"We booked the two cottages so that we didn't have to share the amenities especially during Covid."
The furnishings and pool are more up to date than shown in the actual photographs. The pool is a great size with good facilities. The garden area has lots of outdoor space which was ideal for us. The views and surrounding area are stunning. We would definitely return for another visit.
"The host was very friendly and helpful!"
"Nice cottage, although the kitchen was a bit small."
My only concern was the shared garden. Not everyone likes dogs., and in a shared garden there must be consideration on both sides, children and dogs alike. The swimming pool was a real bonus.
"Fantastic location for walking the Dales, excellent cottage with swimming pool and garden area."
Easy arrangements and accommodating helpful owners. Highly recommended.
However I feel that it would be much improved with the addition of another bathroom & toilet. One bathroom for 8 people was not really adequate maybe would be better to be let with 3 bedroom sleeping 6 with the addition of another bathroom. The use of the pool was an added bonus it was very clean & a good size.
"Some of the place mats in both accommodations have passed their sell-by date, really tatty, otherwise a comfortable cottage."
Would benefit from additional toilet facilities, only 1 toilet for 8 people - problem if someone is having a bath or shower. Not always possible to get to the toilet in the swimming pool area.

Twitchill Farm Holiday Cottages
This group of two charming stone-built cottages are in the extensive grounds of the owner’s working farm, on the outskirts of the lovely Peak District towns of Hope and Castleton, with breathtaking views across the stunning Hope Valley. With private use of a large heated indoor swimming pool, the cottages offer the perfect setting for multiple family holidays or large groups. They are warm and cosy and decorated to traditional tastes. The bedrooms are comfortable and the open plan living areas with kitchen, dining area and sitting areas are a great place for a lively get together. The two cottages can be taken individually or they can be opened out as one through a link door on the top floor. There are small patio areas at the front of the cottages, where you can sit and watch the sun dip over the Shivering Mountain, Mam Tor; and to the rear of the cottages there are decked areas for group alfresco dining with large tables under the shelter of gazebos. The extensive lawn is the ideal place to kick a ball or throw a frisbee, assuming you still have the energy after a splash around in the heated indoor pool which has its own changing and showering facilities and is for the exclusive use of the cottages. As tempting as it might be to spend your entire break here, there is an exhaustive choice of things to do in and around the area. How about exploring a castle, take a boat trip 450m underground or delve into a deep cavern called The Devil’s Arse! With all of this within two miles of your front door, you won’t have to venture far to discover an amazing array of attractions in this wonderful area.

The pretty Peak District village of Hope lies in the heart of the Hope Valley, and on the doorstep of some great walking country. Set amongst the beautiful rolling hills of the Peak District National Park, the village boasts some village pubs which serve food, a general store, some very interesting shops and galleries to explore, and a railway station. Hope is perfectly situated for either an action-packed break full of caving, climbing, and great walks from the doorstep, or a quiet countryside break in this lovely part of the Peaks. The Winnats Pass cuts a course through superb scenery just a couple of miles away in Castleton, and is a delight for walkers, cyclists and motorists alike. Nearby are the pretty villages of Edale, the start of the Pennine Way, Castleton and Hathersage with its seasonal outdoor swimming pool, while horse riding and the wonderful Castleton Caves are all available within 3 miles. Enjoy a day out at Alton Towers or visit the impressive Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall.
