  • "The owners Bev and Brian are lovely people, very hospitable and do all they can to sort any issues I've had some serious health issues in the past 3 years having been previously very fit."

It has affected my mobility and although I managed the stairs it could affect those less able. The cottage is cosy but we found it dark downstairs despite some beautiful weather outside. It is much brighter upstairs. The garden is beautiful but you are aware that it's very much the owners domain. However there is a nice patio area for occupants of Daisy Chain Cottage which is attached to the owners main home. The location is perfect for exploring Matlock, Bakewell , Buxton and the peak district. Brian and Bev are very accommodating and they respond immediately to any problems. They also have a delightful young retriever, Hugo , who was ill during our stay but ,hopefully, on the road to recovery when we left. Ŵe enjoyed our stay after a difficult year enabling us to recuperate. Thanks Bev and Brian.

Thank you both for your feedback we’re glad you were able to find time and space here to recuperate and relax after your difficult year. We are sorry it felt that the garden was our domain, unfortunately that week our dog was poorly so we had to let him out in the garden more instead of him going on his usual lovely local walks so it must have looked like we were there more often than usual. He loved having you there as you were so kind and friendly with him. Our guests are very welcome to enjoy sitting beside the stream under the pagola and largely have the garden to them selves. Thank you you for letting us know it felt a bit darker in the cottage downstairs, this was due to the sun sail attached to the wall above the window which will have kept it cool in the September heatwave but not allow as much light in, we will change the sail to a parasol so that this does not cause problems in the future. All the very best to you both you are warmly welcome to come back to Daisy Chain cottage anytime Property Owner

  • "Our stay at Daisy Chain Cottage was very pleasant indeed; we were made very welcome by Brian and Bev and shown how to use the key safe number they had given us over the telephone."

Once we had the key we did not need the key safe again as, on leaving we handed it back to Bev in the Homestead which was next door. If you use Google World, you only have to insert 'The Homestead, Tansley, Matlock, UK' and it goes immediately to the overhead view which shows the entrance gate, parking area, steps, etc. Our visit was on a bank holiday weekend but the traffic and the entrance gate was no problem at all. Once inside the delightful cosy cottage one felt at ease and relaxed. The living room has a large TV and two double (low) settees; great for youngsters but, being 77 and 82, we had trouble rising from their comfortable grip. The kitchen dinner was extremely well supplied with a table and four chairs, and an ample working space, cutlery, dishes and glasses plus cooking utensils, an induction hob (complete with instruction book), full electric oven, microwave, toaster and kettle. Everything, the fact, necessary to feed a family of four. There was no dishwasher but it was a joy to do the washing-up oneself! Up the well carpeted stairs are two double bedrooms complete with all the necessary linen and pillows. In the evening, with the doors closed, the road noise was almost unheard and we slept very well. At the end of the landing was the bathroom with large bath and a circular shower curtain which we both managed quite well. The wash hand basin was adequate with instant hot and cold water, and soap. No shampoo or shower gel was supplied but we had our own. The only toilet in the house was also in the bathroom and, we imagined, it could cause a problem with four occupants. Windows looked out over the pleasant garden at the back, and in the other direction: the A615, with fields beyond. We found no faults with this accommodation other than the rather high price for a couple. David and Gwenyth Mary Salt

We are so pleased that you enjoyed your time here with us , thank you so much for your positive feedback. It was lovely to meet you both. We do try our very best to provide homely clean accommodation for a wonderful relaxed holiday here in our beautiful Derbyshire Peak District It gives us so much pleasure to know that our guests have had a comfortable and happy stay. You are most welcome to return to daisy chain cottage anytime you are in the area in the future. Property Owner

  • "It was not clear from the website listing that the parking space was accessed by reversing off such a busy main road on quite a downhill slope."

When I queried parking with the Sykes rep I understood from her answer that we would drive down a side road to access the parking space from the back of the house. Also previous customer comments had said that the noise of traffic on the road outside could not be heard inside the house as the walls were so thick. However, we heard the traffic noise very clearly at all times of day with windows shut, even being woken up by heavy vehicles passing at 6.30am. Apart from the traffic noise it was a comfortable, cosy cottage with a very pleasant back garden to look at from the back of the kitchen and lounge. The other side of these rooms looked out at traffic passing along the road.

Thank you for your feedback, it's nice to see you enjoyed the cottage and the garden including the garden views! I'm sorry to hear that some road noise affected your stay; from our feedback, noise is not something most of our guests comment on and people usually find being near a road very useful for being able to drive to all the sightseeing attractions in nearby Matlock and further afield. The property has this advantage along with of course also offering beautiful countryside walks from the accomodation. Regarding parking, there is not a slope as such, rather a slight gradient in a safe area which is open for you to manoeuvre your car and leave safely, leaving no need to reverse. We do hope you enjoyed your stay regardless of the issues you experienced. Property Owner

  • "Daisy Chain Cottage is a beautifully and tastefully decorated cottage, furnished to a high standard, well equipped, spotlessly clean and very well situated for the main towns, villages and landscapes of the Peak District."

Our stay was relatively short and we felt very comfortable during the time we were there. We were given a warm welcome by Bev and Brian, who live in the house adjoining the cottage, and they sensitively gave us the space we needed. Just a couple of downsides: the close proximity to the main road, which could be a little noisy, and the noise transfer between the two houses, which meant the cottage didn't feel quite so private at times.

  • "This beautiful cottage is everything we needed for a blissful weekend discovering the Peak District."

The cottage is very comfortable, with plenty of space for the two of us. The bed was lovely & comfy, the cleanliness was outstanding and the whole experience was very special. The hosts live next door and were just lovely. Bingo the Labrador was a cute & occasional visitor. The cottage is on a busy road but you can’t hear the traffic as the walls are so thick! We are now home, with sore muscles from our hill walks and huge smiles on our faces. We will most definitely be back.

  • "A beautiful cottage which was exceptionally clean and well presented."

The owners live next door and are so lovely. We worried our two boys would be too noisy but it never felt like a problem! They were just so welcoming. Although not in the heart of the Peak District, the cottage felt well situated to get to all the attractions we wanted to see. The pub in the village was a nice 15 minute walk away with great food and a playground. Matlock is easily accessible from the cottage- 5 minute drive. Would recommend for a lovely UK break.

  • "The cottage and the gardens were perfect and immaculate, everything we had hoped it would be."

The owners were very friendly and very accommodating. It was extremely hot the week we stayed and there was only 1 fan in the cottage, we asked if they had a spare one for our daughter, they didn't but borrowed one for us and then went out a bought a new one for us, for which we were extremely grateful. The area around Tansley is beautiful and the people very friendly. We loved the local pub The Gate Inn and visited several times, the staff were great with us and the food and drinks were lovely. We would definitely come back to this area and would definitely stay at Daisy Chain Cottage again and also recommend it to family and friends.
