“We enjoyed our stay in the cottage immensely.”

The owners have clearly gone the extra mile and provided first-rate accommodation. The furnishings were of a high standard, the cottage was well equipped and very clean. Nice touches like the complimentary shampoo, conditioner and soap as well as the tea, coffee and biscuits were really appreciated. We felt at home from day one. I would recommend the Miners Standard Pub for excellent food and drink. The lack of parking outside the cottage did not detract from our enjoyment. The walk up the hill ...

The walk up the hill to where we parked the car was rewarded with fantastic views of the countryside. Highly recommended,

Enjoying countryside and village views, this Winster cottage is perfect for couples or families, with two lovely bedrooms featuring exposed apex ceiling and attractive exposed beams.

Enter into the warmth of the Old Cottage after an action-packed day exploring the Peaks and be welcomed into the sitting room.

Here, you will be delighted to find an attractive stone fireplace containing a woodburning stove taking centre stage, before the plush seating arrangement and TV.

The ground floor is completed by a sleek shower room, boasting a walk-in shower, basin and WC.

The character of the dwelling is continued upstairs, where the exposed beams frame the double bedroom and the twin bedroom boasts plush linens and good wardrobe storage.

The conservation village of Winster has a well-stocked community-owned village shop and Post Office and two excellent pubs providing home-cooked food and traditional ales, while a lovely children's playground and the 17th century National Trust owned Market House are just a short walk away.

About the location

WINSTER

Bakewell 6 miles; Matlock 4.5 miles.

The conservation village of Winster is situated within the White Peak area of the Peak District National Park and is an extremely pretty place, with a charming 17th century market house at its centre, and other imposing 17th and 18th century houses, many three storeys high. The three main streets - Main Street, East Bank and West Bank are interconnected by alleyways known as ‘ginnels’, which are well worth exploring. The village of Winster is famous for its Morris dancers, the annual Shrove Tuesday pancake race, Wakes festivities in June, and the Secret Gardens of Winster event in July. Within the village there is a well-stocked, community-owned general store incorporating a Post Office. There are two pubs, both serving food and traditional beer. Bakewell, Matlock, Chatsworth House, and the Peak Rail Steam Railway are all nearby and, for keen walkers and cyclists, The Limestone Way runs along the edge of the village. The Tissington and High Peaks walking and cycling trails, with bike hire available, both lie less than 5 miles from the village, a wonderful base for exploring the Peak District.
