Lovely location near Bakewell and really clean and tidy with everything we needed. Only thing o would say is there was no DVD player, not a big issue but did bring DVD’s to watch. We had a fabulous family break and would highly recommend these cottages

“I had an amazing holiday and enjoyed staying on the farm.”

I am definitely going to return as my 3 year old son loved staying at Brendan. I'd like to make it a regular holiday for us. There were some issues which I've listed below but I didn't care about as I was having so much fun with my son and spent most of the day out in the Peaks. 1) very wobbly toilet seat. 2) I tried to use the oven but it wasn't fan assisted so took far too long to cook anything. 3) the wiring seemed odd, if I turned the kettle on the kitchen lights dimmed. This should not be possible if the electrical wiring is correct. The circuits should be entirely separate which they were not. 4) the floor boards were incredibly creaky and I had to step around carefully after my son was asleep. I also wondered how loud it was for the people staying below. 5) the kitchen knives were very blunt. 6) the toilet took a long time to refill and was very noisy. 7) I struggled with WiFi connection to the point it was useless as the signal was too weak. Like I said above, I didn't care about any of these shortcomings much at all and will be returning as the location was amazing and the morning views above Bakewell fantastic.

“We had a good time staying at brendan cottage, the only down fall we experiance was that we could hear peopole talking from the appartment below and also the beds were harder than what we expected as i do suffer from back problem, this was a great worry for me as i did not sleep very well,i understand from other guest that they experiance the same problem with their beds.”

The location and the cleanlines of the property was fine.

“The Peak District is a beautiful place.”

Considering Brendan is on a 'Working' farm, you are not disturbed by it. ie noise of animals, smells, etc. Its a good location & not far from Bakewell, a lovely town. Infact Buxton, Monyash, & others are within a 3-5 mile radius. Well worth a drive out among the trees across the roads, its heavenly. Darwin Forest is worth a visit, as is Chatsworth house, but Chatsworth house is expensive if you plan to visit All of its beauty.

“The position of the holiday let near Bakewell was excellent and in some ways I would be happy to go back.”

What caused my less than enthusiastic response? The flat was cold. The lounge was difficult to warm up ( the radiator needs to be bigger) and not the most comfortable for eating in. We did not use the TV very much but it worked and I think there was a CD player but it looked to us that the remote for it was broken. The lighting was not good for late autumn trying to read maps. Some of the equipment in the kitchen needs some attention. When I opened the oven door the whole unit moved. There were no instructions for the microwave. The crockery was mismatched. Better, I think to have four of everything the same.There were few serving dishes. The beds were fine - warm and comfortable to sleep in. The bathroom shower was not great. The basin could have been cleaner. I know it's an old converted property but mildew was evident. The trickle vents on some windows were broken. There were nice touches with fresh flowers, milk, tea and coffee. I think it would be a good summer let but it struggles a bit at this time of year.

“It was perfect, we arrived on the Friday and found the cottage clean, warm and very welcoming.”

It was a lovely place to base our stay and make the most of visiting place in the peak district and nipping over the border to South Yorkshire and Sheffield. The facilites in the cottage were very good and even the lint of milk in the fridge in the kitchen made a lovely cup of tea after a long journey! We will deffinetly be staying here or one of the other cottages here again in the near future.

“This property was incorrectly advertised.”

It is an apartment with a flight of very steep stairs up to it. It is surrounded by four other cottages. It has a very tiny kitchen with a limited supply of crockery. It is ideal for a couple with two small children but not for four adults . The bathroom is in need of refurbishment, the toilets did not work properly.

It was in a beautiful setting the views were amazing. We were made very welcome by the farmer and his family and were able to watch the cows being milked. Altogether a very good holiday.

The accommodation is perfect and has everything you could need for a great holiday. Also it was perfect for the dogs...great walks from the cottage. Cottage could do with some hooks to hang your coats...apart from that a great holiday place.

“We loved the cottage - it was clean other than dog hair everywhere, we even ended up bringing it home with us, which wasn't particularly nice considering we don't have a dog ourselves.”

There was also dog poo in the garden. I have scored down on comfort just because we found the sofa quite uncomfortable (although looked really nice. The beds were really comfortable). Only scored down on facilities as i had to wait for the washing machine on the 2 occasions i had to use it! Overall we really enjoyed our stay and the cottage.

Bakewell 1.5 miles. A group of 6 traditional, barn converted cottages on the working Burton Manor Farm near Bakewell in the Peak District. These cottages were once part of the working farm and still keep the original stone walls and exposed wooden beams inside to provide cosy living, perfect for families and friends to come together and enjoy a break. About the location

BAKEWELL

Chatsworth 4 miles; Matlock 8 miles; Buxton 12 miles.

An attractive little market town retaining a delightful rural atmosphere and offering a good selection of shops, restaurants and pubs, as well as local farmers’ markets. There is an old 17th Century market hall in the town centre and a modern leisure centre with swimming pool nearby. Bakewell is situated within the Peak District National Park and is ideally placed for exploring this beautiful region. Both the rugged Dark Peak and the softer limestone White Peak are within easy reach, and Alton Towers, Britain’s premier theme park, is only a short drive away. There are many stately homes to visit including Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and Hardwick Hall to mention just a few, while the impressive caverns in nearby Castleton and Little John’s burial place in Hathersage are also well worth a visit. Take a trip to Buxton and visit the impressive Edwardian Opera House, designed by Frank Matcham, who also designed the London Palladium.
