"This is a holiday home that has been designed to make relaxation second nature - there is no detail that hasn’t been thought about and then generously delivered – the attention to detail is truly staggering."
Hard to say what was our favourite - the excellent location, the generous, very clean and well designed rooms, the fact that everything you could possibly need to cook, explore or simply chill in the oh so comfortable and well designed house was of the highest quality. Thanks for your warm welcome and a really lovely holiday.
"We had a lovely stay whilst attending a friend’s celebration in the local area."
The cottage was perfect for what we needed.

It is at the top of a steep hill for our elderly people who are less mobile did struggle with when walking back from eating at the local pub
"The beautiful house was even more spacious and practical than we thought."
The village was so pretty and the area was beautiful. We had a wonderful week!
"Hayfield is a lovely village well situated for exploring the peak district."
Hayfield has a number of nice pubs in the village and nearby. Lots of lovely walks from the cottage. 5 of us stayed at Oak Dene in Hayfield. It's a lovely cottage with ample room for a family of 5, smaller than what I thought from the pictures on the website. Quite basic but ample for a base. Comfortable beds after a long day out. Its quite noisy in the front bedroom as the cottage is situated right on the main road. Not able to open windows at night due to noise from traffic. Nice space to enjoy a family meal. The parking situation is terrible!! We had to park over the road in a layby and cross an extremely busy road. There is very little outdoor space attached to the cottage. Despite the negative comments, we all really enjoyed our stay.
"Maybe a warning of traffic noise in the front bedroom could be useful for people who don't sleep well."
"Beautiful property, very spacious for the family."
The cottage was spotless on arrival and tea/coffee/ biscuits and flowers were a nice surprise. Great location with lots of walks and bike rides from the doorstep.
"Well maintained comfortable house in a village with a good range of facilities."
Lovely teashop for breakfast. Amazing variety of walks on the doorstep. Very close to busy road but quiet at nighttime and road noise didn't trouble us through thick walls and double glazing.
"This is a charming and comfortable cottage ."
Kept clean and well maintained . It was spacious with good sized bedrooms and Owner was very helpful with local guidance and also the kitchen had almost everything needed for a short break. There were beautiful walks within easy reach . There was a kids park very nearby . The only thing lacking was perhaps a garden but there was a nice sunny patio on the side of the property and the setting outside is beautiful everywhere . It is in walking distance of the amenities of Hayfield village . Overall we have had a very comfortable stay and would love to come back again .
"Oak Dene is a well equipped, comfortable and spacious house to stay in."
Our family thoroughly enjoyed our short stay there and all agreed that we would definitely stay there again. Although it is on the main road I didn't find it a problem as traffic quietens down in the evening. Hayfield is a great place to stay, lovely village, good pubs and plenty of good walks.
"Great stay in a lovely property"
"Cottage was lovely and very clean with all facilities that were needed."
Location was very good, nice pretty village with walks nearby.
"Absolutely beautiful cottage in a perfect location for exploring many areas, house was fully equipped, very clean and extremely spacious."
As a family of 5 it was perfect. Kitchen was fully equipped with everything you could need which was essential for us cooking meals every night. Bedrooms are very spacious with extremely comfy beds. The only downside for me was that the front bedroom faces onto a busy main road and one of the windows has a huge gap in which made it very noisy and disturbed my sleep every day. Other than that 5 stars! *****
"Really cosy, spacious house in a great location for accessing the Peak District."
Perfect for a weekend get away Couldn’t fault it

