“At the time of booking, the cottage was stated to include the use of a hot tub.”

I believe that we paid a small premium for this compared to other similar properties without a hot tub. I accept that there may have been valid reasons for removing the hot tub, but we should have been informed of this prior to our arrival, and possibly offered a small partial refund to compensate for that not being available. ...

I believe that we paid a small premium for this compared to other similar properties without a hot tub. I accept that there may have been valid reasons for removing the hot tub, but we should have been informed of this prior to our arrival, and possibly offered a small partial refund to compensate for that not being available. The kitchen was also a little under equipped lacking decent size dinner plates, limited saucepans, no small glasses etc, and even the odd basic, like a potato peeler for example. Despite these comments, I would still recommend this place and would return.

About the location

MIDDLETON BY WIRKSWORTH

Wirksworth 1.7 miles; Matlock 5 miles.

The former quarry and lead mining village of Middleton quietly nestles on a prominent hillside above the nearby towns of Wirksworth and Cromford, 5 miles from Matlock. The village is centred on a long main street which consists of two good pubs, before eventually winding its way down into nearby Wirksworth with a selection of shops and amenities. The village was the Silver Gilt winner for the National Village in Bloom awards in 2016 and 2017. The surrounding countryside is a walker's and cyclist's paradise, with the disused High Peak Railway line close by, recently converted into The High Peak Cycle Trail and providing a fun day out for all. Nearby Matlock provides a good range of shops and pubs, whilst the many National Trust properties and museums throughout the area are not to be missed. A great location at any time of year!
