  • "We had a lovely stay at 19 The Viilage, the property had everything we needed, we both had a great night's sleep and it had a fab family friendly feel, which was much appreciated with our active 6 month old trying to crawl everywhere!"

The host's were great and made sure we had all the information we needed before our stay. Holme is a great place to stay and close to some lovely villages - Holmfirth was a favourite of ours. We are already planning another stay!

So glad you had a lovely stay. We’d love to have you back! Property Owner

  • "I cannot rate this cottage highly enough."

It is beautifully furnished and to a high standard. The beds are very comfortable, the towels are soft, the shower is fantastic and the carpets are really soft underfoot. All the bedrooms have blackout blinds so we slept really well. It is equipped with everything you could possibly want. There is also lots of helpful local information, including suggested walks, in the cottage. The outdoor seating area is a morning suntrap and well sheltered, so you can sit out and enjoy the gorgeous view over breakfast. It is also very quiet. Holme is such a lovely village and the village pantry shop is amazing. It is tiny, but has all you could want, including a wide range of takeout food and home made goods. The pork and apple pies are worth a particular mention. The pub is nice with good food and the village has a very friendly feel generally. The bus stop to get to Holmefirth is right opposite the cottage, which is handy. Parking was no problem despite having a number of cars between us. We were able to walk from the house to the vineyard in 40 minutes and i would strongly recommend doing one of their tours. Local taxis also proved very reliable. However, what really makes this rental standout from any others is the hosts. Emma could not have been more helpful or friendly. She provided lots of helpful information prior to our stay and responded very promptly to any questions. When we were unable to attend at the last minute due to illness, she was very understanding and accommodating. When we were able to re-arrange, she did everything possible to make our stay memorable, even leaving a birthday cake to mark a special occasion. There are many little touches that she adds which really do make it stand out above others. We would not hesitate to return or to recommend it to others.

It was lovely to have you as our guests, Tonya. Thank you for such detailed feedback, it is much appreciated. It wad lovely to meet you at the village picnic. Glad you had a great time. Property Owner

The Northern Peaks are a great place for a getaway with plenty of walks, pubs and sites to see. The pub (The Fleece) in the village does great traditional food and is only 50 meters from the house. Thanks again for our stay!

About the location

HOLMBRIDGE

Holmfirth 1 mile, Huddersfield 8 miles.

The small village of Holmbridge is situated just 1 mile from the traditional Pennine market town of Holmfirth, within the beautiful Holme Valley. The village has two pubs, a cricket club, a convenience store, a church and its own vineyard which offers tours, tasting and great food. In 2014 the Tour de France passed through the village and the challenging climb of Holme Moss is nearby. Close by, the town of Holmfirth has old stone cottages, winding streets, parks, shops, bars, restaurants and the infamous music venue, The Picturedrome. The Holme Valley hosts a number of festivals throughout the year including the now famous Festival of Folk (May), The Arts Festival (June) Food and Drink festival (September) and a great Music Festival (October). These main festivals run alongside and with other smaller festivals and weekends, such as the Film Festival, The Macmillan Art Exhibition, the Christmas markets, The Scarecrow Festival and, of course, the big cycle race ‘Le Tour De Yorkshire’, this is a wonderfully cultural place to visit. The town was made famous as the setting for the long-running comedy series Last of the Summer Wine. The nearby Colne Valley is home to fictional Skelthwaite from the Where the Heart Is series and, within reach, is the wonderful Peak District National Park – the setting for many picturesque and breathtaking scenic views. The town of Huddersfield and the bright lights of Manchester, Leeds and Sheffield are all within a short drive, making this an ideal base for exploring this exciting and exquisite area of Yorkshire.
