The property

The Shearer's Hut is a detached, stone building within the grounds of the owner’s farmhouse in the village of Holme, West Yorkshire.

Once a bunking hut for roving shearers, the single floor accommodation possesses an authentic charm combined with retro furniture and a touch of modern luxury․ With fairy lights and complementary fizz it really is the perfect romantic getaway․ Positioned on the edge of the Peak Park and opposite a wonderfully friendly pub (famous for its open fires and quality food) you really don’t need anything more.

Stepping into the open-plan hut you immediately feel welcomed by the warmth of the underfloor heating․ The living space houses a microwave, mini fridge, toaster and kettle, allowing you to prepare basic meals which can be enjoyed inside or out․ Along with the accommodation you have access to a pretty garden area with seating and outdoor lighting, having far reaching views across the valley.

The surrounding area is popular with walkers, hikers, cyclists and nature enthusiasts, making The Shearer’s Hut an ideal retreat for those wanting to discover this beautiful part of Yorkshire․ With a plethora of long and short walks right on the doorstep its easy to explore the Dark Peak, local reservoirs and the Holme Valley without ever using your car․ The local vineyard, infamous Picturedrome, real ale bars and restaurants are just down the road in the bustling market town of Holmfirth․ All which can be simply accessed by using the regular bus service.

The Shearer’s hut is also a perfect base for visiting National Trust treasures such as Chatsworth House, Quarry Bank Mill and Lyme Park․ Using the car it is easy to access the Hope Valley via the Woodhead Pass for walks that include Winnats Pass, Mam Tor and the Great Ridge․ You can even head over the moors to Castleton experience the unrivalled underground thrill of the Devil’s arse and Blue John Mines.

However you choose to spend your time, a break at The Shearer's Hut is sure to be well remembered.

This Peak District National Park village rests between the Digley Reservoir and the Brownhill Reservoir and houses a children's playground and a traditional pub serving delicious home-cooked food.
