  • "Lovely clean, comfortable and spacious holiday home in a great location for exploring Yorkshire and Derbyshire."

Good communication from the property manager prior to our stay in which she apologised for damage to the bath caused by the previous guests and offered a takeaway voucher which was gladly received. Our only disappointment and criticism was the fact the previous guests also left dog mess in the garden which they cannot deny knowledge of due to the amount!! Luckily we found this before our 18 month old granddaughter did! All in all we had a great break in a lovely home with everything you could want on a short break.

Hi Paul, Thank you for your feedback. I am so happy that you enjoyed your stay at our home. Thank you for being understanding regarding the issues that we were unable to resolve with such a tight turn around over a difficult period of year. We would be very happy to welcome back should you so wish to visit us again. I was more than happy to help you and enable you to have a lovely stay with us. Property Owner

  • "A beautiful comfy home, plenty of luxury."

We needed to clean the coffee machine and bbq before we could use it and the ice machine needed sorting as was frozen up. There is no hair dryer in any room which was disappointing for the luxury of the home. But we enjoyed our stay.

Thank you for your feedback, and we are happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay. A hairdryer is provided in the en-suite to the master bedroom, however this has now been moved to a near-by shelf so that it is not missed in the future. The BBQ and coffee machine were both cleaned prior to your stay, however we do apologise if there were any issues. Lastly, we have reviewed the ice machine following your stay, and can confirm that it is in full working order. Thank you again. Property Owner

  • "The house was lovely."

We were disappointed there seemed to be nowhere to hang washing outside. There were no plugs near to mirrors to do hair upstairs and a lack of bins upstairs. There were no oven gloves either. Apart from that the house was of high quality and very clean. We loved the Pennine trail.

Hi Deena, Thank you for your feedback. All feedback is much appreciated so that we can act upon any issues guests perceive, so that we can better our property and service. I would like to note that there are 3 bins upstairs, 1 in every bathroom. Regarding the mirrors, we apologise if you were unable to find suitable places near to the plug sockets. We do frequently have to replace the moveable mirrors due to guest damages. Property Owner

  • "The shower was broke on arrival as it was leaking into the kitchen- this meant one of the showers was out of bounds but we we were not told until arrival."

The hot tub was not able to be used on the first night due to having to be heated. This should have been done before arrival or pre earned as this was the main facility that made us want to book. The rest of the stay was nice but just disappointed in all honesty with facilities

Thank you for taking the time to write your review, to let us know your thoughts and experiences. Customer feedback is very important as it helps us to continually improve and grow. With each change over the hot tub needs to be emptied, cleaned and refilled ready for our next guests. As we have guests departing in the morning and new arrivals later on in the afternoon we need to give the hot tub chance to warm up and come to temperature. Unfortunately, this does take time and the water may not be completely ready for some guests arrival, depending on the changeover schedule. As you arrived earlier than the check in time, the hot tub would not have been ready for your stay. If you would like to discuss your feedback in further detail, please do not hesitate to contact Sykes cottages. Once again, we thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback. Property Owner

  • "It failed to meet my expectations because you can’t use the bbq that’s there for show and the pool table bad it’s unbalanced."

if you want hot water for the shower you need to make sure you have it one at a certain times (normally morning) the hot tube doesn’t work which I was very disappointed about it didn’t turn warm. last but not list the cleaning was ok but we found a Dillon hidden in the sofa, btw not every toilet has hand wash just 2 toilets.

Thankyou for your feedback. Due to the exceptionally unacceptable condition that our property was left in after your departure, the damages sustained to our belongings during your stay, the evidence and claims made by our neighbours regarding your parties behaviour and the many rules broken, we would recommend that you find a more suitable property, than a community neighbourhood house, for your future gatherings. As communicated to you during your stay, hot water is set to come on for 5 hours from 06:30 am and similar from 5pm, with the heating set to automatically come on whenever the temperature in the house drops below 19.5 degree C- we did also increase the hot water for longer periods at your request. However instructions are provided on how to operate the NEST system to boost heating & water whenever needed. Each toilet in the property has hand soap available in the toilet cupboard along with two more in the kitchen and this was checked after your departure and found to be in place. The house is professionally cleaned by a very well respected team of 4 staff over a 4 hour period on each changeover. I have informed them of your feedback on the situation. Regarding the barbecue, regrettably gas is not supplied although we are always happy to advise how to purchase it if required. This is advertised on the property description and in the house manual. The hottub was fully working and set up prior to your arrival by a Sykes recommended 3rd party engineer. It was reported by our neighbours that you left the hottub lid off in minus temperatures for several days. If a guest ever has any concerns, we of course do our utmost to resolve/advise, if we are made aware at the time. Regards, Holly Property Owner
