Everything about the place is juste absolutly perfect. The accommodation, the surrounding, the équipement, the horses and the sheep… my 11 years old just didn’t want to leave the place and neither did I. It was truly a wonderful experience and we are looking for coming back this summer to enjoy the place under the sun ( we stayed there in February and it’s my first time in the uk where the place is warm all day long!) As you can guess we absolutely loved the place!

  • "The views from the cottage were just beautiful and wonderful to look at when you were in cottage."

The cottage was comfortable to stop in with the nice feel of the log burner at night, we only used this one night to cook some toast as we love toast done on a log burner, we were disgusted with the state of the cottage as most of the cottage looked as though it hadn’t been cleaned in a while, you walk around the lounge or kitchen and you’d either get black feet or black socks disgusting to say they were mopped when we turned up to start our holiday the owner/cleaner was still there so we were late going in and that wasn’t a good start to the holiday, on the tv screen there’s about 2 inches of dust you can’t hardly see the picture of the tv through disgusting, spider webs everywhere, the log fire had been used by the previous people and not been cleaned out, outside the property by the grass is a deep hole and my small dog went down it head first a few times then we had to block it off as one of the times my dog went down head first in the hole she’d cut her neck open so my husband had to put some logs in the hole while I stopped the bleeding of my dogs neck we took her to vets to get her checked out and they gave her antibiotics just in case of infection, me, my husband and our dog Lucky won’t be going back there again only good thing was the views you had.

Hi , Thank you for your feed back as you can see I normally get positive feed back so I'm sorry you felt the cottage wasn't satisfactory. Comments have been taken on board and I would like to reassure people that the external area that you mentioned has been checked, there is a drain with a cast iron cover, no other holes have been found. • "A return visit to the cosy Boshaw cottage during a bitterly cold week."

With minus temperatures outside, it was lovely to have the indoor fireplace (though it was quite hard work to keep the fire going, even for experienced ppl). The Christmas tree and the lovely lights were a welcome addition in mid-Dec. What makes this cottage exceptional is that it's super clean, has a very cosy living room, has lovely views and is very well-located. Plus a fantastic hot shower and a fantastic bathtub. The excellent WiFi means that I happily relied on it for work purposes (including conducting an interview). In an ideal world, there'd be a dishwasher instead of a washing machine, a chest of drawers in the right bedroom, some medium-sized bowls, and a bathroom bin with a lid. Very minor quibbles as we have already spoken about booking again, so overall, we still love the place. The kitchen does have a separate freezer by the way (current listing does not have this). My packing tips would be slippers as the kitchen floor is cold and any washing powder/pods if you want to use the washing machine. Finally, Longley Farm is just down the road so I do recommend doing an online Click & Collect order for before you come!

Everything was as you would hope for and we felt very much at home immediately. Our grandsons stayed with us and quickly found the stash of toys, which were in really good condition. Grandad was delighted with the TV and internet connection. The kitchen is well equipped and we all appreciated the tea, coffee, milk, biscuits and chocolates. Thanks for a lovely stay.

Lots of places to walk our dog locally and many many places are dog friendly. The butchers in the village are so convenient, both very different but each have superb products. The local pub The Boshaw Trout has great food and even supplied dog biscuits and bowls of water! Really enjoyed our stay and would love to return.

Comfortable and thoughtfully decorated cottage, had everything we needed. Beautiful views from the windows, loved sitting in the lounge looking at the hills. Welcome milk and treats were appreciated after a long journey. Great shower, mini toiletories even provided in the bathroom. In a good location, 7 mins drive from the centre of Holmfirth. We had a lovely Sunday roast at the Bowshaw trout at the end of the road, Totties garden centre 5 mins drive also do a great bacon roll with stunning views. Also enjoyed a fishy feast at Catch and a tasty mexican from Mexicali in Holmfirth. Yorkshire sculpture park is 25 minutes drive away and well worth a visit. We would like to come back.

  • "Whilst the cottage was comfortable and very clean and a great base for walking holidays, as a dog owner I couldn't recommend as a suitable property for dogs to stay."

It should be made clearer in description that there is no enclosed space - small front garden is shared and it's unsuitable to be used as a facility for dogs as the space is also used by small children. Dog owners also need to be aware that dogs have to be on lead at all times in surrounding lanes due to proximity of sheep/livestock.

  • "I booked this cottage with the understanding there was a pub within walking distance so I was very disappointed to be told 5 days before arriving that the pub was closed and being renovated, even more disappointed when I looked into this and found the pub had been closed since Christmas, which was prior to me booking the cottage."

This listing needs updated by the owner as this is still being advertised with the pub being open which is clearly not the case. Also the photo of the garden is misleading as this is a shared garden with 2 other cottages, and another garden in front of it through a gate but this is for private use only and the main photo you show, looks like you can have access to this which you can’t.
