    “The cottage and facilities provided were simple but effective.”

    The cosy, clean rooms were more than enough for our short stay. Any niggles we may have had were down to personal preference as opposed to any issues with the cottage. Thanks to the owners, it helped us have the break we needed.

This is a delightful little cottage with lots of character, attached to the owner’s home, in a perfect touring position for discovering the Derbyshire Dales, on the outskirts of the village of Whatstandwell.

Situated in an excellent location near the Cromford Canal and River Derwent, this is the perfect base for walking, with trails leading practically from the doorstep.

Guests can also discover the village of Crich, just a couple of miles away with its Tramway Village, traditional market square and pubs.

Set alongside the A6, Loft Cottage is ideally placed for exploring the Peak District with its many attractions and lovely market towns.

Matlock 5 miles

The village of Whatstandwell sits beside the River Derwent, located close to its better known neighbours of Cromford, Matlock, Matlock Bath and the popular village of Crich. The area, located in the Peak District National Park, is full of history, with the National Tramway Museum a particular favourite amongst visitors to the area. Matlock, just a few miles away, offers a range of shops, pubs and restaurants, as well as attractions such as Gulliver's Kingdom. Magnificent views of the gorge can be enjoyed from the cable car that takes visitors up to the Heights of Abraham - a great place for all the family with its show caves, nature trail, water gardens and owl maze. The nearby High Peak Cycle Trail provides a wonderful experience while further to the north the market town of Bakewell, Chatsworth House and Park, Haddon Hall and Carsington Water are not to be missed!
