Some of the points other holiday makers made were valid but we would definitely go again as the other guests stated. We were pleased that we ignored the negative points when looking for somewhere to go. All in all we had a fabulous restful break. We both loved the bifold doors, when fully opened it provided lovely spot to chill out and enjoy the morning sun with a cuppa. Hot tub was situated in the perfect place and the gas bbq was also a bonus. Both owners and Dogs were friendly and plenty of tea, coffee, sugar , loo roll was provided to last the week. Thank you.

  • "A delightful, comfortable, well-equipped house."

Only lapse was lack of kitchen knives that were sharp enough to use. (An inexpensive 3 knife set from Poundland or Tesco would have done well, and replacing them every 6 months would not represent a big expense to the landlord). Hosts were very welcoming and helpful. Dogs delightful and owners are extremely conscious of keeping dogs away from guests unless guests ask to see them. Owners are very prompt in handling any requests. Double check the location -- there are 2 Pilsleys in Derbyshire. You do hear road noise but that did not bother us at all. Lovely walks on your doorstep. Appreciated the hot tub. Very functional kitchen and living room and lovely outdoor space, the best we have ever had in any UK holiday rental.

Hot tub was a welcoming end to the day and the creaky floorboards added to the character. Location was excellent to explore the Peaks and the local pubs do wonderful food. View from the windows were great to wake up to.

Hot tub nice, plenty of garden space for kids to play. All cooking utensils , bedding, cleaning and towels provided. Slight downside was really creeky floors upstairs but I'm not sure much can be done. Also because you have to walk through owners property to get car out its awkward if dogs in garden as you don't want to let them out. These are minor things though and on whole had a lovely stay.

There was no backlighting on the mirrors and one bathroom had no curtain/blind over window. There were no curtains/blinds to cover the sliding door downstairs causing reflections on the TV which made it difficult to watch. We appreciated the welcome box, Owners made us feel welcome.

Downstairs toilet was a bonus as was the two bathrooms as there were only two of us, one each when we were getting ready to go out. Lots of helpful information left for us of places to see and also recommendations for eating out. We visited Chesterfield on the Thursday as there was a flea market. It was enormous and we really enjoyed walking round the stalls. We really enjoyed our stay.

  • "Netherfield Cottage we found to be extremely well resourced, everything there you could possibly need and very clean, spacious accommodation."

We were surprised that the property was situated on a road with quite a bit of through traffic, it did bother us personally as we live in a quiet cul-de-sac so are not accustomed to traffic noise. I would like to stress that this is not a criticism of this lovely place as such, rather an observation that isn't made clear on the listing and of course, noise tolerance is a personal thing. Other people have mentioned the creaky floorboards in the main bedroom. I have creaks at home, I didn't think it would bother us. In this case, it is extreme, you have to turn up the TV if someone is walking about upstairs! At night, there is no popping to the bathroom without waking your partner. In the end we laughed about it, but it does need looking at. Our only other reservation was feeling embarrassed having to walk through the owner's personal space (back garden past family living area) to get to our car, there is an option to go out on to the road, we did this whenever possible. These points aside, we enjoyed our stay, the owners were really helpful and friendly, the surrounding area is beautiful with loads of lovely walking and scenery right on your doorstep and hot tub is the best we've used. Netherfield Cottage is well worth booking, you will have a lovely holiday, simply be aware of the points above when you make your choice if you are sensitive to any of these issues, we hope our honest review is helpful.

Great location for getting to the places we wanted to visit. The house was great. Only niggles: 1. Awful showers (which is exacerbated because you should shower frequently before and after using the hot tub) and 2. The annoyingly loud creaky floorboards upstairs. But overall we loved the place and thank the owners for having us.

  • "Lovely cottage, with fab open plan layout downstairs and nicely decorated bedrooms, en suite and bathroom upstairs."

A great garden well equipped with hot tub and barbecue. Very quiet village location (not to be confused with the larger Pilsley near the Chatsworth estate), convenient base for cycling, walking and enjoying the beautiful towns of the Peak District. 40-60mins from Bakewell, Buxton, Matlock, Tissington Trail etc, so good base location. Cottage also situated right next to the Five Pits Trail which is suitable for walkers, cyclists and pushchairs and easy circular walks accessible around the surrounding villages. No pubs in close walking distance that serve food, but plenty of lovely pubs a short drive away - a car is necessary here if you want to get out and visit local areas. The owner who lives in the main farmhouse next door is lovely, and more than happy to help with anything and french bulldogs Ronnie and Reggie provided our 18mth old with lots of entertainment. If we had one downside and it is only the one, the floorboards upstairs in the cottage were incredibly creaky, making putting a toddler to bed very tricky - something to consider if travelling with a small one who is easily disturbed. All in all a lovely place to stay, and we would visit again and definitely recommend! Thanks Jane and Mark

  • "The cottage was well equipped, spacious, clean and modern."

We had a wonderful stay at the cottage, and really enjoyed the use of the hot tub. The only downside of the experience is that the cottage was super difficult to find in the dark, as we could not see the door number at all due to a dimly lit street. It would have been helpful if there was a sign indicating the name of the cottage, or a clearer display of the door number. Alternatively, perhaps the owner could have communicated a map or instructions upon contact to indicate how to locate the cottage. We drove in and out of three or four neighbouring driveways and had to turn around in the street a few times before we finally found the right property. However due to the cottage being tucked away behind the owner's house out of public view, I had to ring the owner to find out where exactly the cottage was!!! Very difficult to find. Now we know where the cottage is located, we would rent it again, but otherwise I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Too difficult to find!

  • "Netherfield cottage was a lovely place to stay."

Well appointed, clean, close to hiking trails and some lovely villages. The only negative I have is that the upstairs floor boards are really noisy and loud. If you have to get up in the night the noise inevitably woke the other person or if your downstairs watching telly the noise is terribly disturbing. Some people it may not bother but for us, it it did really spoil a truly lovely property.
