  • "Really lovely cottage with all the necessary kitchen utensils and home comforts."

Wendy stocked the fridge with our preferred wine, some milk and eggs (from her own chickens). The bed is huge, it is firm but we found that surprisingly comfortable. We stayed with our 7 month cockapoo who particularly liked watching the sheep and lambs (on the lead). The property is warm but we thoroughly enjoyed having a fire in the log burning stove. We found Wendy and Pete very approachable and helpful. The farm setting is beautiful. We enjoyed sitting on the swing hammock overlooking then landscape. We had a lovely walk from the cottage to Longnor and back. The location between Leek and Buxton meant we could easily get food and a takeaway in a car. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting a relaxing and comfortable stay in the Peak District.

The views are lovely, Wendy couldn't do more for us as a host, the accommodation was beautiful and the bed was so comfy. It's only a 20 minute drive from various walking spots around the peaks. We will definitely be going back, and if anyone is unsure as to which accommodation to use in the peak district, they should 100% go here!

Wendy made us very welcome and provided wine, eggs, milk, tea coffee and biscuits for us to enjoy. The area is beautiful with some very good walks in the immediate area. Weekends seem to be very busy in Buxton & Bakewell but are quieter during the week, we are told. A very enjoyable stay in every way.

The host was very welcoming and informative. Facilities were excellent and the laundry room a real bonus for washing, drying off wet boots and walking gear. If we were being really picky....and we are because the Collecting Yard was exceptional accommodation.....we found the sofa and arm chair weren't as cosy or comfortable as they could be but that was because everything else was perfect.

Thank you for your great feedback. We are happy that you enjoyed your stay at Collecting Yard. We have now actually replaced the arm chair and sofa with 2 x 2 seating sofas. Thank you. Property Owner

Scrumptiously clean with a fabulously comfy bed. The owners were absolutely adorable. We arrived late to a pre -lit fire ,warm, and cosy with a lovely welcome pack of wine, eggs and milk. Walks close by in the Dove valley were idyllic as our old dog cannot manage styles anymore,or if you drive a little way, there are an abundance of other walks in this very pretty part of Derbyshire, notably Curbar edge and Froggatt edge. This is a sheer delight for all ages and we highly recommend this gem of a cottage.

All facilities and amenities have been thought of for a relaxing stay. An extra basket of logs was provided and milk, fresh eggs, some biscuits and wine were a welcome gify. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need and there is a very nice shower room and really comfortable king sized bed. We would definitely like to have a return visit.

So much to do in Derbyshire lots of fantastic dog walks but most were cut short due to January weather but found respite in numerous dog friendly pubs in the area we didn’t even mind coming back early to the cottage to sit by it’s cosy log burner and read. What was lovely too the owner contacted us before our arrival to confirm times and had the fire lit on our arrival in addition a lovely welcome pack was left for us too. We would highly recommend this cottage it’s location is perfect and on a beautiful day I bet the views would be amazing we were there with not so good weather but didn’t spoil the experience due to the comfortable accommodation. The host was very welcoming too & was happy for us to contact her if we needed any help etc but everything was so perfect we didn’t need to disturb them.

Unfortunately we couldn't manage the full week as we'd booked, due to other commitments. I messaged Wendy about this and she was very helpful and accommodating, and was happy to welcome us on a different time and day. The log burner was going on arrival making us feel extra cosy. The cottage was well equipped with everything we needed to enjoy our stay. I was particularly happy with the entrance porch space, perfect for leaving towels and facilitating paw wiping. I saw Wendy every day, she was very friendly and helpful, but never intrusive. The location is wonderful, so quiet. We particularly enjoyed driving through picturesque villages on our way to walks in the Manifold Valley, Dovedale and Ilam. Good National Trust tearoom at Ilam Park.
