  • "We had a wonderful time at 8 Drabbles Road."

The house was perfectly located for our needs and only a short walk into town. The house was very Comfy, clean and the large bath in the beautiful upstairs bathroom was most welcome after a long day out! Parking was nice and easy right outside house. We had noticed a slight issue with a leaking radiator in the top bedroom. We raised this to the owners straight away and it was dealt with and fixed sameday! All in all we really enjoyed our stay and would happily stay again.

  • "We stayed as a group of friends and children."

The house was very modern, comfortable and stylish. The heating was very good, the towels were fantastic and the facilities (especially the huge bath and shower) we’re all excellent. We had the beds separated into twins to suit us, but the quilts were tiny & so I’d recommend taking your own! Also the house is up a very steep hill, walking down into Matlock was ok, but coming back (a few of us, including my 5y/o found it very hard!!) they are missing a lamp in the living room- it was very dark. These minor things aside, the house is lovely & our stay was very relaxing. Matlock and Matlock bath are a great holiday location.

  • "Great location, plenty of space, comfortable beds & lovely bath!"

A washing machine would be needed for longer stays and little extras like more than one tea towel, a hairdryer, sufficient logs and gas in the fire lighters included would be nice. The house was clean but bits had been missed....the glasses in the cupboards were dirty, dust hanging from the ceilings, mantelpieces and window sills were dirty. Good house overall, but for the price charged it should be great.

  • "Lovely house."

Well equipped. It would be good to have a washing machine as well just for washing walking gear etc but otherwise house is great comfortable and well located for the Peaks. Family had a fabulous stay there. Thanks

  • "Two of us had a fabulous stay at this property."

It really feels like a home rather than a rental property! It is finished to a very high standard including AEG/Bosch electricals in the kitchen. Fantastic collection of DVDs to keep you entertained in the lounge. Really comfy beds. Bathroom fantastic (great water pressure)- even better when you remember to turn the heated floor on. Some of the previous reviews are still relevant - pillows can be a bit firm but managed to find a softer one from a spare bedroom. There is now a microwave (Oct 21), however, still no washing machine although there is plumbing for it in the lockable room outside. Parking outside property and short downhill walk into Matlock itself. Minor quibbles aside, really lovely home and would definitely return.

Also some of us found the pillows very hard!

  • "The team over at Skye Cottages are really hopeful and friendly."

The communication from the team is fantastic and they're quick to resolve or clarify on any issues. I would definitely book another holiday through this service.

A special bonus were the neighbours at number 6 who were great company.

  • "The house is beautifully decorated and furnished and well equipped except for the absence of a washing machine which I believe the owners plan to install."

We had a very comfortable stay in a lovely town in a beautiful part of the country with lots to see and do. Our party included young children who were happy and comfortable too.

  • "The house was really clean upon arrival and matched description."

Very well appointed house and ideal for our holiday - cycling Derbyshire trails. Unfortunately most places were still closed so we had to dine in but I’m sure that will improve as Covid conditions lift.

  • "2020 has been difficult and this is the only weekend away we've all had."

We had the BEST time. The house is spotless from top to bottom, the beds were beyond comfy and the facilities were amazing. We felt like we were on holiday. Genuinely could have just moved in, that's how good the house is. 100% recommend and we will be back!

  • "Absolutely gorgeous house, very stylish and very cosy and comfortable."

Facilities were great but there were some things that were not provided - e.g. salt, pepper, oil that we had to run out and get. I'm assuming this is a COVID regulation though so would still definitely recommend this house again!

  • "The house was really nice as advertised."

It was very clean and the garden has a nice patio to relax in. Bedrooms were spacious and facilities (bed/kitchen appliances etc. ) are of high quality and very comfortable. Bath and shower facilities were amazing, great water pressure. There was not enough cleaning products like sponges, bin bags and toilet paper for our stay, would recommend bringing your own or if not there's a large Sainsbury's just 4 mins drive/15 mins walk away. But overall, lovely place to stay and location very close to plenty of peak District scenic spots.

  • "Thank you for your good work."

The place was immaculate however the shower trap needed cleaning on arrival : left unattended, this will cause damp problems ! I’ve already mentioned it to the Service company. The place could benefit from a washing machine or better still a Washer/ dryer. Several guests though they’d like to revisit with family and a laundry facility would be missed on longer stays. The keys to the front lounge sliding sash windows were not available hence we couldn’t vent it after using the Woodburner. There were no spare bin bags : nor wheely bins Outside. We guessed this is COVID19 regs? There was Twas and coffee cocoa and chic biscuits even! All the kitchen appliances were too spec too. The very minor things aside, it’s a fantastic place and the owners should be proud of the quality of decorative finish! Also of the beautiful Woodburners: absolutely great atmosphere with these in both lounge and kitchen - all ready to go with fuel and cleaning sets etc ! Many kind thanks again. We would definitely recommend Sykes Cottages in general and this cottage in particular to others. Tim

  • "Absolutely loved the property, it was comfy, well maintained and great layout."

With the option of three double beds. Good location and parking on the road. Some rooms were slightly dusty and a few cobwebs in places but generally the place was pretty clean.

  • "Obviously we were hesitant about going away during a pandemic, and with local lockdowns all around, but the process was made really easy by Sykes, with helpful information before we went and we were particularly impressed with a 3pm check-in time when there was also all the extra cleaning to be done."

We were also pleased to find that far from seeing us as a threat the their health, the locals were happy to welcome us into their shops and attractions (within the rules), making it as much a holiday as it could be in these unpredictable times.

  • "Modern and comfortable accommodation."

Very tasteful decoration and artwork around the place. Bedrooms were all excellent with beds and bedding that were extremely comfortable. The kitchen was very well equipped, a microwave would have been a useful addition but a minor point). In the lounge furniture was again comfortable, limited TV reception wasn't great but 100's of DVD's were supplied. Good quality garden furniture - table, chairs and parasol; there was also a BBQ available. We went in August and it was very hot, so wood burners, heating etc wasn't touched. Finally, WC on the 1st floor was fine, all modern fittings etc. and the main bathroom/shower room on the 2nd floor was just a nice place to be!

  • "This is a beautiful and stylish cottage in a great location."

The owners have renovated the property incredibly well and the cleaning company were extremely friendly and helpful. We didn’t have any complaints at all about the cottage but do think it would really benefit from having both a washing machine and a microwave. The information pack in the cottage was helpful but could do with having WiFi details documented. We enjoyed our stay at Drabbles Road and would recommend it to others.
