  • "Lovely, cosy and welcoming cottage with everything needed for an enjoyable stay."

The location was perfect for exploring the area. Having 3 en-suite double rooms was a treat. Thank you for the firewood and kindling too - it was great to light the stove on our return.

  • "We had a lovely stay at beech house for 4 nights, we are a family of 7 (2 adults and 5 children aged from 6weeks up to 18)."

The cottage had everything we needed and was only a 15 minute drive away from Alton Towers. We are Gold Merlin Pass holders so we visit Alton Towers as often as we can and would definitely stay here again. Amazing views from all rooms. Rooms were all clean and lovely. We opted for the super king bed instead of the twin zip beds but one mattress was really soft and the other more firm which wasn't ideal but manageable for only a few nights. As a family of 7 a tumble drier or extra clothes airers would have made our stay even better but we did just about manage with the over the bath airer.

  • "A comfortable and very clean cottage in a really good location for exploring the the Park District."

Onecote is a quiet village and there are pretty views from the cottage, with cows in the next field who look in hopefully through the kitchen windows. It was great to have WiFi since there was no mobile signal, but this could be obtained close by. The Black Lion pub in the next village of Butterton (sounds like a place in “Postman Pat”) was excellent, so good we went twice. National Trust properties, pre-historic sites and numerous walks all within easy driving distance. Don’t miss the cheese shop in Hartington. We had a most enjoyable holiday.

It had everything that we needed and more. The kitchen was well stocked, the rooms clean and tidy, the beds comfortable and the owners communicated well. The teenagers in our party agreed because the Wi-Fi was great too. We would definitely recommend this property and hope to stay there again in the future.

  • "Having to book Friday to Friday is not ideal."

Traffic is much heavier on Fridays & therefore driving potentially more dangerous, especially when having to travel long distances. Saturday to Saturday bookings would be much better for most, we would have thought. Also, we’re retired but working people would have to take an extra days holiday when booking Friday to Friday.

Plenty to do and see for our mixed age group. Our 2 year old grandson loved the visitors in the attached field and we were very spoilt by the weather and the views. Trips to the Manifold Way and a paddle in the river at Wetton Mill with a trek up to Thor's cave. Tissington is just one of the beautiful villages in the area, Peak Wildlife Park with POLAR bears.is a must.and Alton Towers is close by. Mehek restaurant and take-away was a great find and the owner so welcoming.

So spacious and finished to a high standard. The owners have clearly gone out of their way to think of everything that a number of families or groups of individuals might need, as there were books, games etc in abundance and different areas to go to if needed. The beds in particular were incredibly comfortable too, and lovely bed linen, which was hugely appreciated. We’ve stayed in many, many places and this is in the top three easily. Excellent.

Great location for exploring the white Peaks, Leak, a lovely little town that has everything you need, Alton towers just a few minutes drive away. I only really had two issues. The positioning of the rotary washing line; it was a bit awkward to use because it was surrounded by shrubbery. Second, The leather sofas, I knew they were leather when I booked and it is just a personal preference of mine to have fabric sofas. Not easy to keep clean though in a rental house, so totally understand.

In contrast to some houses that provide you with nothing more than beds, this house had EVERYTHING we could want, from the already-laid fire in the living room, to the bottle of plonk and milk and tea. There was even packs of barbeque briquets and wood. The rooms were clean, fresh and the beds just perfect. The whole week was hugely enjoyable by everyone in our group, which considering we had 3 stroppy teenagers is saying something.

Spacious, clean and with everything you need to be home away from home. In regards to the local area, I imagine it would be lovely for sunner walks, however as we were staying in the middle.of a snowstorm, we didn't leave the house except to pop to a local pub for Sunday lunch (Not within walking distance). There were 8 of us in total and none of us can fault the accommodation and overall experience at all. Everything was outstanding. The owners were extremely helpful and only at the end of the phone. They went the extra mile and supplied us with a bottle of fizz upon arrival. The Property itself was beautiful and very suitable for our party (8 Adults). The property was exceptionally clean and had a very warm and cosy feel to it. The log burners were also a great touch. The beds were amazing comfy and the the showers were out of this world. Excellent use of kitchen equipment and the perfect amount of space. The Garden was beautiful along with the decking. Even though the majority of the time it was raining, it didn't make a difference to the stunning views. I can imagine this also being quite something on a summers day with the use of the barbecue and sitting area on the decking. Overall an amazing experience and weekend to which all of our party were overwhelmed with. We certainly will be looking at booking again over the summer but hopefully next time for a longer duration.
