  • "Property excellent."

One of the best appointed cottages we have ever stayed in. V comfortable beds and large soft towels. Small bath towels are a pet hate of mine! Our only niggle was that the garden fencing was not adequate for a big dog. We improvised by blocking the gates at the bottom of the garden with the garden furniture. If we had not needed to do that it would have been perfect.

The walks along the canal were really lovely. Thank you to the owners for all of the care and attention you obviously take in getting then cottage ready for your guests.

  • "This is the second time I have stayed at Fox Cottage in Bollington."

The position of the cottage sandwiched between the Macc canal and the Middlewood way is idyllic for lovely walks with my dawg. Bollington itself is a 30 min walk into the centre or a 5 min drive for everything you need. The countryside in this area is beautiful. The cottage itself is super cosy, clean and warm. I very much look forward to staying again.

We are so glad you enjoyed your stay and we look forward to welcoming you back soon . Property Owner

  • "A lovely, cosy cottage in a good location for driving into the Peak District."

The owners have provided some nice personal touches which mean that, although small, the cottage is comfortable for two people. The garden is a good size and very secure for a dog. The proximity of both the canal path and the Middllewood Way, both within a few metres of the cottage, means that dog walks are not a problem.

  • "Had a great 3 nights stay recently, a lovely welcome pack, thank you."

The cottage is in a good location close to many attractions, although walking from doorstep with a pet could be a little precarious with the amount of traffic that runs by. Wi-Fi and the addition of a couple of smart tvs an added bonus, a great enclosed rear garden ideal for the dog. Just a couple of negatives the double bed not the most comfortable due to condition of the mattress, also on departure as I removed the bedding in the twin room I noticed that the mattress was badly stained. If these issues were resolved I would not hesitate in visiting again in the near future. Many thanks Pete……

  • "Good location especially for walking."

Lovely garden. A lot of money has been spent on this cottage but unfortunately not that well equipped - no mirror in main bedroom or bins in any bedroom. No oven gloves, colander or sieve in tge kitchen. The cottage was full of cobwebs and with broken glass in the dishwasher when we arrived which is a shame as it has the makings of a great place.

  • "What a gorgeous cottage in a beautiful setting."

The cottage was well equipped with everything you would require to make your stay enjoyable. We were a family of four and stayed for a few days- wish it could have been longer. The canal is seconds away and other country walks are just on your doorstep. The garden is a great size and our dog loved it, we will definitely return.

Lovely welcome touches like soap, shampoo, chocolates, lager and crisps helped make the stay even more perfect. The garden was perfect for our dogs and the cleanliness of the cottage was excellent, even the towels and bed linen smelled lovely. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend Fox Bank Cottage.

  • "In addition to the welcome pack, the owner provided everything needed to feel like a home-from-home."

We appreciated the lack of notices - do this / don't do that - just a beautifully presented family home that, hopefully, holidaymakers respected and enjoyed. We made the most of walks from the cottage but it was also a great base for the Peaks and the city. We hope to return soon!

  • "We had a lovely stay at the Fox Bank Cottage!"

It's located at a scenic and tranquilising area so that means it's great for a retreat or relaxing holiday. Listening to the crackling and popping sound of the burning woods is the best way to wind down in a chilly evening. The kitchen is well equipped with everything we need if decided to have a night in enjoying home cooked food. A pub is just down the road if want to have something different. However, there are couple of things that might have been overlooked: - the snacks in the welcoming basket have been expired before we moved in or they might have been left from previous clients? - it'd be nice if there are some toiletries available until we manage to get some from the shops and a refill for toilet and kitchen rolls

About the location

Macclesfield 4 miles; Buxton 13 miles; Manchester 20 miles.

Where the Cheshire plains meet the peaks in the “Happy Valley” sits the delightful town of Bollington. With a rich heritage in the cotton spinning industry, there’s still plenty of surviving mills and a network of canals. Standing high above the town on Kerridge Hill is the landmark of “White Nancy” built in 1817 to commemorate the victory at the Battle of Waterloo. Today the town is a thriving community within the Manchester commuter belt resulting in a very bohemian atmosphere. Unlike most places, there are still plenty of busy pubs and a bounty of eateries, bars and cafés. It’s a very short hop to the bustling city of Manchester or the majesty and breathtaking beauty of the Peak District National Park.
