“The cottage was really lovely.”
It had everything we needed.
It had everything we needed. Situated in the perfect area.
“Lovely cottage in a wonderful spot with lots of walks locally.”
My husband has some mobility issues which is why I chose this cottage and it was ideal for him - he could even manage the walk along to riverbank. Would definitely go back.
“A lovely little ground floor flat.”
Very well equipped with all you would need for a short break. When we arrived, it was clean, looked freshly decorated and the owner had kindly left milk and biscuits. Just right for a quick hot drink after our journey and before going out to explore. Just as described, there are walks right from your doorstep. Do go across to little bridge over the River Wye (20 metres from door) Spot the lovely wildlife, including water voles even Springwatch struggle to find them, we saw them every day, magical. Visit the local pub, Anglers Rest, great food, friendly staff and good beer. The owner came across to the little square (20 metres) where we were enjoying the evening sun and a glass of wine to introduce himself and check all was ok. We would definitely return to the flat and area.
“Fantastic Location - Great Base”
Lovely warm cottage with the added advantage of a log burner ! The location is perfect, with plenty of walks on the doorstep - our doggie loved it !! Would recommend and would love to come back again sometime
“Great little downstairs flat”
We agree with all the positive comments that have been said - it was a perfect little Christmas nest with everything we needed on our doorstep including lovely walks, good pubs and restaurants, shops that were only a few minutes drive away, etc. The only snag for us was that it IS a downstairs flat and there was no sound insulation in the ceiling so that we could hear every step and movement upstairs from first thing in the morning to late. For some this will be a complete non-issue but as it was winter and Christmas at that we were indoors quite a lot and it did start to wear a little after a while.
“Quiet relaxing location and very close to the Monsal Trail”
“Great location for the monsal trail.”
Overall very enjoyable and will go back.
“Very friendly reception, cottage apartment in a great location quite with some fabulous walking from the front door but only a short drive to shops and a number of good pubs that cater for dogs and serve food would return.”
“The cottage had a dampness especially the bathroom.”
The owners are very friendly. It is in a beautiful area. And as long as walking groups don't congregate right outside the cottage it is nice.
We had a fantastic weekend at Cherry Tree cottage. The location was beautiful and very tranquil, perfect for relaxing after busy days exploring the Peaks. There were stunning walks right from the doorstep, with the Monsal trail a quick walk up the valley. The cottage was well equipped and the bed was extremely comfortable. The owners were very friendly and were happy to provide us with anything we needed. I definitely want to visit Cherry Tree Cottage again soon.
“Perfect little cottage in idyllic surroundings.”
The cottage was very clean and well equipped upon arrival, there were even some free cookies in the kitchen for us! We had everything we needed apart from a corkscrew, which the friendly landlady upstairs was more than happy to lend to us. The bed was so comfortable we struggled to actually get up in the morning! There's a lovely local pub a small walk up the road, and a cafe near the mill itself. Across the river from the cottage is the Monsal Trail which is perfect for walks or cycling; for those without bikes there are several bike hire places nearby and three on the trail itself. There are also a number of fantastic walks you can take almost straight from the front door. The only small downside was the internet was a bit touch and go at times, but if you're in the Peak District you shouldn't be spending all your time online anyway. Would love to stay again!

LITTON MILL IN MILLER'S DALE
Tideswell 3 miles; Buxton 8 miles; Bakewell 10 miles; Chatsworth House 13 miles.
The attractive village of Litton Mill is located on the River Wye close to the heart of the Peak District, where in recent years, the former 19th-century textile mill has been converted into luxury apartments. The nearby village of Litton features a green complete with ancient wooden stocks, a community shop, and the 17th century Red Lion pub with reputed excellent home-cooked food. Litton Mill provides ready access to The Monsal Trail, which is a traffic free route through some of the Peak District's most spectacular limestone dales. The area boasts spectacular views of the twin viaducts that once carried powerful steam locomotives from London to Manchester as part of the Midlands Line. The old line now forms an 8.5 mile walking/cycling trail that meanders along the hills above the River Wye. The four railway tunnels along the route, Headstone Tunnel, Cressbrook Tunnel, Litton Tunnel, Chee Tor Tunnel are open for trail users. Nearby Tideswell stands in the heart of the Peak District National Park. Famous for its fine church dedicated to St John the Baptist, known as "The Cathedral of the Peak", Tideswell is also noted for its well dressing and carnival wakes, and has many fine country inns, a chemist, butchers, bakers and much more. There is excellent walking with rugged peaks to the north, gentle hills and dales to the south and Miller’s Dale nearby. Mam Tor and Castleton are only a few miles away and the popular towns of Buxton and Bakewell are a 15 minute drive.
