The downstairs double bedroom did get a bit cold in the evening but a small heater was provided by the owner.

  • "The owners put a lot of effort into this holiday home."

It was extremely clean. The kitchen had everything, home from home. The settees were very comfortable as were the beds. It was a pleasure to sit out at night, with the waterfall and light features, gave us some ideas. The Adult size bunkbeds were also comfortable and unique, having being made by the owner. If we go to Matlock again, would definitely book this property

The garden was beautiful and very peaceful. The welcome pack was a lovely touch, especially including the bottle of wine. The cottage owner provided information on the area which was useful. We will definitely go back again.

It was a lovely cottage and more than covered all our needs but we didn’t expect it to be so far from the centre of Matlock and up such a big hill

  • "Absolutely loved our stay in Amber Cottage!"

It’s beautifully decorated and was spotless when we arrived. Had everything you could want for a relaxed week in a home away from home - including a welcome basket and essential kitchen and bathroom items. Great spot to enjoy the Peak District from and wonderful recommendations from Carol. Lovely place to relax or work from location too! Very highly recommended - though worth noting there is a very steep hill to walk back from town (we enjoyed the challenge and credit of 29 flights of stairs to daily activity) and the beds are fairly firm!

It was extremely clean and very well equipped. There was a delicious basket of 'goodies' to welcome us and everything was organised and neat. We would definitely recommend this cottage to a couple or a family and we will rebook when we next visit the area.

  • "Amber Cottage is a gem of a place which has been prepared to the highest standard throughout."

The owner, Carol, went out of her way to ensure a smooth arrival and stay. Little touches such as milk in the fridge and a welcome basket of goodies were well received and appreciated. Matlock its self is a great place to visit and is good base to explore the Peak District.

  • "Easy key collection and assigned parking close to property."

Lovely welcome pack and milk in fridge. Could relax with a cup of tea straight away. The cottage was cosy and well equipped, we wanted for nothing. Lovely garden on two levels, to catch the morning sun. Great walks strait from the cottage with with good views. Probably best to take the car down to the town for shopping; the walk back up is challenging!

  • "Rarely have we visited a cottage that is so well equipped."

The owners seem to have thought of everything and also left a thoughtful welcome basket. A very pretty cottage in a very pretty location.

  • "We stayed for 2 nights & everything was perfect."

The kitchen has every utensil/gadget you could possibly think of. The cottage was immaculate, towels, bedding & soft furnishings were all lovely too. The beds/sofas were comfortable. The cottage felt very safe & secure & has it’s own parking space too. Several walking trails nearby to take you off out into the Peak District & Chatsworth House isn’t far either. The cottage is at the top of a hill however as walkers, this wasn’t a problem for us. There is a sainsbury’s & a co-op amongst other shops in the town at the bottom of the hill & a couple of little local bars closer to the cottage. Overall would throughly recommend and stay here again in future when we’re next in the Peaks.

  • "The cottage was very clean and well equipped and was a lovely place to stay."

The welcome basket and note was lovely. Very near to Matlock town centre. Walking back up the hill was an experience! Great location to explore the Peak District. The patio area was lovely and we did get to sit out there briefly during our stay. Loved all the plants and the decor. The only issue we had is that my husband is 6ft 4 and he struggled to fit in the bed as it had a footboard. This is shown in the photos, so we took the risk as it was a last minute booking and everything else looked great. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it as a place to stay though.

  • "We had a lovely stay at Amber cottage at the end of September, the accommodation was sparkling clean and comfortable with really thoughtful touches and amenities."

The host was very helpful and communicative, and the place itself was a 15 minute walk downhill into Matlock (coming back up meant we earned our bakery goodies). Would definitely recommend staying here.

  • "We had a fantastic stay in Amber Cottage."

The accommodation far exceeded our expectations. It was spotlessly clean, was so homely, cosy and comfortable and had everything there you could want or need. The bunk beds were the best I have ever seen, so big and so easy to get in and out of with the staircase at the end. The house was decorated to a really high standard with fantastic quality bedding and towels. The outdoor areas are not overlooked and have beautiful plants out there plus a seating area on both the top and bottom patio. Sadly we did not get much opportunity to use them as we had a lot of rain whilst we were there. Lots of places to visit within close proximity. Would highly recommend a stay here ! Should be 5 star not 3 !! We will come back for another stay.

The owners had thought of everything ,how to use all equipment, there was plenty of it and there were extra touches of milk waiting ,toilet and kitchen rolls tea coffee and communication on day of arrival .The accommodation was on a very big Hill so walking into town was okay but walking back was exshaunting so we used the car very pretty town lots there . Lovely holiday lovely location lovely cottage we'd go again and recommend it .☺

  • "Absolutely beautiful house."

Charming garden areas, perfect for eating and drinking out there on summer mornings/evenings. Located on a big hill at the top of Matlock. This property was immaculate and very well stocked with coffee machine, dvd player, etc. The only thing we would have liked is an outdoor light for the top patio, and some additional cutlery. The second bedroom (in our case the children's room has the best bunk bed ever in! A solid wooden staircase and door to the top, and a constellation ceiling for the bottom bunk! Very comfy and large beds in both rooms. Very friendly owners too when we ran into them at the end of our stay. My son left some things behind which Carol kindly posted back to us. Would highly recommend this place!