Oak Dene is a lovely house, and was perfect for our group :) There were some great walks on the doorstep and the town of Hayfield had some lovely pubs and cafes - would highly recommend
"An excellent place to stay."
Clean, comfortable, spacious house that has everything you could possibly need in a central position in a lovely rural village.
"Spacious and comfortable for family get together."
Wood burner laid ready for use. Good standard of kitchen and furniture and nicely decorated.
"Didn't receive instructions for getting into property which meant I had to call on arrival."
Resolved efficiently on the phone.
"Lovely, spacious cottage with comfortable beds and all amenities we could need for a 4 night stay."
It is also placed next to a pretty village near good walking routes in the hillsides. Would definitely recommend.
Even had Christmas decoration up, nice touch. We felt that the heating was a bit on the low side, but we were able to have a log fire to heat lounge. This was only a small niggle, the showers were very tight to get into, but supplied lovely hot water. A nice pleasant time away. The village of Hatfield was lovely and recommend the coffee shop.
"Our family (3 adults, 2 teenagers) spent a very enjoyable week in Oak Dene."
The cottage is very comfortable, clean and well equipped. It was great to have the two seating areas (in the main lounge and the dining room). Although there is no allocated parking we were always able to find a spot close to the cottage. Hayfield is a lovely village with plenty of good places to eat out, and there are lots of walks and bike rides straight from the front door.
"I don't think it was mentioned in the listing but the house does have wifi which was a bonus."
Hayfield is an excellent base for a holiday in the High Peaks. There were lots of places to eat within walking distance of the house and a couple of shops, including post office, plus a butcher's (open part time) for basic needs.
"This was a very nice house, in a lovely village."
Pros - 4 pubs in village all fairly decent. Some decent shops. Great walks, many starting from the village. A very nice kitchen. Nice touch of leaving a pint of milk, tea bags, some mince pies and various condiments. Two downstairs rooms were well laid out and furnished. Two Bathrooms very nicely decorated Cons - By main road so not overly quiet at front. Very small showers in bathrooms. Old fashioned decor in bedrooms. No storage space in one bedroom and extremely limited in other two - only one small wardrobe in total, would really have benefited from a few decent cabinets and or shelves and small wardrobes rather than loose rails. Knives in kitchen really blunt. Heating could not be touched and was in many rooms too warm.
"This is definitely a house rather than a cottage."
It is kept beautifully immaculate and clean by its owners, and they even left a welcome tray of tea and biscuits, plus fresh flowers in the lounge. It is ideal for 4-6 people. It’s an easy walk to the pubs and shops of Hayfield and there are plenty of walks from the door. The nearby road is quite busy but not troublesome. The only thing you need to bring are your own tea towels. We had a thoroughly enjoyable week and would recommend this house.
"Slight problem about getting the central heating started and with the right timing for us but once we had sorted this out with the owner everything was great."
"The property advertises two car parking spaces when actually it has no parking specific to the cottage at all and the near by lay by is always very full and busy."
"Owner went out of her way to provide a special Christmas welcome with real Christmas tree, mince pies and wine."
Very comfortable family home with plenty of space to spread out. We enjoyed lighting the log burner in the evening, walking in the pretty village and visiting cozy local pubs!
"We booked this cottage for a long week end for our daughters graduation which was in Buxton eight miles away?"
This was a great location lovely villages places to eat, the cottage was very clean and well equipped with lots of nice little extras !!! Log burning stove fresh flowers on arrival and tea biscuits milk. Which was lovely!!!

A beautifully-presented, three bedroom, Victorian semi-detached cottage situated in the centre of the delightful High Peak village of Hayfield.
This cottage is located on the edge of the Peak District National Park and is ideal for families or couples looking to explore this wonderful area.
With contemporary furnishings, the bedrooms are spacious and light with one of them including an en-suite shower room.
The bathroom is very luxurious with a designer roll-top bath and separate shower.
The modern kitchen is extremely well equipped and theres a small breakfast table if you just want to grab a quick bite before venturing out.
If you prefer to gather round a table as a group, the dining room is a beautiful space and sets you in the mood for a relaxing dinner.
There is also a comfortable sitting area here which is a great place to flop after your feast and continue with the conversation.
Theres also a TV so the room can double as a breakaway room for children to watch a movie, while the adults relax through into the main sitting room (or the other way around of course).
The main sitting room continues the theme, with comfortable leather sofas and armchairs making for an extremely cosy evening gazing at the dancing flames of the woodburning stove.
A pleasant patio and gravelled area to the side of the cottage is an ideal place to dine alfresco or for the children run off a bit of energy.
Thats assuming you have any energy left of course as there is so much to do in the surrounding area.
The excellent Sett Valley Trail is just across the way and you are right on the edge of the Peak District National Park and some of the best walks in the UK.
If you have worked up an appetite and a thirst, you have an easy walk to Hayfields restaurants and real ale pubs, or you can even jump on a train for a short hop to the cities of Manchester or Sheffield.
Theres an endless list of possibilities at this cottage all year round.
About the location
Chapel-en-le-Frith 4 miles; Glossop 5 miles; Buxton 8 miles.
The delightful High Peak village of Hayfield is situated in a wonderful rural setting on the north western edge of the Peak National Park. It’s a peaceful little village, popular with walkers who are attracted by its close proximity to Kinder Scout. Serious walkers head east out of the village, up and over the green foothills to the russet expanse of the Kinder Plateau, Pennine Way and Snake Path, whilst families (and those who enjoy more gentle rambles) head west along the beautiful Sett Valley Trail towards New Mills. Edale – an alternative start of the Pennine Way - is only a few miles away. The village caters well for tourists with pubs, cafes and restaurants. Other local attractions include the Goyt Valley, Castleton – with its famous caverns - and the popular spa town of Buxton.
