  • "This cottage is a perfect place to stay."

It was our second visit and we will certainly return. A great location with plenty of walks nearby, plenty of places to have a drink or some food. The cottage is very clean, cosy and comfortable. And everything works! We've been elsewhere where this is not the case, but The Cottage at Hayfield is so well appointed. It is highly recommended. 5 stars!.

It's great to hear that you enjoyed your stay again and it feels comfortable enough for a return visit. Thanks for the feedback Pat Property Owner

  • "The whole experience from booking a cottage to going to the cottage was really lovely and relaxing."

The Cottage was very clean tidy and cosy. I was able to take my two dogs who was very happy as there are lots of little local walks or longer walks depending on your own ability. We will be booking again soon

What lovely feedback even though the weather has been miserable. I hope you had a lovely Chirstmas and have a prosperous 2024. We look forward to you visiting again when you and your dogs can enjoy better weather! Property Owner

The cottage has everything you need and was spotlessly clean. We’d love to visit again.

We would love to see you again, hopefully when the weather is a bit better. The peaks are lovely in the sun or snow but not so good in the rain when the views are limited Property Owner

  • "A delightful warm and cosy cottage with everything you need for a lovely, relaxing holiday."

It was certainly home from home. We enjoyed the Welcome Pack which included milk, bubbly and human and dog treats. There was also plenty of supplies in the store cupboards. This is the first holiday cottage that we have stayed in that has supplied all day-to-day essentials. Enclosed front and rear yard areas for our 2 terriers. Perfectly situated for all the local amenities and local walks. Enjoyed regular walks along the flat Sett Valley Trail with a lovely welcoming Cafe half way (1 mile). Slightly disappointed with local eateries, although enjoyed Sunday lunch and an evening meal at The Lamb Inn, which is a short drive away. Will hopefully be returning to The Cottage again. Thank you.

Thanks you so much for your comments. I hope when you return you try The Sportsman which is a scenic walk away up Kinder Road. My late husband and I used to drive up, enjoy wine with our meal and walk back. Dogs are welcome there and our dogs liked the walk back and the walk the following morning to retrieve the car. I am told that The Sportsman can also offer pre-booked eat at home Sunday lunches! The Pack Horse, 2 minutes away is highly recommended but I understand that you have to book in advance as it is so popular. Property Owner

Wonderful property in lovely location. Extremely well equipped - perfect for holiday with dog

I'm really pleased that you (and your pets) enjoyed your holiday. Thank you for your kind comments. The nice thing about the location is that while it is so close to all the facilities it faces an unadopted road so that it is really safe for wayward dogs - I have a border collie so I should know. I'm so pleased that you enjoyed your stay at the cottage. I hope you consider visiting the Peak distict again as it is beautiful in every season with loads to do and see and pets are always made very welcome, accepted in many of the local eateries Kind regards Pat Property Owner

Thanks for all the little extras too - helpful for a few things that we forgot. Kitchen was well furnished with utensils and pots etc. We didn't manage to use the outside space but inside was spacious enough for our family of four (two girls under 7) and we enjoyed playing some of the games left in the house.

There was plenty of information about the local area and the owner went above and beyond providing luxuries we hadn't contemplated. We needed to make a late amendment to our booking which did not incur any additional charge and for that we are grateful and minded to come to Sykes again in the future.

It's really nice to hear that you enjoyed your time at Hayfield, the conservation area is lovely although the parking is tight. Everyone works so hard to afford a break so it should be relaxing and interesting kind regards Pat Property Owner

The property is close to stunning countryside and walks, befitting the Peak District. The cottage is brilliantly situated but will test your parking skills if you have an estate like us. We would definitely return here if we were coming to this area again.

Thnk you for your feedback, I'm glad you appreciated being in the centre of the conservation area. The parking is tight and if the weather is icy I park on the road! Very few of the cottages have a private area and the locals are all used to visitors and residents parking on the road. We hardly used the car, eveything that we needed was in the village or very close by.The cottage was well kitted out, with good cooking facilities, and comfortable beds. There are good restaurants in the area, we were spoilt for choice.

Thank you for your help informing me that previous guests had flushed something down the toilet that had blocked the macerator. I'm sorry for your inconvenience at not being able to use the toilet during your stay, I really appreciate your understanding of the problem and giving access to the builder to assess the problem which included ordering and replacing the macerator.
