  • "Over the years we have stayed in quite a few holiday cottages, but never in one as perfect as The Milking Parlour."

. Accommodation, cleanliness, comfort and position were all faultless for our needs and we would have no hesitation in returning if we came to the Peak District. It is very well situated for visits to the many of the attractions in the area. Thank you Wendy and Pete for making us so welcome.

As it was February the weather wasn't great but it didn't matter as the cottage was so cosy we were happy spending quality time there as a family. Getting to meet the donkeys and newborn lambs was an added bonus. Thank you Wendy and Pete for a wonderful stay.

  • "The Milking Parlour cottage is perfect."

It’s finished to a very high standard and is in a great location. All the bedrooms are very comfortable and have en-suite bathrooms which is great, and there is a fourth cloakroom with toilet downstairs. The kitchen/diner is beautifully fitted with high quality appliances and all the equipment you could possibly need. The wood burner in the living room makes it really cosy. Our visit coincided with storm Arwen, which brought heavy snowfall and wiped out the electricity. Wendy went well above and beyond to keep in touch with updates, and was so helpful in letting us push back our visit which meant we were still able to have our break. And the donkeys are fab. Thank you to Wendy and Pete. Can’t recommend the cottage highly enough, and will definitely return.

  • "This is the cleanest and most comfortable cottage we have stayed in - thank you so much, Wendy!"

This is a very well-equipped cottage with three excellent en-suite bedrooms, a large kitchen and comfortable living room (with the option to light the fire, which we did on some of the evenings). We stayed there with our 21 month old and he loved seeing the donkeys every day - he even learned the word for "donkey" during our stay! Wendy was very kind to let him visit the donkeys in the barn as well. We loved our stay and would definitely like to return! Thank you!

The decor is to a very high standard and all the apppliances are up to date. All the crockery, cutlery and cooking pots and pans are all nearly new. Overall this a very comfortable place to stay, which when combined with such a friendly and available host sets it well above the norm. Highly recommended.

  • "The Milking Parlour comes highly recommended, the accommodation is finished to a high standard and the cleanliness is second to none."

Ideal location for what we needed. There were some lovely pubs nearby that served excellent home cooked food, we ate at The Royal Oak a couple of times and The Reform in Thorncliffe which were both excellent. There are some lovely trails nearby, we recommend the Tissington and Monsal Trails. Easy ride into both Buxton and Bakewell. Having read the reviews before booking we knew what to expect and certainly were not disappointed, if in any doubt please read other reviews as everyone recommends this place! Wendy & Pete are lovely hosts who are always available for an advice or information. The accommodation is a real credit to them. We would definitely look to stay again should we visit the area in the future.

Everything was spotlessly clean and all the bedding and towels were high quality. Couldn't fault it! Even the occupants of the other properties were friendly and pleasant with seemingly well behaved dogs. We stayed on the property more than we usually would as it was so nice, partly also because we hadn't seen our grandchildren for so long after months of Covid and partly because we were so happy!

We received a warm welcome from Wendy & Pete who kindly unloaded our Sainsbury's delivery which had arrived early! Nothing was too much trouble. The cottage was perfect, extremely well presented and comfortable in every respect with everything we needed for our visit. The weather was mixed but this did not stop us enjoying walks both from the cottage & out & about in the car. Our golden retriever, George, was also made very welcome too! A lovely break in a peaceful setting what more could we ask for .. highlight was meeting the donkeys, who love gingernut biscuits!

Our family are spread over the UK so we chose this location to be central to everyone. The cottage was fantastic, exceptionally warm and comfortable with nothing missing. It was lovely to watch the donkey's running around and the eggs from the chickens were delicious. Wendy and Peter are on site and nothing was too much trouble for them, they were keen to check that our first evening was comfortable and that we had everything we needed. The kitchen is fantastic, with all NEFF appliances, and enough items to make everyone comfortable. All in all, it was a wonderful week, we are only sad that we will not be able to return again this year - although there is still time to book !!! Cannot recommend highly enough.
