  • "Our holiday was awful , the photos of the shooting lodge on your holiday website ..."

Our holiday was awful , the photos of the shooting lodge on your holiday website does not portrait the current state of the lodge , your lodge photo is a least 10 to 15 years old , which can also describe the interior, there was a small bin in the bathroom which looked like it had not been cleaned for a very long time I have taken photos to prove it , the board you place your pots on was disgusting too I had to scrub it with salt and lemon juice picture to prove it , there was biscuit and bread crumbs in between the cushions of the sofa went I went to turn the cushions over to see if they a bit more comfy , the kettle was awful, had to clean the grill to do some toast , the duvet and pillow filling were cheap and nasty , so glad we took our own pillows then went out and bought some sleeping bags which we slept in for 6 days came home 1 day early, the owners never came to see us , I am 79 years old and didn’t want to go cleaning on my holiday, oh there was also when I moved the sofa cushion there was a spider web underneath with a spider in the middle of it , we chose there because I cant drive far as I am having a shoulder replacement next Wednesday, my husband is 80 soon and is partially sighted so fortunately thank goodness he couldn’t see everything , apparently they don’t have cleaners as well , and I bet you don’t do inspections , we can’t afford to spend money to waste like we are on a pension only and we have a spotless bungalow as we have a cleaner and live in a council property , I am truly disgusted, this will go further as the pictures you have on your holiday site is a fraudulent misrepresentation,

Following your review above, I am deeply saddened to read your comments, as you can see from our previous guest reviews your comments are completely out of character for my property with us often receiving 5* It's important to note that we honour our guests' privacy, hence we may not interact with all visitors during their stay. However, we are readily available by phone or in person, given our on-site presence. During your departure, you brought up several concerns to my husband. The wooden draining board is routinely waxed to maintain its quality, and what you perceived as debris was, in fact, the wax used to seal the timber's corners, which you then inadvertently scrubbed away. While one of the chopping boards had a minor stain, there were 4 other options available, including 3 brand-new boards in the drawer. Additionally, you noted small remnants at the base and bottom of the bathroom bin underneath the lining bag which could have easily been removed if you had mentioned it when we delivered logs to you part way through your stay. Your unequivocally negative experience, particularly considering your close proximity of 12 miles, is indeed surprising. As was your need to purchase sleeping bags. Your home is so close you could have returned to collect your own bedding or, again we would have been more than happy to swap these for you had we known. We do have spares. The duvet and pillows were in fact less than 3 months old and were bought from Dunelms. I am however confused as you must have brought the sleeping bags with you. You said you slept in them for 6 nights but you only stayed for 6 nights so obviously you didn't use our bedding at all? Our lodge, constructed 5 years ago with natural wood, deliberately retains its natural appearance through external weathering. Inclement weather during your stay may have prompted increased indoor time. Notably, upon departure, your initial description of our property as "disgusting" was unexpected, followed by your mention that it did not mar your holiday, and instead, you enjoyed the diverse bird sounds. Your decision to leave due to weather conditions, despite a 6-night stay, contrasts your prior comments about cleanliness and quality. Claire Upon your departure, we noted undried pots, waste in the bin, and crumbs on the worktops, contrary to your concerns about cleanliness. Property Owner

  • "This lodge needs a deep clean, fridge was dirty on arrival."

Very dirty sealant on the shower, dust and cobwebs everywhere especially around the windows, edges of the room and radiator in the bedroom. The decking needs a power wash and flower containers need plants renewing. The overall impression was that not much care is taken with the handover cleaning. Lodge was comfortable it it hadn’t been so dirty. Location was also good.

Thank you for your comments. The items you raised will be checked. If you had, however, spoken to us at the beginning of your weekly stay (not on check out) we could have resolved things for you, although I think your comments are quite harsh and not particularly factual. The sealant around the shower does need replacing and this will be completed immediately but I think everything else you have commented on are highly exaggerated. The fridge, and all of the lodge, is cleaned thoroughly after each booking. If it was as bad as you say I am amazed you stayed for the full week to be honest. We have, as you know, had a very dry spell and yes some of our plants have suffered in one of the containers. As the weather cools off I will look at replanting this. The decking is timber, not plastic, and does get jet washed every year, along with the garden furniture. You did say that the our place was not for you so I can only surmise that overall you weren't really happy with the cabin or the location. Perhaps, like you said a log cabin in a rural, countryside location just isn't for you! Claire Property Owner

Ideal for fully able people. Should be in the write up.

Thank you for your feedback. At the time we opened the cabin up to guests the details were correct, as there was shop a mile away in Warslow. As this shop has now closed we will amend the information to state nearest shop is now 2.5 miles away in Longnor. With regard to the cabin itself it is on one level with a walk in shower. I am presuming you are referring to the 15 metre short walk on gravel from the car parking area and the two steps on the footpath/decking up to the front door of the cabin. We have not experienced any issues with this before, however we will amend the details. Claire Property Owner

  • "Requires a deep clean, cobwebs and dust everywhere."

(Look at top of DVD player, and behind TV) Outside could do with a pressure wash, as the chairs and table were green. A bit of attention to the outside decking area could be addressed. Restrictions on the heating as stated in the welcome pack not acceptable. You pay for a warm and cosy cottage for the duration of your stay. Not at times specified by owners!! Views were amazing. Apart from that it was ok.

Thank you for the feedback. We will look at the items you have highlighted and address as appropriate. With regard to the heating, if you had mentioned this whilst staying in the lodge we could have explained the heating controls to you if you were struggling? It has full gas central heating like another house. The only difference is it is on a bottled gas and if it runs out we replace the bottle straight away. The boiler has a timer, thermostat and a manual override and is very easy to use. In addition there is a log burner which we provide a full bag of logs for and more are available to purchase. We are in the summer months now though so most people do not require logs as the cabin is very cosy and retains the heat. I hope this didn't spoil your break away with us. Property Owner

As expected it was totally different to other properties we have rented in the Longnor area. In a fairly isolated setting with lovely views, really peaceful and great for socially distancing! The much appreciated wood burner was essential in the chilly evenings. We would have liked a toaster but as the property is powered by a low voltage caravan electric hook up that could possibly be why one was not provided. There is a grill in the gas oven but as we've never cooked with gas before it was too complicated for us to use it! We really enjoyed our stay, a very welcome break after lockdown.
