The property

Situated on the foothills of Matlock, in the beautiful Derbyshire countryside, is this charming mid-terrace stone cottage, Dolly's Sweet Shop.

Once a sweet shop, this property was fully renovated in 2016 into a stylish and contemporary holiday home most suitable for two couples.

The owners have kept some of its original charm such as the exposed stone walls, making this a homely base.

Be welcomed into a cosy sitting room the moment you walk through the door with two leather sofas where you can curl up and unwind in front of the wall-mounted TV and catch up with your favourite shows.

Walk through to the open-plan kitchen/diner wonderfully appointed to the rear of the cottage and has pristine white units and sleek granite worktops housing all the necessary appliances needed for cooking up some delicious meals.

Gather at the dining table which has enough seating for all four guests and can be used as a sociable space for a dinner party; break open the champagne and toast to a wonderful holiday.

Once the evening draws to a close, retire to one of two well-presented double bedrooms, both of which have plush beds, quality linens and matching bedside tables and lamps, ideal for some late night reading.

The property is a stone's throw away from the bustling town centre of Matlock where you can indulge in all your shopping needs and pick up some souvenirs for your loved one's back home.

If you don't fancy cooking one evening there are a selection of pubs and restaurants for some fine dining options.

Those feeling more adventurous will enjoy Gulliver's Kingdom and all of its thrilling rides available.

You can enjoy a cable car ride or tour through the historic caverns at the Heights of Abraham or a short drive away is the Peak District National Park for all of its walking, hiking and cycling trails.

Dolly's Sweet Shop is an excellent choice for a rural break to the heart of Derbyshire.

The popular Peak District town of Matlock, together with its neighbour, Matlock Bath, has been attracting visitors to the area since the spa was developed in the late 17th century. Set in the beautiful wooded gorge of the River Derwent, the Matlocks offer a range of shops, pubs and restaurants, as well as a host of attractions including Gulliver’s Kingdom and the Peak District Mining Museum. Magnificent views down the gorge can be enjoyed from the cable car which takes visitors up to the Heights of Abraham – a great place for all the family with its showcaves, nature trail, water gardens and Owl Maze.
