  • "We had a lovely stay at The Shooting Lodge."

It is cosy, clean and quiet. Kitchen is well equipped. Even though we just ate simple meals. No wifi, but we didn't even mind. Great place to escape. Lots of places to go, all within around 30min drive. Great to have Claire and her husband on site but she was never intrusive. Would love to come back.

  • "We felt it lacked a few facilities: iron, cheese grater."

Also, the shower was only just warm. However, the surrounding sceanery is stunning. Beautiful views all around.

Thank you for your feedback. Customer comments are very important to us. There is a cheese grater and travel iron at the property. The shower is in perfect working order and reaches a high temperature. Once again, thank you for your comments. Property Owner

  • "We had had to change our dates twice due to the pandemic, so glad we did."

As expected it was totally different to other properties we have rented in the Longnor area. In a fairly isolated setting with lovely views, really peaceful and great for socially distancing! The much appreciated wood burner was essential in the chilly evenings. We would have liked a toaster but as the property is powered by a low voltage caravan electric hook up that could possibly be why one was not provided. There is a grill in the gas oven but as we've never cooked with gas before it was too complicated for us to use it! We really enjoyed our stay, a very welcome break after lockdown.

The accommodation was wonderful only bettered by the stunning views from the decking. A lovely place to go back to after a walk in the countryside. A big thank you to Claire and Gary for a very warm welcome. We would definitely love to come back again soon.

  • "We had a fantastic time staying at The Shooting Lodge for a long weekend."

Gary and Claire were lovely hosts who had set the fire up ready for our arrival, left milk in the fridge and even brought some tasty homemade cheeses to enjoy! We couldn't wander far due to Storm Dennis raging outside but we didn't mind when the log burner was going and we slowly worked our way through the DVD collection. Gorgeous place to get away from it all, definitely wanting to visit again!

  • "I have stayed at Shawfield Farm twice before although this was my first stay in the Shooting Lodge."

As always I was given a warm friendly welcome by Claire and Garry. The Lodge was every bit as comfortable and well equipped as I knew it would be. I loved the quirkiness of it, the comfortable bed and of course the amazing view. I can't recommend it highly enough. The best thing has to be sitting out on the decking with a glass of wine looking out for the deer. I hope to return.

Unfortunatley that week was not good weather and they both felt cold in the lodge. The owners kindly adjusted the timer but they still felt it was cold and the heating should not have been on a timer but would have been better controlled by the people staying in the lodge.Logs could be purchased from the owners for the log burner which was used each evening. The lodge is quite a drive from the town but if it is a quiet holiday your looking for then this is ideal.Very clean and well looked after.
