  • "What a Fantastic property this is!"

A beautiful dog -friendly cottage in a lovely small village. Very comfy beds, large living room with TV and selection of books and games and a very well equipped kitchen/diner. Only a few yards from the Pub which also serves lovely food. Nearby towns served by a local bus company.

The neighbour was very friendly and chatty which made us feel welcome, the pub next door served nice meals. Carsington water just up the road was a refreshing walk each morning with the dogs. We will definitely be back next year.

  • "Absolutely lovely cottage."

Immaculate too. A short walk takes you to the walk around Carsington water, with great facilities. The pub next door is fantastic, the food and portion sizes are awesome. The beer is well kept and several pints were consumed. Perfect after a long walk in the fresh air. A lovely touch of a ‘Welcome ‘ bottle of wine too. Thank you! We will definitely return, as it’s ideally situated for many of the Peak District attractions and lovely walks. Another huge benefit for us, is we have two dogs, so it’s perfect for them too. This was our second stay here. Thank you!

It was very clean and well equipped . The beds were comfortable. The garden was a bit of a disapointment. I though it would be larger. It is not completely dog proof due to the gap between the gate and the wall. It was very close to Carsington Water and the location was very pretty.

Hi there, I'm very glad you enjoyed your stay, and it's lovely to hear that you are returning visitors. Just wanted to pass on my thanks to your husband for his repairs. They were on the 'to do' list, but it sounds like he got there first! All the best, Caroline Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely stay here!"

It was like a home from home. Everything was provided from thoughtful tea bags to clean white towels and the beds were comfortable! Kids (and dog) were comfortable and enjoyed the cottage too with it’s comforting home decor. Just a few tweaks and it would be perfect. The front door handle kept popping off, really creaky doors and some didn’t shut properly, the baths were covered with a bit of limescale, and some light bulbs and batteries were out. Other than the above, the place is absolutely lovely.

  • "Cottage is lovely, had everything we could have needed (2 adults, 4 children, 2 dogs)."

Spacious and well equipped. Very child and dog friendly. WI-FI worked well for all of us. Location is good, lovely walks, cute little park for the children literally a stones throw. Several villages a very short drive away (We did Wirksworth, Ashbourne, Matlock Bath). Carsington Waters is great, the kids loved it. We had a water issue one evening (one off area issue), the owner responded immediately to my message and then checked in the next morning to see if it was back on. Very nice and helpful. Only points would be cleaning could be better, feel that it was only tickled over, we had to hoover when we arrived and wipe over bathrooms. And maybe some comfier garden seating.

  • "A great cottage very spacious and well equipped in a quiet location with lots of nice walks around the area."

The garden was a great sun trap so would have benefited from some comfy chairs etc. The view from both kitchen windows was just high weeds and clearly hadn’t been tidied for sometime. The en-suite would benefit from an upgrade although it was clean. The left hand side grill element was not working, no problem to us but just thought I’d mention it for replacement. All in all a great week away in 2 Miners cottages and would return.

It's a gorgeous cottage in a really lovely village. We stayed with my Mom and Dad and our Springer Spaniel Ollie and there was plenty of room for us. The cottage had everything we needed and was warm and comfortable. Parking for 2 cars was too tight, but we managed to use a space at the end of the pub car park next door for 1 car. The cottage is located in a characterful, pretty village. Walks from the cottage are beautiful through fields, narrow lanes and around Carsington Water. We had a bright, sunny weekend and appreciated England at its’ very best.

Comfortable and cosy. Would use again. Everything you need in cottage. Washer/ dryer is virtually unusable. Takes forever to do dry clothes ( hours and hours). Also wash cycles far too long. I would recommend getting a new one. Lovely base for exploring Carsington Water. Handy pub restaurant next door. Phone signal not good but wi- fi signal perfectly adequate. Apart from washer/dryer a faultless stay. Leaving at 9.30 is a bit too early. 10 would be more reasonable. Thanks for a nice break.

The beds were comfortable and the linen and towels were of a good quality for a holiday let. The area was quiet and we all found it really relaxing. The pub next door is really a restaurant more than a pub and to be honest we heard no disturbance from it at all. There were a couple of really minor niggles, such as a couple of bulbs in the lounge that need to be replaced, but there was a housekeepers book to leave notes in and I have no doubt they will be replaced before the next booking arrives.

The owners provide everything that is needed and extras on top of that. There is a neat and dog proof front garden and patio, where we spent many hours sitting in the sunshine. The kitchen is spacious and well equipped. Storage space in the second double room is limited and the spare bedding in the wardrobes could go under the bed but we managed and the other two rooms were more spacious. The listing sites single beds in two rooms but there were comfortable doubles in two rooms plus twin beds in a third. The area is stunning with lots to do. The cottage was spotless. A really lovely weekend.

  • "Lovely cottage in a beautiful village, however, whoever cleans the cottage does not appear to clean above head height."

There were cobwebs everywhere, there was even a two foot strand hanging from the bedroom light! The bedrooms are in desperate need of mirrors,( having one large mirror on the landing is no good when there are more than one person wanting to dry their hair) the large bedroom needs a proper wardrobe or at least a chest of drawers, as the cupboard provided in the en-suite isn’t large enough for two peoples clothes. The ovens were filthy and smelt of grease. Despite these small problems we had a lovely time exploring the local area, but I don’t think I would stay here again. It is so annoying that we lost part of our holiday by having to check in late and leave early, so the cottage could be given a thorough clean!

The whole weekend was great and we'll absolutely be booking again. The cottage was a great base and really comfortable. The check out time was a bit too early for us on Sunday (9.30am) but I think this was to allow the extra cleaning time due to Covid so hopefully will.be slightly later next time.

  • "Yes. Firstly I must say that the cottage is really lovely and in a wonderful place and position."

It is very clean, comfortable and generally well equipped. However I would not recommend it for six people. The twin room is VERY small & access to the fitted wardrobe, where shelving is not in place, is far too cramped. The chair blocks access at one end and there literally isn't room for one anywhere else. There are no decent mirrors in the bedrooms; just 'dinner plate' size which are no use for anyone less than 5ft.6ins as, apart from being too small they are sited too high. There is no shelving/flat surfaces at which to dry hair, place creams/makeup etc. both of which should be near a wall socket. The 'family' bathroom has no cupboard behind the mirror and again, no shelf either. It is such a shame as, with some thought and attention to practical details the amenities would transform the guests' holiday The above issues have been mentioned by others in the Visitor Book I make these comments as someone who owns a rental property and I know from experience what a difference the things I have highlighted would make. Do contact me if you feel I might help further. I don't mind if my comments are published but it might be more considerate to discuss the issues with the owners who have provided a beautiful cottage in all other respects. Premises not very clean. No chairs in 2nd or 3rd bedroom to put clothes on. No bathmats in either bathroom. Comparing other places we've been to recently it was poor standard for the money charged. Only 3 coffee pods and 3 instant milk sachets not acceptable as a welcome pack.
