  • "It was great staycation."

I wish we could have spent more time there. The property is very well maintained and have most essential stuff for a big family. I would recommend this property if someone want to spend a good time in peak district.

  • "The cottage was perfect for our family getaway."

Andy one of the owners was extremely helpful. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. We had fresh bed linen and towels. We had a young baby with us and the cot was perfect. There was much more cutlery than we expected which was perfect. The garden is much bigger and spacious than the images! The book was informative enough regarding our stay. Some of the guests travelled from London so the facilities were very welcoming. Can’t thank the owners enough for allowing us to have such a pleasant stay! Wish we could have personally thanked them. One of our guest forgot their AirPods and the owners were so kind to post it back to us! We will definitely come back to this place once we plan another getaway to the Peak District.

We were all very comfortable in the house. Everything we required was provided.

  • "We had a lovely stay."

House was very well equipped and correspondence between the owner and ourselves excellent. A couple of light bulbs had blown and the en-suite shower seemed to have a leak, probably just the sealant needs looking at. House was in a great location for accessing the Derbyshire sights.

  • "My second visit of the year."

An all adult stay (7) ensured we had a comfortable stay, plenty of room and space throughout. We moved the lounge furniture a little to suit the group. Everyone together, good view of tv etc. Well equipped kitchen (a few more dishes/bowls would be nice), 2 fridges ensures plenty of cool space for both food and drinks. ( additional fridge in the garage if needed) Little problem with the oven which we reported as we were preparing to leave. Before we left, a new oven had been ordered. Bedrooms very comfortable and spacious. 2 showers (1 en-suite) both really good showers. Another shower over the 2nd bath would be useful. House very warm, temperature easy to change and plenty of hot water. Close to many great places to visit, ideal spot. We woke to snow and a very helpful man clearing the path. THANK YOU! Snow and ice again on the day we left. Again, a very big thank you for all your help with the car and ensuring we were safe when leaving. Already booked again for next year!

  • "Great weekend stay."

Little bit tight room wise for an all adult stay but this didn’t spoil our stay at all. Beds were comfy and the property was clean. Well equipped kitchen. Additional fridge which was very useful. Great info from owners regarding location etc. Ideal spot for exploring the local area with lots of great places to visit close by

  • "We had a fabulous family holiday with three generations."

There is so much to do in the area we will be back to do some more. Abseiling, kayaking, cycling, walking, etc. Lovely location, views behind house lovely, nice size and contained garden. Traffic noise could be a problem but this is pointed out in the information before you book, not a problem for us. Would recommend.

  • "Our property was great for a large family group to stay in."

The bedrooms worked well and seating in the lounge and dining room was sufficient too. We did however find rubbish under a sofa, the kitchen whilst it had plenty of crockery and cutlery was difficult to cook for 11 of us. Ideally a double oven and hob would have been better and 2 frying pans rather than the 1 that was there. The TV is poorly situated making it difficult for everyone to see so we did have to move furniture. The family on the top floor found it very hot at night so maybe a fan would help. They also found the bed very noisy and uncomfortable. There was a broken toilet seat which the owner did contact us about and due to shop closures at the weekend he did come on the Monday to fix this however other toilet seats were loose too. The garden is enclosed and great for the children to get outside. There were plenty of fridges and 1 freezer. Having a washing machine and tumble dryer was useful however the tumble dryer did take an extremely long time to dry. Overall the property is a little tired but with a bit of attention it is ideal for large family groups.

  • "Lovely, comfortable property and spotlessly clean and really well equipped."

We had a great time! Maybe worth a mention that the property is situated adjacent to a fairly busy road into Matlock.

I have messaged him personally to let him know that his cottage is absolutely beautiful and each one of us have loved and enjoyed our stay at his cottage. The cottage is in the Heart of all sight seeing spots. We have all had a wonderful time. Thank you.

  • "We expected to ring owners, but eventually found that a text worked."

It would be useful to know in advance, as response only received 36 hours before we left home. The only issue we had with the house was the dining chairs need pads, as they screeched whenever you moved them. The place was lovely and warm, perhaps too much for those sleeping on the upper floor! Our daughter and son-in-law had the sky lights open to let the heat out on the first night, and we turned the thermostats down subsequently. It worked well for us. No obvious Covid 19 precautions in place, again it would be useful to know as we carried extra in our luggage which we did not need.

  • "The house is tired probably of having so many people in it and only getting a quick clean periodically."

A good clean is required, and some paintwork needs refreshing. Some light bulbs need replacing and the toaster has 50% not working. But the house is a quality build and good fixtures and fittings (but some furniture at end of life) and the underfloor heating downstairs keeps the whole place warm. Although plenty of space upstairs for 12 to sleep, the downstairs is too small for this many people. As COVID stopped most of our party attending, the wife and I had acres of space !

The house was fantastic with brilliant facilities and really exceeded our expectations. The house is in an ideal location to visit the many attractions and we were so lucky with the September weather, a gloriously sunny week. Also ideal for children, there are 2 lovely parks literally minutes away,a couple of hidden gems! Highly recommended and we so hope we can come and stay again very soon!!

  • "This was for a family celebration of my younger son's 30th birthday."

The house had a perfect combination of rooms and beds for adults and children and having 4 vehicles to park, it was one of the few places in the area that offered parking to reflect the number of guests. Lots of space in the sitting room, a very well equipped kitchen and plenty of extra games, books etc. The bedrooms were lovely and the kids loved the garden. The dining chairs could do with a bit of a freshen up but it certainly wasn't an issue. The one thing I think would be a good idea is a light for the outside steps, we used our phone torches to see down the steps. I commend Andy and his wife on being very accommodating with arrival and leaving times. We have a family who operate at different speeds and who don't seem to work in the same time frame as me!!! We were able to leave a bit later which was a massive help. We had a great time, loved having the bus stop just outside the house for our trip into Matlock and would definitely visit again. The listing on sykes was very accurate, the communication from the owner was good and the informtation provided to find the place was very helpful. The cottage itself is absolutely beautiful very very spacious and modern, lots provided which u dont often find in other cottages. Very clean, neat & tidy comfortable beds and sofas. • "Cottage was great, nice large spaces and enough room for everyone."

It's well located and plenty of parking. Beds and sofas very comfortable and nice outdoor area. Only thing I would suggest is that the non stick pans are replaced - they have seen better days (coating scratched and peeling off), and the knives need a sharpen. Would be good to have some cupboard essentials (salt, pepper, oil, cling film, foil etc) and more than one dustbin liner. This was the perfect location for meeting friends in various geographical locations and we were all very happy with it. We will be booking again next year. Many thanks

Didn’t feel like a rental property. Owners were great when we had an issue with our broken down car. Ample parking for 3 families and overflow fridge space in the garage. Lots of hot water despite there been 10 of us.

  • "A large and comfy house which is tremendously well equipped for large groups."

Plenty of parking. Kitchen is really well stocked with crockery, glassware, and cooking equipment which is great if you want to order in or cook for yourself, and you can fit 12 around the table too.Beds were comfy although the singles are only really suitable for smaller people. Plenty of bathrooms and showers for people so no issues with that, either. As lovely as the house is, it is a little bit close to the main road which is quite loud at rush hour. This isn't much of an issue when the windows are all closed as this makes it negligible, but I wouldn't want to stay here when it was really hot as this house is very well insulated - a real plus in the winter, but in the summer must make this house hot and having windows open a necessity and thus the noise from the road more distracting. Also, there is only enough seating in the lounge for 8-10 people at a time, and the cushions on one of the sofa slips off a lot which is a little annoying.
