  • "Our second stay at this property and once again it did not disappoint."

We had 3 dogs with us and they were well catered for. The garden is secure and paved so no muddy feet to clean. Dog bowls, toys and treats were available. The humans had a great stay too, the kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need. Comfy beds, sofas and a wonderful homely feel. Fantastic dog walk a stones throw from the cottage and a dog friendly pub across the road. Cannot recommend this property highly enough!

Claire, thank you so much for the above feedback. We look forward to seeing you all again soon. Best wishes Liz & family. Property Owner

Friendly locals and some nice pubs within a short distance. Parking is easy and we found it handy having an Asda Express next door! Hope to return and explore more of this area. Thank you Liz!

Hi cottage was clean and spacious , beds were comfortable , plenty of room , good fenced garden but VERY NOISY , even in evenings , DIDNT realise cottage was right next door to co op garage and car park, we could hear traffic in car park in bed and sometimes till gone midnight , sofa on left as you walk in was rock hard even with a topper i bought to make it more comfortable, i slipped and fell down on step into dinning room area with my socks on , luckily i was ok , i have had a few back ops and have a dodgy hip but i was ok, the step is very slippy with socks on , lovey walks from door , and beautiful scenery very nearby , i would definitely go to area again but make sure next cottage is no where near a main /busy road and busy garage/car park , i had read a few reviews and understood co op /garage was across from cottage not actually next door to cottage , kitchen very well equipped , i dont like pulling cottage down but im being honest and think it should be said where position of cottage is , we wouldn’t have booked it but others would , it is a lovely spacious cottage just shame about position /sofa/step thats why we left 3 nights early but area and walks Lovely

Absolutely loved all the Steven Brown touches around ( big fan) myself,my best friend & my dad,not forgetting the dogs all loved it & found it hard to leave- l could hibernate in that cottage for a month & would be happy. We'll done to the owner for providing this gorgeous gem.

The cottage has everything you need for both humans and dogs. Extremely comfortable beds, well equipped and a stone's throw from some lovely dog walks. The only fault we could find was that the wooden floors were extremely slippy. We visit the area every year and will definitely be booking here again (but will take our slippers). Thank you so much to Liz and family for a fantastic home away from home!

We took far too much stuff with us that wasn't needed as the owner had thought of everything. The cottage was very well equipped and cosy even through the terrible cold spell in March. The woodland walks from the cottage were beautiful. Our friends and family who visited were able to find it first time and thought it was great too!

  • "The cottage was absolutely delightful, beautifully clean and well equipped."

The welcome pack of cup cakes and Prosecco was a really nice touch.Great walks directly from the cottage, which suited our two labradors. The dogs loved their box of toys and treats provided.Used the cottage as a base for visiting family and friends in Barnsley, which worked really well. The bedrooms could possibly benefit from blackout curtains as there was a lot of light from adjacent garage. Will definitely be back to the cottage when visiting Barnsley .Would highly recommend.

  • "This place is amazing, super comfy and cozy, there's an amazing astetic to it."

Furniture and beds are very comfortable. Good room to put clothes and luggage. Facilities there is pretty much everything you need cooking wise extra light bulbs etc, more that anywhere else I've been. Parking can be a bit tricky as most people park by the side off the house on the road. For me the best time to visit would be autumn/winter time, as although the cottage is next too the petrol station inside the house you can't really here the traffic but if you do sit outside you can here everything, but as stated indoors you can't hear anything. The people in the area as well as the pubs are really friendly, something you don't get in the cities. Perfect holiday!

Hello Michael, thank you so much for your feedback, I did hear that Willow settled in to village life and even watched the football in the local village pub ... It's a funny one ref the best time to visit as in the summer, you can really enjoy the patio and open the patio doors leading out onto the enclosed area , whilst enjoying the sights and sounds of the stream and people walking past. I'm really pleased you all enjoyed the area and the cozy, comfy cottage. We hope to see you back soon. Liz & family. Property Owner

Beautifully decorated to a high specification and a great deal of thought gone into our stay for the week. The big problem with it was that it was on a very busy main road and was very noisy when sitting outside and at night having the Coop next door, and with windows open, made it hard to sleep. Plenty of great walks for the dogs and in sight if 2 lovely pubs. Such a shame it's so close to the A628.

  • "Being next to a petrol station and on a busy A-road let this otherwise beautifully appointed cottage down."

However the cottage itself is a credit to the owners and the cleaner - everything we and the dogs could have wanted was provided. The wide pavement between the cottage and the road enabled us to park the car in front of the cottage. The woods and playing fields behind were great for walking the dogs but required tight leads for two lively spaniels to get there due to the road or across the petrol station forecourt to the playing fields. The Bells pub serves food Wed - Sun. Our stay was Mon - Thurs. On close inspection of the location map supplied, the pin is over the row of cottages behind The Cottage giving the impression it is further away from the road and petrol station and no hint in the photos or description. The co-op shop in the petrol station was convenient and the only shop in walking distance. Just a fews steps away across the petrol station forecourt. The owners have made this historic cottage perfect once inside. Quiet when doors and windows shut. A good location for exploring the local area but not the quiet, country cottage that may be expected.

Hello Rosie, Thank you for the above. The A road can be busy mainly first thing in the morning and last thing at night, but the rest of the day its pretty normal. The walk to the woods, we too keep our 2 cocker spaniels on leads, however once in there the routes from the woods are exciting and don't require a lead which our dogs are grateful for... Really pleased you love what we have done with cottage, renovating it was hard work. Did you walk down to the Pot House Hamlet for breakfast or lunch? The Bells, has just changed it's opening hours, so I will update the website. Thank you for your review , if you do prefer a rural location please do take a look at our other cottage via Sykes - The Old Post Office Bull Bay. Many thanks Liz Property Owner
