    Mr Coley

“The photos of the cottage do not show how near the property is to the owners or how the far side of the property is directly on the road.”

This didn't worry us at all as the owners were friendly without being intrusive but some may prefer to be more isolated. The master bedroom, though very cosy and well fitted, was smaller than anticipated and might not suit a very tall or larger person. However these are minor details and overall we were extremely happy with the layout, facilities and general warmth of the chapel conversion. There was plenty to do on the odd day we chose to remain inside which was good. We will definitely book ...

We will definitely book the same cottage for a return visit as it is perfect for visiting family. The two dogs were adorable and very friendly!

The property

This 19th century converted Methodist Chapel sits in the Derbyshire hamlet of Handley, overlooking the picturesque Ogston Reservoir.

This cosy, character-filled bolt hole serves as a heart-warming base for your Derbyshire getaway.

Enter the property through the fabulous original chapel door and arrive at an open-plan living room, brimming with period features and homely touches to make your stay one to remember.

The electric woodburning stove sits in a stunning fireplace to keep you warm on those chilly evenings.

A country cottage-style kitchen and dining area, equipped with all necessary appliances, completes the ground floor.

Head up the elegant, spiral staircase in the centre of the room and take yourself up to the first floor under the eaves, with the chapel's original wooden beams providing a sense of charm.

Both bedrooms; a double and a twin room, are thoughtfully decorated to make you feel right at home here at The Old Chapel.

Velux windows offer wondrous views of the surrounding area, the perfect sight to wake up to.

The property is topped off with a splendid family bathroom, where you can get ready in style for a night of food and drinks in the local White Horse Pub.

Revel in your surroundings by taking a seat on the lawned area to the front of the property; why not watch the sunrise with your morning coffee or the sunset with your evening glass of wine?
