  • "We had a lovely stay at Oak Tree Cottage recently."

The facilities were excellent and the cottage was spotless and comfortable. Even the log burner in the cabin was ready to go! Well located for local attractions and towns, the owners have thought of everything you could possibly need. Would highly recommend. .

Particularly suited us to have a ground floor bedroom and shower room alongside the dogs in the hallway for one couple, with first floor as a separate sleeping/bathroom arrangement. Immediate surrounds are dog friendly and secure, with easy access to walks from the field. We had a really relaxing few days away and look forward to coming again.

  • "Fantastic 2 week stay at Oak Tree Cottage."

Excellent communication from owner who was very informative and helpful. Very clean on arrival and very well maintained inside and out. Equipped with everything you could possibly need and of very good quality. Heating easily adjusted to preferred temperature and warm and cosy, constant hot water. The downstairs bedroom and shower room an absolute bonus, as was the washing machine and tumble dryer located in the adjoining building . Beds very comfortable. Bigger than it looks on the pictures. Wifi and phone signal intermittent. Area is lovely and although just off the main A6 it felt very secluded as fully screened from the road, very private and not overlooked from any side. Lovely walks just across the road along the canal towpath which suits both seasoned walkers as there are more challenging routes leading off and those just wanting a casual stroll as it is safe and flat. Would highly recommend and hope to return. Thank you for an excellent break.

Everything about the cottage was perfect, so clean and everything you could possibly need was there! I felt reassured that we could call the owners for anything, however we never needed to. We found it to be cosy yet had plenty of space for a family of 4 which includes a teenager and a 12 year old (who could have separate rooms) and a small dog (who might I add loved the freedom of running around in the yard safely and was very happy to be left a treat of dog biscuits, very thoughtful) the kids loved the rope swing on the big oak tree in the field and were entertained by finding cows there a few times (avoiding the cow pats was fun!) So many amazing walks literally on the doorstep and lovely places to visit nearby. I cannot praise this property enough, I didn't want to leave!

We found it to be very welcoming , warm and cosy immaculately clean and tidy, with clean ,comfortable bedrooms ,cosy living-room ,a good upstairs bathroom , a handy downstairs toilet/shower and a well-equipped kitchen . This cottage is a great credit to the owners Janice and Barry . On our arrival there were cut flowers ,tea ,coffee, biscuits, milk in the fridge , even some doggy biscuits and a bottle of wine - all much appreciated .We Loved the peace and privacy , the only neighbours being the birds and rabbits spotted in the field and surrounding woods. We spent most of our time out walking our favourite walks in the Peak District ,the cottage providing a welcome return . There are nearby walking routes if you don't want to go far , or leave the car behind for a change- Cromford canal is just across the road , and the surrounding woodland up to the old railway line are interesting to explore . Also , local bus and rail travel are within easy reach and seem to be frequent during the day .We would recommend Oak Tree cottage to anyone who loves the countryside and nature and wants a relaxing break . Thankyou again to Janice and Barry for making our stay a very pleasant and enjoyable one .

The cottage was spacious, well maintained and spotlessly clean. There is a barn with laundry room, BBQ etc and also dog crates and dog towels. Its all very well thought out and organised. It was perfect for the dogs with a gate into the adjacent field and walks up the woods or along canal, High Peak Trail. The cottage and garden was very private. Its lovely to hear tawny owls at night and the song birds during the day. You do hear the noise from the A6 but I have to say it didn't really bother us. It may be more of an issue in the summer time if you want to sit outside. The cabin with fire and cooking facilities is lovely and again very well equipped and organised. We will definitely stay there again with our friends and dogs.

We arrived 20 minutes early and were made to sit in the car until 3pm, whilst the own did the cleaning. So believe me people when it say no early check in, they mean it!!!!!! The cottage is supposed to be suitable for 6 people, it sleeps 6 very comfortably, but the lounge and kitchen area doesn't. It does have outdoor space which would make it easier in summer if you can shout over the noise from the A6. So if there are 4 adults who are happy to eat out or have takeaways, it would be ideal.

If someone with poor mobility will be staying there, just be aware that there is a small step into the downstairs bathroom and a lip to step over to get into the shower. Otherwise the accessibility is very good. The only other thing to be aware of is that it can be tricky to find - particularly at night! Our two satnavs couldn't locate it by address or postcode, but the owners talked us in! Don't let that put you off, though: it's a lovely cottage, with nice touches like biscuits for both humans and their furry friends, and the cabin is gorgeous! This is the third time we have used them and we will continue to do so. Oak Tree Cottage was perfect! Beautifully decorated and proportioned rooms. There were only two of us and 2 dogs, but there is seating for 6 in the lounge and around the kitchen table. Two bathrooms and three good sized rooms. Very efficient heating and hot water. The location set back off the main road, but very quiet. The whole property is dog proof - we have a 16 week old puppy who remained contained. There is the immediate surrounding space outside the cottage, and then a fully fenced field across the drive way which is perfect. Walks from the cottage were great, up into the woods then onto the High Peak Trail, or an easy walk along the canal to Cromford takes about 30 minutes. The patio area outside was a very good spot to sit and watch the birds on the feeders whilst the Nordic cabin was great for the evenings. There is also easy access to walks through the woods from the field and just across the road walks along the Cromford canal were a pleasure and easy going with a pram. After walking to Cromford we had an enjoyable meal in the Boat Inn and walking to Whatstandwell we found The Family Tree an excellent place for lunch. I can also recommend a visit to Carsington Water for walks, bird spotting, shopping and food and a ride on the Ecclesbourne Valley Heritage Line to the pretty little town of Wirksworth where we found the staff at the Hope and Anchor very friendly.Yes as previously mentioned there is some road noise as the cottage is just off the A6 but this in no way spoiled our holiday here. • "This cottage is beautifully decorated and kitted out."

The layout was really good as the downstairs bedroom and shower room were on one side of the living area and could be made private by closing a door. Janice and Barry were welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. Barry even popped over at very short notice to replace a bleeping smoke alarm battery. A beautiful vase of roses were a lovely welcoming touch too. The towels were amazingly fluffy, white and soft and they supplied plenty of towels for the kitchen as well. They even provided plenty of dish washer tablets, soap in all the bathrooms and loads of games like pictionary in case the weather was wet. We were however blessed with glorious weather so the BBQ and pizza over (yes, really) were brilliant. The location suited us very well. We could cross over the A6 to the canal for a gentle flat walk into Cromford or head out the back, up the hill to join the High Peak Trail towards Black Rock. We would thoroughly recommend Oak Tree Cottage.

  • "The cottage address was misleading."

I quoted that given to Sainsbury for a food delivery and they tried to deliver somewhere completely different. The postcode was spot on on our phone satvavs but it was the 1 High Peak Cottages that confused things. The address should just be Oak Tree Cottage High Peak Junction, Near Cromford. We did eventually get our food after several phone calls with Sainsbury's customer service, the local store and the driver and we had to venture out to eat!!

  • "An excellent cottage: comfortable and very well appointed."

Mr and Mrs Wilmot, owners, met us on our arrival by prior arrangement and, despite being about to go away on holiday themselves , gave us a full and most helpful briefing.. The particular configuration of the house was very important for us as a friend joining us has serious mobility problems and the downstairs bedroom and bathroom were therefore necessary. Altogether a very well equipped cottage.
