  • "This was a lovely cottage."

The only drawback was the stairs , this was not mentioned on the listing. Only noticed on arrival, this was difficult for me as I have accessibility issues. Beautiful surroundings nearby. Great great places to visit

hi Paula,I understand your concerns with the stairs but we cannot do anything about that, it is a two storey cottage,Also thank you for your feedback back but it doesn't reflect in your scoring? you have only give us 75% on everything? After saying how lovely the cottage is? please can you give more details so we can address any issues, Many thanks Property Owner

  • "We really enjoyed our stay at Corner House Cottage."

It was central for visiting a number of National Trust properties, and we particularly enjoyed our visit to the National Arboretum. Our only disappointment was that the oven did not work properly (which the owner informed us about on our arrival), so we ate out more than we were intending.

thank you for your feedback.it was disappointing to find out the fan had stopped working, the oven is less than 2 years old and will be fixed or replaced, Many thanks Property Owner

  • "The cottage was clean and comfortable."

We only missed a standing lamp for reading in the lounge (essential) and a butter dish (less essential but handy). Fantastic shower! There was a slight problem with the instructions we received from Sykes as they stated the wrong house number (10 instead of 2). We can certainly recommend the cottage!

Hi Margot, is it possible you could let us know what information in the description was lacking to help us move forward? If it was the information passed on to you by Sykes then there is nothing we can do about it as a owner, although I will pass this information back to Sykes so the mistake cannot happen again. Thank you for your stay and we hope to see you again, many thanks Property Owner

Overall very clean but we found food left in the kitchen cupboards from previous guests and mouldy bread in the bread bin. That said, we enjoyed our stay in this lovely warm cottage, great walks from the door and good pub next door, would definitely stay again, thank you

  • "Beautiful and tastefully restored cottage, and equipped to a high standard."

Superb shower facilities as well. Having its own private off road parking area, for two cars was a big plus, as village parking was at a premium. Being adjoined to The Black Horse public house raised no issues, but will say the food and service there was excellent. Well placed for great walks, to the nearby reservoir, and a short drive to the park and ride tramway. We will go back.

We have stayed in many UK holiday homes and this has definitely been the best equipped one of the lot. We are a young family so we do have a lot of meals at home and very rarely do they have everything we need apart from this one. Really lovely airy space and really comfortable. Excellent having the lean to for the bikes, made our lives so much easier! Great location and lots of things to do locally as well as just on the cusp of the national park.

The first key things you want in a holiday cottage are a comfy bed and a good shower - big ticks on both counts! Really spacious and nice touches everywhere. We didn't really cook as we were visiting family but the kitchen is fantastic and definitely a place well equipped to cook whatever you need. Parking and check in were easy. Had a lovely stay and will be back!

  • "The cottage was a fabulous place to stay."

There was a welcome pack on arrival (Coffee, tea, sugar, biscuits, bread and milk), the owners exceeded our expectations. A wonderful touch and it was very appreciated. The cottage was well stocked with everything we needed and was furnished to a very high standard. Andrew, the owner, was very helpful and gave advice on the area. We always find showers in holiday cottages a bit of a let down compared to the one we have at home but the owners hadn’t skimped on their choice of shower, it certainly matched the one we have at home in both power and space. If you like to be connected to the internet you won’t be disappointed staying here. The TV is run through the internet therefore you have a good choice of channels and whilst we were there we never lost connection on our iPads/computer. This cottage is situated in a lovely area suitable for walkers (I was more than happy), golfers (my husband was spoilt for choice) and a treasure trove of places to visit. There is only one thing I would point out, if you have a problem getting up stairs this cottage may not be for you. This is an old building, beautifully refurbished, however the staircase is not to today’s requirement, it is a little steeper than modern staircases, there is nothing the owners could do to rectify this. Having said that I would highly recommend this cottage and will hopefully return.
