Heart Is series and, within reach, is the wonderful Peak District National Park – the setting for many picturesque and breathtaking scenic views.

The town of Huddersfield and the bright lights of Manchester, Leeds and Sheffield are all within a short drive, making this an ideal base for exploring this exciting and exquisite area of Yorkshire..
