  • "A lovely cosy cottage ~ we stayed for a few days and the cottage was warm and comfortable."

Beds and bed linen were clean and good quality, restful sleep enjoyed every night. Dog friendly garden, log burner was a treat and a great pub with good food a short walk away. Good Wi-Fi links. Only one minor issue, we needed a PIN number for some Sky programmes but this was not available to us despite emailing owners and Sykes Cottages. Not a big problem for us as we were out walking a lot but might be worth adding to handbook.

  • "This a lovely cottage!"

A real home from home. The cottage is beautifully decorated and has everything that you can think of. It was immaculately clean, the beds were super comfy and the whole cottage was lovely and warm (which is just what you want in November). The garden is a very good size and has wonderful views. There is some road noise but the road isn't particularly busy - the windows are double glazed and it really didn't cause any issues for us during our stay (it's a matter of personal preference). I would definitely stay here again, its a great based to explore from and its super comfortable for those rainy days / lazy days.

  • "It is a wonderful property, but there were a few issues that would make it perfect."

The Roman blind in the sitting room area is impossible to open fully. This would have helped on gloomier days, as it was we always had to put the lights on. We never worked out how to get kitchen extractor fan to work...no instructions...it never came on. We also missed having some egg cups for breakfasts. Apart from that, we would definitely stay again.

  • "Everything lovely about the house."

Small but well thought out and well equipped. Maybe a few more cushions for the garden furniture would be nice. Great location with pub and tea room a stone's throw away, both excellent. Monyash very popular with bikers on sunny weekends, making road a little noisy outside house, especially with windows open. Fantastic walking area for strolling or hiking.

  • "Well equipped cottage, especially the kitchen."

Big issue was that the cottage was not ready on arrival and we never received a response to the text message sent as advised on the contact form we received for the rental. Our heartfelt thanks to Jo the gardener who we met by chance on the following day. She forwarded our photos to the owner herself and by evening the cottage was ready. The second half of our party made alternative arrangements as they could not face a stay. Other minor niggles were several light bulbs not working, no window key to one bedroom and cooker hood incl lighting not working.

  • "We enjoyed our short stay at Jasmine cottage."

It was clean and well equipped. The bedrooms were delightful. The village was lovely and we enjoyed a meal at the Bulls Head. We ventured out to Bakewell and the stunning Chatsworth House, which was just fabulous. However the best experience was Tagg Lane Dairy which had to be the best ice cream I had ever tasted. Delicious

  • "The cottage was in a small Derbyshire village we know quite well , with lovely walks close by & a local pub that serves excellent food & ales."

Our only negative was the garden , it was somewhat neglected and badly in need of some TLC. It was fully enclosed & safe , I actually asked the owner that , but unfortunately our Cocker didn't get to enjoy it all , he was restricted to the patio area on his lead. Overall we had a nice stay , but would we use Jasmine cottage again.

The village pub and tea room were a few minutes walk along the road. Only a 10 minute drive to Bakewell, actually glad we didn’t stay in Bakewell now as it was so busy there, we prefer a more peaceful setting.

  • "Lovely cottage."

Well equipped with everything we needed in the kitchen. Well furnished. Comfortable beds. Very clean Good location. Unfortunately though, there was a problem with the hot water system. We arrived on the Friday evening and there was no hot water. We let the owner know. Couldn’t bath our toddler which was not good. Still no hot water Saturday morning so unable to shower/bath. Booked this cottage for the luxury of a bath, so it was disappointing. Contacted owner again and she arranged for plumber to call and rectify the situation. One of our party waited in for him. He had to go to Buxton for parts. Repair was unsuccessful; It still didn’t get the water hot. The pipework banged terribly throughout Saturday night, into early hours ( boiler in cupboard in our loft bedroom, so it was noisy), so my husband bled the system the next morning and we finally got hot water! And our long awaited bath. Not the luxury Mothers’ Day weekend we had planned, having to be on the phone constantly to the owner, Sarah, who to be fair was lovely and very apologetic, plus a great inconvenience. Also, had to bring our own travel cot and high chair, as not provided, therefore not family friendly. Had to make do without the latter, as no room in our car for both. Have had two fabulous cottage breaks since (With another company and Air B&B), and these, plus a stair gate were provided).

Great pub down the road and access to so many walks and activities. We went with our two young kids and the property was child friendly with some lovely toys which we weren’t expecting (and they loved). The owner was easy to contact and very helpful. The property was well thought out with everything we needed. We had a lovely few days and are hoping to book again in the summer.
