  • "We really enjoyed our stay at Latkill Barn."

It was very comfortable and I was extremely grateful to the owner for accommodating us at such short notice.

  • "Very nice location just outside bakewell The cottage is nice its just not very comfy, the sofas etc gave everyone back ache Going to the toilet in the night was a nightmare as the floorboards are very very noisy so expect to get woken up."

The shower is so small you can hardly turn around in it The shared outside area is not the best, could do with enclosing better so dogs cant escape Could do with new pans for the kitchen as they are very worn

  • "The barn is very clean, but needs updating badly."

The shower is way too small, my husband had to leave the shower door open because there was not enough room to close the door !! Also for 4 people there was not enough storage to put things away. Very disappointed. The 3 farm dogs were so agressive ,one actually attacked our dog and if the owner wasn't there to pull him off then it could have been an awful situation. They were able to get into the so called secure garden and 4 times they did poos, which we refused to pick up!! So you had to watch where you were walking. We couldn't open windows upstairs and the locks on the double doors going out to the garden need looking at. Also no long handled brush to use, we certainly weren't hoping to get down and brush with the dustpan and brush. Nearly all the places we've stayed in leave a drop of milk when you arrive. It's a nice touch. The owner seemed very nice and it's situated in a really good place .but we wouldn't stay there again.

  • "Great location for a short stay as it is about 1 mile from Bakewell."

Cottages are Ok, we stayed in Larkhill Suite. Cottage was too dark (wrong sort of lighting imo) for my personal liking, upstairs is cosy. The master bedroom has a roof window which could bring in lots of light if the owners didn't bolt the blind down as it was broken and instead of replacing it they just prevent it being used. Shower is tiny and a struggle to use. The sink had a leak which we reported and someone promptly came to fix it but after he left we did a test and was still leaking a little so we just put a bucket under it. My biggest bug bear of this place was the farm dogs. On the first night the kids were happily playing then got totally freaked out and upset by the dogs barking at them. The farm dogs seem to be allowed to run freely and poo wherever they want. The farm dog was seen pooing every morning, it was cleared up straight away after I called the owner but about 4 hours later if I didn't call rhem, what annoyed me is there is sign saying 'please clean up after your dogs'. Note; this cottage is on a working farm right next to the cow barn so you get the country smell and sadly 20+ flies inside daily. Overall we won't be here again

  • "Had a relaxing 2 day break."

Beautiful scenery on a working farm. Would love to see a more secure enclosure for our dogs, around the patio door. All outside area was shared between all the cottages, which is fine as long as there are responsible dog owners who go out with their dogs and just not shove them out the door, this would also prevent the farm dogs from accessing the same area. This would also make the cottage more private.

  • "Lovely little house and nice to see the animals on the farm."

Very clean. Very basic but adequate. Annoying that people didn’t pick up after their dogs in the grassy bit so have to be really careful where walk, but that’s down to the visitors. Walls in the two bedrooms had quite a few damp patches. We did go on the middle of winter, so don’t know if this improves in the better weather. Picture shows 2 , two seater sofas but there’s actually just one chair and one sofa, although I think this is supposed to be a 3 seater. Great place for visiting the nearby places of Bakewell and Chatsworth, both of which I would highly recommend at Christmas
