This stone-built detached cottage, a former smithy, is located in the small hamlet of Great Gate, close to Alton.

Lovingly furnished by its owners it retains many of the cottage's original features and offers beautiful accommodation for a family or couples looking to explore this area.

Walking into the open plan living area with its exposed beams, original lead windows, and quarry tiled floors you immediately appreciate the character and cosiness of the property.

The fireplace houses an electric fire ideal to snuggle up in front of on the comfortable settee after a busy day.

Stoke on Trent is a short drive where you can immerse yourself in the history of the potteries at The Potteries Museum and Art Gallery.

Alton is a delightful historic village in the heart of the wonderful Staffordshire countryside, and is of course famed for the thrilling Alton Towers theme park just a few minutes’ drive away. There are many walks in the area, and the pretty, traditional villages of Denstone and Cotton are within easy reach. Located on the edge of the Peak District, there is plenty to do in the area; the market towns of Ashbourne and Leek are easily accessible, the historic houses of Haddon and Chatsworth are within easy reach, and there are numerous walking, cycling and climbing opportunities. A wonderful part of the Peaks with plenty to do whatever the time of year.
