Great to be on a working farm.

Great to be on a working farm. The property was perfectly adequate for 4 adults, however I wouldn’t want to have any more due to only 1 small bathroom and 1 small en-suite. Also quite disappointing to have to purchase loo-roll! Kitchen facilities and equipment were very good and the lounge area was pleasant. A thoroughly enjoyable visit!

“Due to a storm there was no Wi fi as advertised.”

It was supposed to be repaired by Monday but it didn’t work until Thursday and signals were poor. This did not bother us particularly but I don’t think it would suite everyone. The en-suite bathroom is a cupboard and the shower leaks. There is not really enough WC for 8 adults to use. The location was good. Very quiet and out of the busy town which suited us. Great walking location.

“We booked this cottage as we were celebrating our daughter's 30th birthday with a day at Chatsworth House and as a surprise had booked tickets for the Pride and Prejudice Ball in the evening.”

This cottage was the icing on the cake. It is lovely and comfortable. There was 7 of us staying there and there was plenty of room with wonderful views from the bedroom windows. The beds were so comfortable (I could have stayed in bed all day!!!) and everything you need for a short break (even for the dog!) We will definitely be coming back. Thank you!

“We had a lovely weekend away in the Peak District at this cottage.”

There was plenty of parking available. The living room was big enough and had enough chairs to fit all 8 of us around the TV, the same with the table in the kitchen. The cottage itself was lovely and clean. It is close to Bakewell and other popular places to go walking. I would recommend this cottage and we may possibly come back again in the future!

“The cottage was lovely and well appointed but over stretched with 8 adults- one bathroom and the smallest cupboard of an en-suite.”

We were bewildered by the very large cupboard downstairs that could’ve been a very welcome second bathroom. Flies are clearly a major issue with the cottage having an industrial electric fly zapper in the dining area. The smell of cow slurry make the outdoor areas unusable- it is a working farm with the cottages set in the heart of the milking area.

“Had a wonderful family holiday in this cottage.”

Loved the open plan dining room/kitchen area. The highlight was going out every morning to the nearby field and finding out that another calf had been born. One morning we were lucky enough to witness two births! Would definitely recommend this property.

The ensuite shower room was absurdly tiny and there was no downstairs toilet. Otherwise a great holiday cottage for eight people.

“I most enjoyed the relaxed setting of the farm and the accommodation was excellent.”

Anyone reading this review must understand that I am disabled and as such need a certain type of bed and this is the only reason I scoed a 3 out of 4 to comfort. My family are are all able bodied and found t comfartable. The lady owner is delightful and very easy to talk to. Thanks

“What a lovely place.”

..this is a working farm and the farmer was really great with the kids, letting them go and see the cows and explaining about the farm. There were alpacas there too! The place is really quiet and peaceful and the farm is immaculate. Lots of nice personal touches. Very close to Bakewell too. Loved it

Accommodation with 4 bedrooms really needed a separate loo rather than just 1 en suite and a shared bathroom with loo.

Very well equipped. Great location. Only 1.5 miles from Bakewell but very peaceful. Taxis easily available and cheap. 6 pound each way. Will return.

BAKEWELL

Chatsworth 4 miles; Matlock 8 miles; Buxton 12 miles.

An attractive little market town retaining a delightful rural atmosphere and offering a good selection of shops, restaurants and pubs, as well as local farmers’ markets. There is an old 17th Century market hall in the town centre and a modern leisure centre with swimming pool nearby. Bakewell is situated within the Peak District National Park and is ideally placed for exploring this beautiful region. Both the rugged Dark Peak and the softer limestone White Peak are within easy reach, and Alton Towers, Britain’s premier theme park, is only a short drive away. There are many stately homes to visit including Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and Hardwick Hall to mention just a few, while the impressive caverns in nearby Castleton and Little John’s burial place in Hathersage are also well worth a visit. Take a trip to Buxton and visit the impressive Edwardian Opera House, designed by Frank Matcham, who also designed the London Palladium.
