Beautiful scenery with walks from the doorstep. Quiet and peaceful location with cows in the field. This was not a problem for us, but something to be aware of is that the ground floor is on split levels. Two big steps up from the kitchen to the dining room and one smaller step from the dining room to the lounge. Would definitely recommend and hope to return in the future.

It was perfect for the 2 family's (4 adults, 3 children - 4/2/2). When i booked it i was a bit worried about the split levels with the children but they soon learnt one was the play room, one dining room and the kitchen which they kept out of, so wasn't a problem at all. It was very clean, great facilities, good location as a base and hosts very very friendly. Thank you for having us :)

,which is the word all of our group used to describe the barn, there were 8 of us from various parts of the country with different backgrounds , we all found a high degree of comfort & cleanliness , very spacious inside, with plenty of outside areas as well. the location was also the perfect place to get away from it all, some of us had the opportunity to meet a few of the locals in the churchyard on Sunday ,extremely open & friendly , so much so I had a wonderful chat with a local lady as we walked around the graveyard , in summary : the only thing we will change for our return next year is , we will go back in the summer :) on behalf of us all thank You mick

The house is gorgeous and immaculately clean providing everything you need .For our party of 8 it was like our own little home from home . Karen the owner is so friendly and came to chat when we first got there but then you don't hear from her unless you need to speak to her. This is meant as a compliment to karen meaning she is there to greet you and explain where everything is but not to the extent that she's keeping an eye on you all the time , a lovely welcoming lady.(sorry if we made too much noise karen :( ).Ther is also the added bonus of cows and calves who are also very friendly right next to the house really cute . I would definitely recommend this house and will be staying here again . Thanks Karen x

  • "We stayed for 3 nights at the beginning of March, as a group of 8 friends."

The welcome gift of a bottle of Prosecco and cup cakes was a nice touch and appreciated. The barn is stunning with plenty of space and comfort to entertain. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you would need. There is underfloor heating downstairs and a gas log fire. The fire was not needed as the barn was warm and toasty. There is a main bathroom and an ensuite bathroom, always with hot water. The bedrooms are spacious and comfortable. There is an easy check in/out procedure in place. We went out for a meal in the pub down the lane, Ye Olde Mustard Pot, the first evening which is a 10 minute walk. They were short staffed and the service was very slow, so hard to rate it on this occasion. We took a taxi into Holmfirth the following day which cost £16.70 one way for a car of 4. Holmfirth is very picturesque with plenty of pubs and places to eat and 'Last of the Summer Wine' filming locations to see. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Stoneycroft Barn and I would fully recommend it. There is nothing I can fault at all.

Daughter, son-in-law, only grandchild all from Australia, son and wife from Leeds and us from Buckinghamshire. The property was fabulous. The photos had not done it justice, much roomier than we expected. Karen, the owner had decorated it for Christmas, a nice welcoming card, mince pies and a bottle of Prosecco in the fridge, how thoughtful was that. The underfloor heating on the ground floor made it very comfortable. We paid so we took the en-suite which was very spacious and comfy. All the other bedrooms were excellent. After we had booked it we learned that the Mustard Pot Inn was closed permanently which was a major disappointment but in the end we did not miss it. The parking was more generous than described 4 small to medium cars would fit. We had two extra people for Christmas lunch and it was voted the best Christmas ever by one of them. The whole experience was unanimously voted a huge success.

The beds were extremely comfortable and it was helpful to have a cot provided. The location also provided a great base for exploring the local area and peak district and there were some great local walks, particularly down to the reservoir that we could do with pushchairs. It is a beautiful barn conversion in stunning countryside. The beds were so comfortable and the fluffy towels and soft carpets upstairs made it feel very luxurious. Downstairs the layout worked perfectly, with a very well equipped kitchen. In the lounge was a great Smart TV with all the apps and channels you could ever need. Free WIFI too. Very friendly owner, who we only spoke to but gave our group advice on where to go shopping in Stocksbridge. Great venue for walkers and the pub down the lane, albeit closed due to a fire at present, looks like a great place to eat. Highly recommend this venue and we hope to visit again.
