  • "I would highly recommend Carder Cottage."

It was the perfect base to explore the Peak District. The cottage was spotlessly clean and has everything you would need for your stay, it really feels like home from home as soon as you walk in. The cottage is really well thought out, there was not a single negative! The welcome basket was a lovely touch and had everything you would need for your first night, including bread, butter and milk in the fridge. A short walk away you have the Ye old Cheshire Cheese inn, which served good quality and reasonably priced food with a welcoming and friendly atmosphere. We have stayed in a lot of holiday cottages over the years and this really was an amazing find! I read endless reviews before booking, long listing, short listing. In the end Cedar Cottage seemed the perfect place and I am glad to be proven right. So allow me to save you some time…. If you are thinking of booking your adventure, I suggest you book Carder Cottage now!

Thank you so much for your lovely review. We always aim to ensure our guests have a lovely holiday and your comments mean so much to us. It make's all the hard work worth it. Thank you and look forward to seeing you again Property Owner

  • "A lovely cottage with all the amenities necessary for a holiday."

It is spotless, pleasantly decorated and presented, and the description is accurate. The cottage is properly insulated and heated and it is noticeable how the street noise is very quiet when the windows are closed. The owners have thought of everything and we wanted for nothing. We liked the welcome pack which was appreciated along with the text message updating us on the slippery paving stones and dog cleaning hose - a nice personal touch. Longnor in March is quiet and the weather was mixed but the cottage, as a base, was excellent.

Thank you for your lovely review and we are so pleased you enjoyed your stay at Carder Cottage. Thank you also for leaving it as you found it, much appreciated. We have also now dealt with the slippery stones having given them their seasonal wash down. Hopefully we will see you again in the future. All the best Property Owner

  • "Perfect stay in a lovely cottage in a beautiful area."

We were there over Christmas and New Year and the owners had decorated the place for us and left thoughtful festive touches like Prosecco and mince pies, and even a goody bag for the dog. The cottage is warm and very comfortable and we also enjoyed the open fire. Well equipped too and spotlessly clean. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this cottage.

  • "This was the most beautiful of cottages."

Longnor is a lovely picturesque village with two shops and a fish and chip shop. Unfortunately the pub is closed for the foreseeable future. Everything you could need was provided. The standard of the furnishings and fittings was first class, 5* Hotel standard. The fantastic kitchen has a huge picture window looking on to the lovely little garden. We arrived at the same time as the snow and were snowed in for two whole days but we could walk to a neighbouring pub for lunch and sit by the log fire in the cottage of an evening. The cottage has great central heating and we couldn't have chosen a better place to be snowbound. Jooles and Mark contacted us to check we were ok and didn't need any supplies. We had more snow than most ski resorts this year. My sister and I will remember this holiday for ever.

Thank you for your kind words and so pleased you were able to relax and enjoy your break despite the snow. Hope to see you again in warmer weather. Property Owner

Longnor is an historical place with quaint facilities: grocery cum newspaper shop only yards away from the cottage, superb old fashioned fish and chip shop, and a welcoming cafe serving tasty hot meals and home made cakes to takeaway or eat inside. It is also well placed for all the beautiful villages, countryside , stately homes in the Peaks.

About our only criticism is to not approach from the direction of Bakewell if you get spooked by descending hairpin bends! (On the other hand, the view on the way down over the Upper Dove Valley and towards Chrome Hill is wonderful)

Thank you for your lovely feedback and yes when we first started driving that road it did make us hold our breath but as you say the view far out ways the fear and absolutely mustn’t be missed. Property Owner

  • "Fantastic cottage in a good location."

Owners have clearly been to a lot of trouble to provide well thought out and good quality facilities and everything was comfortable and very clean for our weekend here. We loved having breakfast and supper in the little secluded sun trap garden. Very generous welcome pack. Good walking from the door and the village has a pub, shop, post office and cafe. We would definitely stay here again. Only slight hitch was that the directions to the property were wrong so it took a while to find - it is on Carder Green, not Gautledge Lane and the house sign was obscured by a hanging basket.

Thank you for your lovely feedback and we have now corrected the directions. Hope to see you again Property Owner
