  • "Superb property and the owners had thought of everything."

Extremely well equipped and comfortable. Spacious though still felt homely and cosy downstairs. Excellent [and very generous] welcome pack which we all enjoyed. We were three generations together to celebrate my 65th birthday and we were all equally happy with our surroundings. Great location - fabulous walks on the doorstep and great to be able to walk to the local pubs.

We are so pleased we were able to make your birthday celebrations so memorable for yourself and your family, In particular we are delighted you enjoyed the Welcome Pack, We hope we are able to welcome you back in the future. Property Owner

  • "We have just returned from our stay at Dove Meadows House with our family …."

6 adults, a 2 year old and 6 month old! There was plenty of space , the house was so well equipped and perfectly warm. The welcome pack was a real treat and when we need to help about an issue in the house Pete responded so quickly. A beautiful village to be in and to explore from. Just perfect for us, thank you!

Delighted the whole family were warm and snug in Dove Meadows and that we were able to offer support as you needed it. Thank you for enjoying the village and the welcome pack! Looking forward to seeing you again. Property Owner

  • "Dove Meadows House is a beautiful, comfortable, new build home with quality furniture, fixtures and equipment in abundance fot our party of 8 adult sized people, 1 toddler and an 11month old infant so it will easily accommodate10 adults."

A nice touch was the well thought out quality welcome pack with some basics and some luxuries and something for everybody from alcoholic beverages for the adults to bubbles for the kids. The owners Pete and Annie were very thoughtful and attentive and when we did contact them, they got back to us with answers very quickly. Being on the edge of an active development site made no or little impact as Dove Meadows House is on the village side of the development so when walking out and about we had very little interaction with the builders and any noise that they might have made was largely unnoticed. To summarise it's a great property in a lovely location and is serviced by very attentive owners. I'd love to go back in the summer when the many footpaths are a little less muddy but will I be able to get all the family together again for this?

We are so pleased all your family enjoyed both the space the house offers and the Welcome Hamper for all ages. Obviouly we were delighted to be able to provide answers to the questions you asked. Hopefully Dove Meadows House will become a memorable plce for you all and we look forward to seeing you again. Property Owner

  • "As a group we’ve been customers of Sykes since their outset."

This house has gone straight to the top of our list. We shall certainly be back. Immaculately presented and with everything you might need. We all stood and gazed at the empty pristine garage with its extra fridge and boot rack. Oh the joys of a new build. Plenty of storage everywhere including the garage. Comfy beds with spotless linen, large bathrooms. Kitchen/diner and bedrooms furnished beautifully. Building work at the rear but didn’t affect us in the slightest. We had very good weather and especially enjoyed sitting outside at the front looking out over fields. Location superb - just 200m stroll to Hartington centre. 2 pubs - preferred the Devonshire Arms. Several coffee shops we liked all of them including the one in the YHA hostel. Great walking routes available from said hostel. Hosts were very helpful both before and during our stay. Minor niggle for six vain women was that’s there’s no mirror downstairs! Fantastic place. Told all our friends and we will be back.

We were bowled over by your review and delighted our house and village made your annual event so memorable. At present we are seeking to include a mirror on the ground floor as you have suggested. We look forward to seeing you all again! Property Owner

Everything was really nice and well equipped. We enjoyed the rugby on the big tv! Thank you for a great stay. Only one small point, the en suite bathroom was fine temperature wise in the morning but a bit cool at bedtime.

Delighted you enjoyed your stay including the good view of the rugby! Thank you for your feedback. We will certainly review the temperature of the ensuite. Best wishes. Property Owner

About the location

HARTINGTON

Bakewell 10 miles; Buxton 10 miles.

Hartington, situated in the Dove Valley in the Peak District National Park, was an important market centre in the Middle Ages, having been granted a market charter in 1203. Today the ever-popular village boasts lovely tea rooms, a cheese shop, old curiosity shops, traditional pubs and a splendid market square where the stone-carved village pump, once an important source of water for the villagers, still stands on the green. The local bars stock local ales brewed at the Leatherbritches Brewery in Fenny Bentley and Whim Ales in Hartington itself. The former Hartington railway station, about a mile and half from the village itself, is now a picnic area and the converted track is known as the Tissington Trail, popular with both walkers and cyclists. Hartington is also a good starting point for walking along Beresford Dale, a beautiful place with its curiously formed cliffs and rocks. Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are both within a 20 minute drive, and Alton Towers is within easy reach.
