“The house is beautifully decorated and furnished and well equipped except for the absence of a washing machine which I believe the owners plan to install.”

We had a very comfortable stay in a lovely town in a beautiful part of the country with lots to see and do. Our party included young children who were happy and comfortable too.

The property

8 Drabbles Road is a stunning three-storey Victorian cottage sitting on the edge of the charming town of Matlock, hidden within the delightful countryside setting of Derbyshire.

Open up the cheerful yellow door and step inside the welcoming hallway where you can take off your coats and shoes, placing them in the handy under-stairs cupboard.

Enter into the well-decorated sitting room and admire the stylish combination of the navy blue walls and green velvet sofa, as you place a log on the pretty woodburning stove, turn on the TV and sink into the leather couch.

With its trendy grey gloss cabinets, brightly painted teal walls and a breakfast bar with hanging lights, this 'of the times' kitchen is at the heart of the home providing the perfect place to socialise with your friends and family as you crack open a bottle of fine red wine and gather all the essentials needed from this well-equipped space to cook up a fabulous feast.

Once the plates have been cleared and are ready to be washed in the convenient dishwasher, huddle at the dining table to map out your plans for the next few days to come.

Climb the staircase with excitement as you locate your bedroom for the duration of your stay.

The first floor is home to a king-size bedroom with peaceful green walls and crisp white bedding with ample space to store your belongings in the fitted wardrobe.

The popular Peak District town of Matlock, together with its neighbour, Matlock Bath, has been attracting visitors to the area since the spa was developed in the late 17th century. Set in the beautiful wooded gorge of the River Derwent, the Matlocks offer a range of shops, pubs and restaurants, as well as a host of attractions including Gulliver’s Kingdom and the Peak District Mining Museum. Magnificent views down the gorge can be enjoyed from the cable car which takes visitors up to the Heights of Abraham – a great place for all the family with its showcaves, nature trail, water gardens and Owl Maze. South of the town is the start of the High Peak Cycle Trail, whilst a short drive away is the National Tramway Museum at Crich.
