  • "This was a good location for Christmas with the family - the closest we could find to Marsden, on a direct route in case of bad weather."

The property is well equipped and comfortable. There are no website photos of the upstairs (20 steps up) twin room 2'6" beds (we pushed them together). There is a large shower off this bedroom and a toilet and washbasin across the small top landing. The main bathroom is off the spacious master bedroom downstairs. To make 6 people there is a sofa bed on the mezzanine level above the lounge, so is open plan. As it is up in the penthouse, the lift is useful for luggage on arrival and departure! There is parking for one car but is quite a tight space for a larger vehicle. We would book again.

I’m glad you and your family enjoyed your stay in the penthouse. I shall get the website updated with some more images. Would love to have you as guests again. Property Owner

  • "Great property with a lot of interesting history."

The Penthouse itself was lovely, very clean and spacious. If i had one criticism it would be the downstairs bathroom had to be passed through to get to the downstairs bedroom but this is a minor gripe. Everything was clean and furniture and decor was lovely. Andrew was also very helpful when contacted regarding parking and other things.

I’m glad you liked the penthouse and found it up to a good standard. The bathroom is located where it is due to the fact the conversion had to comply with building regulations and work within the constraints of this historic listed building. Glad you liked the decor Property Owner

About the location

HUDDERSFIELD

Holmfirth 8 miles; Haworth 16 miles.

Geographically speaking, Huddersfield is situated in a basin surrounded by hills; this can be readily seen from many of the vantage points around the area. Huddersfield owes much of its growth and prosperity to the Industrial Revolution, when it became one of the best manufacturing towns of fine woollen textiles. Modern day Huddersfield has been transformed into a smart shopping area with several pedestrian areas. Just out of the town centre on the Leeds Road is a modern complex including a stadium, swimming pool, and multi-screen cinema. The town also has three parks, a wonderful modern spa facility and a lovely theatre, and boasts excellent road links to many tourist locations. Holmfirth, fondly remembered by many as being the home of Compo, Cleggy and Nora Batty, from the long running comedy series Last of the Summer Wine, is just eight miles away and Haworth, the home of the famous Bronte sisters, is just a sixteen-mile drive. The area is excellent for children with many attractions including the Kirklees Light Railway and Eureka, the National Children’s Museum. A lovely area steeped in history where visitors always enjoy the genuine hospitality of a thriving local community, and also close to the bright lights of Manchester, Leeds and Sheffield.
