  • "My sister and I had booked Skei’s Place as a place to meet and catch up but also because it was dog friendly as we had three dogs between us."

We couldn’t have been more thrilled with Skei’s Place. The location is fantastic with an added bonus of secure fields for the dogs to charge about in. The accommodation was absolutely immaculate and the owners John and Sue had thought of everything. The bedrooms were really lovely with thoughtful little touches to add to its warmth. A real home from home! We really could not fault this cottage, we had an amazing time, both John and Sue were on hand to help or give advice if needed. I would highly recommend Skei’s place, great for dogs but also perfect without. I only wished we could have stayed longer but we will definitely be back! Amanda, Sue and dogs

  • "Lovely holiday home in stunning surroundings."

Nice friendly owners provided a nice welcome pack which was appreciated. ( the dogs loved the hand made doggie treats). A great location for discovering the Peak District attractions. Really nice to have a secure paddock for the dogs to have a safe runaround. Interesting to watch the dog agility sessions on site. A dishwasher would have been a nice bonus as would a window in the main lounge which we found was a bit dark with just a patio door to the secure garden so no natural light. Other than that, it’s a beautiful home which the owners must be proud of. It’s certainly well equipped and even the dogs were happy with the nice touches to make them feel welcome too. Feeding bowls, treats, doggie mats and a little room to dry off in comfortably. Highly recommended and thank you.

The owners really love their dogs and understand that we love ours too. There are two fields for the dogs to use, which are fully enclosed, and our dogs loved running through the tall grass each day. It really is a dog lovers retreat.

.. There's an outside tap and hose for washing muddy dogs, feeding bowls, towels, and leads are also provided for use should you forget anything..Even dog biscuits to keep them all happy.. We've visited three times now as it's just perfect for our Lab dogs, as well as having all the Dales to walk for us humans....5 stars from us.

  • "We had a great time."

Owners really know how to accommodate dog owners. The only thing I would say is that it advertises as having a dog wash. This is a garden hose(cold water) on the drive. This is not what I class as a dog wash. We own a touring caravan and go away a number of times each year. A lot of sites have 'dog washes' which are walk in bath style set up with hot water. Having said that we are hoping to return next year with our £40 voucher you sent.

  • "On arriving at Skei’s place, the cottage was set in lovely surroundings, off a busy main road, very secure all round , which was peace of mind having our dog with us."

On entering there was a vey useful boot room, which we found very useful having a dog, and being so muddy. On entering the kitchen there was a lovely welcome pack, which included a bag of treats for our rescue dog, which was a lovely touch. Our only disappointment was the cleaning let it down, especially the shower room, lots of hair on the floor around skirtings, and edge of the shower, the shower head obviously hadn’t been cleaned, to rinse my hair probably it was impossible, but gave it a good scrub to find it more powerful, not sure if it had been hoovered recently in the lounge, and remote control was dirty too. Having being on a busy road and no footpath, it was impossible , to go on a walk with a dog, you had to use the car. Our visit to Ashbourne was very disappointing, not what we expected due to being run down, and very little shops open.

John and Sue have thought of everything. Many extra touches, that we really appreciated. A raised comfortable warm dog bed, home made dog biscuits, grooming kit and toys. Also a hose to wash muddy paws. A paddock available for exercise. The general decor, and facilities for people also is excellent. I really appreciated the extra mile that John went to provide me with a foot stool, to elevate my feet while relaxing in the evening.

The other doggy facilities at the venue are great and our dogs love going there. The cottage is always clean on arrival and the owners are friendly and helpful, and listen if you have any concerns or suggestions. We visit twice a year and the only downside for us is the standard double beds that are smaller than we are used to.

We and our friends had a very comfortable stay there with our two dogs. The inclusion of access to the Paddock and Field to exercise your dogs is brilliant and we made ample use of those facilities. The Paddock is fenced and safe for them to roam off lead. The courtyard at the property is also very safe and again allowed the dogs to roam free. The gift of wine, biscuits for the adults and treats for the dogs was also very welcome, thank you. The owners should be very proud of what they have achieved here, everything you need is here and it is very clean and tidy. Nowhere is that far away and we did some great walks and visited the Tram Museum at Crich which was a great day out and excellent value for money.
