“Phoenix Loft was a wonderful place.”
Very quiet and peaceful. Parked right outside the flat. It was clean and comfortable. Great place to stay. Hosts were very helpful and kind. Would stay again
“Phoenix loft was a very comfortable place to stay, it has two problems which may make it prohibitive for some people, one is the stairs, so if you are not good on stairs book the downstairs apartment and the other is the very low beam inside.”
This is easy to get used to and to be honest you cant miss it so if you walk into it then maybe you need your eyes tested. Neither of these items are detrimental to the stay here. The loft is warm and inviting and has all the amenities you could want. Nicely decorated too. Very friendly farm cats and a lovely view all around the place. Owner was helpful and friendly, when the boiler stopped working this was seen to the same day and did not detract from our stay. Thank you John for our stay with you.
“The Host -John is fabulous, funny accommodating and helpful.”
He pointed out some great walks and was always willing to offer advise etc. The cottage is beautiful, comfortable and clean. The only thing that I think would help improve it further would be some kind of welcome pack -even if it was just the basics of milk, tea and coffee - would stay again
“Lovely country escape”
Was a very nice stay we had. It's cosy and lovely. The owners were welcoming and showed us a walk when we got there which is on their doorstep. It's a small town and we had fun perusing the charity shops. Although a selection of "books, games and DVDs" were advertised, there was only a couple of children's games, a few books and no DVDs, however when I inquired about this, the owners said that we were welcome to have a look at their own personal DVD selection. Also, I can't remember which one it was but either the digibox or the DVD player wasn't working but that wasn't too much of a problem.
“Beautiful area, enough space for two (plus dog).”
I enjoyed our time at Phoenix Loft. The area was spacious and plenty of room for me, my partner and our large dog. There is a field directly behind the property which extended right out and offered a bunch of opportunities for different lengths of walks. The kitchen has a fridge, mircowave, hob, oven, toaster, kettle etc (although I would open the window and door when using the oven and toaster as the fire alarm went off a couple of times). In order to get a hot bath you need to run the water slowly, but once filled it was roomy. This was our first time staying at a property like this, and we ran out of toilet paper on Sunday evening (meaning we couldn't buy some from sainsburys as it closed at 4), so when my partner asked for some he got the impression they weren't too happy about that. The ad asks for one well behaved dog, but if you take your dog watch out for the collie they have roaming free on site. My partner went to pet it and got bitten, it spends all day barking at you and stalking you and then went for my dog on our last day. There is also a little Jack Russell who is fine. Towels and bedding were provided which was good. We visited Linacre Reservoirs twice during our stay, it is only about 20 minutes away and a stunning place to visit. There is also a sainsburys close by for those essentials you're bound to have forgotten! I would stay again :-)
My family are in Sheffield , but we stayed at Phoenix loft , it was clean warm and perfect for our needs and our puppy was welcome , we shall certainly go again , lots to do in the area and beautiful walks , Defiantly a top place to stay and the owners are lovely very welcoming
“Our stay was at the Phoenix Loft was lovely!”
This wonderful, cozy cottage was our 'home base' while on holiday this past July. The kitchen/dining/living area is spacious and bright. The bedroom and bath, comfortable and clean. The kitchen area is well equipped, and there is a washing machine, ironing board and iron as well, each of which we were glad to have handy. The cottage is located at the end of a country road, with a hilltop view. It is on a quiet working farm, with expanses of green fields in the surrounding areas. There is a pub and a Sainsbury market within a short walking distance, as well as easy access to bus lines. This cottage is a perfect couples retreat, but also nice for small families. It is peaceful and quiet, warm and inviting. We recommend the Phoenix Loft to anyone planning a holiday in the Heart of England.

About the location
Chesterfield 6 miles; Sheffield 7 miles.
Dronfield is a Derbyshire market town with a history dating back to before the 1086 Domesday Book, and has a number of 12th century buildings which are still in existence. The town has a wide range of shops, pubs, restaurants and also a modern sports centre, and is surrounded by wonderful Peak District countryside where the walks are asking to be explored. Dronfield is situated between the Peak District National Park and the city of Sheffield while close by is the historic town of Chesterfield which is most notable for its famous crooked spire of St Mary and All Saints Church. The impressive Damflask, Agden, Dale Dike and Ladybower dams make for an interesting afternoon's ramble, while the attractive village of Hathersage (thought to be the inspiration for Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre) is also within easy reach and is home to a selection of shops, pubs and inviting eateries, plus an outdoor lido. There are many stately homes to visit including Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and Hardwick Hall, whilst the historic and ever popular town of Bakewell and the rest of the Peak District, are within a short drive.
