But, would definitely help the experience and we’d love to stop there for longer :)

Unfortunately my asthma was affected by the feather cushions in the property as I mentioned on my previous feedback last year, May 2022. My husband moved them to the chair that we didn't use, but just being in the property was enough to affect me.

It had everything we needed including fantastic views, great weather and even a pub right next door! The fridge freezer was slightly noisy but it didn’t really bother us, everything else was perfect and very dog friendly which was great. I would highly recommend the snug to anyone. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our time here and would definitely visit again

  • "Really beautiful house, perfect for a short break away."

Brilliant location next door to a lovely pub and not far from town itself (walk back is a bit steep!). Kitchen was really well equipped and the house was comfortable and clean. It was easy to contact the owners (who were very helpful) during the stay. Parking on the road is easy, however, I did find a note on my car on the Thursday from the binmen asking me not to park there in future on bin day so may be worth bearing in mind. We have already recommended the property to friends and family and hope to be back in future.

  • "We had a lovely bank holiday weekend in Matlock and the cottage was a lovely place to call home for a few days."

It had everything we needed, was cosy and welcoming. The pub next door was great and everyone was really friendly. The view from the cottage and pub is stunning and makes it extra special. Car parking is tight, the cottage is down a narrow lane, however we did manage to park outside the cottage without any problems even with quite a wide car. If walking into Matlock be aware that the walk back is up a very steep and long hill. Thank you for an enjoyable stay!

  • "Was quite happy with our stay at the The Snug."

It was very quiet, even being next door to the pub. Learned quickly not to park in front of cottage, as lorries need to squeeze by to deliver to pub and collect rubbish. Plentiful parking nearby though. The only negatives were the first night, we realised that there wasn't a spatula in the cottage, so we texted the owner. They said someone must have taken it. We did expect a replacement to be forthcoming, but did not receive, so had to purchase our own for the stay.

The only problem with the lounge was 'the feather cushions'. Lots of people have allergys these days and even being away from the settee I suffered with that allergy. The bed was so comfy and the shower was a lovely size. The pub next door was a delight as the people were so friendly and did a delicious Sunday lunch. The views from the cottage were amazing. We also were only a few miles from Matlock and Matlock bath. Lots of places to visit nearby.

  • "We loved our stay at the Snug!"

It was such a comfortable base and provided us with everything we needed for our stay. The location is fab as was only a short drive (or walk if you fancy tackling the hills on the way back) into Matlock town centre and Matlock Bath. We would definitely recommend!

  • "Needed a base for a couple of nights in Matlock and this place was perfect!"

Very close to the amenities but please note, this property is located on a steep hill, we walked up a couple of times but it may be a struggle for some. The Snug was spotlessly clean and tidy with good equipment. Little touches like the toiletries and the tea, coffee and biscuits (for both us and the dog) were a nice extra. Only negative was that the fridge was very noisy, as this house is open plan, it did mean we could hear it through the night. The property is situated right next door a pub and on Friday evening we were awoken by the noise of people talking in the garden until around 1245am. However we didn’t hear anything from customers the previous night so it definitely wouldn’t put us off staying here again. A lovely little house!

  • "An absolutely fabulous cottage."

Wonderful location, in a lovely town. It does have very steep hills in every direction from the main town, though. The cottage is next door to THE best pub in Matlock. The courtyard back garden gets the sun most of the day, and the views from the front of the house are truly magnificent. Parking outside the cottage can be problematic during pub opening hours, and you must leave space for the binmen on Thursday morning (something we didn't know about and were awoken at 8.30 to move our car). It's the only slight quibble as there are loads of tiny narrow streets that look like people's driveways in Matlock. We can't recommend this cottage enough.
