  • "We only had a short stay in very cold winter weather."

The property is spacious for a family of 4 and had all the facilities we needed. It was cold but that's as much down to the weather as the property and the log burner was very welcome. The location is great. Very rural but also close to some lovely places to visit such as Matlock Bath, Bakewell and Chatsworth. Hopefully we'll visit again in the spring or summer.

When we arrived we were blown away with how nice and home-like it was. The complimentary items were a nice touch (the cake was amazing!) It was a lovely stay and I'm sure we'll be back.

  • "The Lodge was very large, comfortable, clean and warm and had everything we needed for a great break away from home."

The hosts even left us cake and milk for our arrival which was a lovely thought. The Lodge is close to several villages with shops, restaurants and pubs and lots to do in the surrounding areas. The Lodge is next to the farm, so it was great to see the cows and Dizzy the horse in the field next to the lodge. The only downside wass that the shower was very poor running off the bath taps and could do with upgrading to a separate power shower but apart from that everything was perfect and we would highly recommend.

  • "I recently stayed at a wonderful cottage that exceeded my expectations."

It offered plenty of space, and its proximity to shops made it incredibly convenient. The presence of cows outside added to the charm, and waking up to their gentle mooing was a lovely experience. The cottage had everything we needed, ensuring a comfortable stay. Highly recommended for a relaxing getaway with all amenities nearby.

  • "Wonderful cottage in a lovely countryside location."

3 fantastic sized bedrooms, with large lounge and kitchen dining area. Great front garden too for kids to play out and outside dining with BBQ. We had a great time with the neighbours (Dairy Cows on working farm) lovely hosts on the farm and terrific farm tour available too! The picturesque Brassington and Wirksworth villages on your doorstep. Highly recommend this cottage and location.

  • "Lovely cottage just as described."

We were 4 adults with 2 babies & a toddler & it was perfect for us. Very clean & good size. Owners were super quick to respond and very helpful providing extra bedding & high chair when requested. Best Victoria sponge cake we’ve ever had too! Also really useful visitor book with lots of info on everything. Only feedback would be some of the kitchen facilities could be a little better perhaps?- no sharp knives & limited range of pots & pans but to be expected in holiday let. Overall everything was great & big outdoor area, would recommend. Thanks!

  • "We had a lovely day at the lodge celebrating a 30th birthday."

We had plenty of space to all eat at the dining table and was nice and cosy in the lounge with the fire going. We felt the property was clean and the delicious cake was a lovely touch. Our one year old loved Dizzy and looked out the window for him every morning. He enjoyed riding on his fire engine which was nice and safe for him. We visited Matlock bath and enjoyed the arcades and aquarium.

  • "We had such a wonderful stay at The Lodge."

Lovely and spacious throughout, with very comfy beds, and a great base from which to explore the area. We went with two toddlers and the lack of stairs was brilliant! They loved watching the cows too. Vicky was very understanding and flexible about the travel delay we had due to the snow, and communication was perfect, we'd definitely stay again! We would also recommend Matlock Fark Park for anyone visiting with children as we had a great day out there, even in the rain.

  • "We stayed at this property at the end of Feb."

It is a lovely well presented property which was extremely comfortable. We were greeted with a freshly baked cake and some milk to start us off. The log burner was a great addition and allowed us to have relaxed evenings keeping cosy and toasty while chatting with friends. The bedrooms were comfortable and we all had rested nights sleeps. The kitchen/diner had everything we needed for our stay and had a separate seating area with a sofa and TV that allowed the children to have their own area. We enjoyed a visit to the nearby Black Rocks and Matlock Bath. Overall a wonderful break in a lovely property.

Only issue was the shower, but the owners quickly fixed it once we told them about it. It was great to be woken up by the sound of cows in the morning. We will miss it and will definitely like to go back in the future

  • "The Lodge was everything we hoped it would be & we had a lovely family break."

The only negative points were, that the water pressure is extremely low & that it only has 1 bathroom ( with 5 adults & 1 child it was a bit of a wait for the bathroom in the morning, but this didn't spoil our stay in any way). Plus the mattresses are very hard but thats just personal preference. It was cosy & warm & the host had left milk & biscuits for our arrival. It had Christmas decorations up which was lovely. We didn't want to leave & will definitely go back.

Vicky was extremely helpful, she even took our Tesco shopping in as we were held up in traffic. The cake made by Vicky was absolutely delicious and so welcome after a very long drive. We would definitely stay again! The boys loved Dizzy the horse and the cows next door. We treated ourselves to a couple of meals at The Bear Inn just down the road. The Lodge was ideally located for seeing so many beautiful places literally only a short drive away. Thank you to Vicky for being such a good host and helping to make our first ever trip to the Peak District so successful. Thank you also to Sykes Cottages for making the process so straightforward especially as it was the first time I have ever rented a holiday cottage!

  • "The Lodge was just right for us."

With six of us staying there was plenty of room to relax and not feel cramped. The log burner in the living room and plentiful supply of wood and kindling was a bonus. Although part of a working farm, the Lodge is fenced off and quite private with plenty of parking space by the front door. We found it to be an ideal place for a long weekend and close by for visits to Chatsworth, Bakewell and the Peak District.

As mentioned before beautiful Victoria sponge on arrival with other goodies. It’s been a very cold week but the bungalow was cosy and warm even without using the wood burner. Stunning views of the full moon and starry skies. We were only 2 but if a family or group of friends the only downside was 1 bathroom and toilet. Wonderful stay have already booked their other property for June.

The cottage was amazing. It was spotlessly clean and so spacious. It was very well equipped and really there was nothing to fault it. Vicky was so kind and helpful and it was very easy to find. We were so grateful to find milk, eggs, tea, coffee and wine (very generous!) and the cake was just to die for! It was very warm, the beds were very comfortable and the towels fluffy. There was plenty of hot water too. It is very well situated for exploring the area and the countryside is beautiful. the one thing we would have feedback on is the taps in the sink in bathroom and the bathroom leaking a bit on the floor. Everything was just amazing the facilities and cleanliness was perfect. the kitchen utensils etc was complete. Really couldn't have asked for much more. everything we could want was there. some times the flies in the area made It uncomfortable to sit outside in and sometimes to keep the windows open as the flies would get in.
