  • "Well equipped with all you need from a holiday cottage."

The road at the front can be noisy at peak weekend times but for the most part was fine (we were out most of the day enjoying the surrounding area). Cleanliness acceptable but not spotless. Located in a good position to enjoy many local attractions. The Peak Village and its Nature Reserve were much appreciated by our little dog who walked there every morning and we enjoyed brunch at the Chatsworth Kitchen which we highly recommend.

  • "The cottage was well located for exploring Derbyshire and we had no problem with the busy road."

It was well equipped, the towels were plentiful and the bed linen clean, however there were other issues that caused us concern, primarily unsecured electrical cables, loose sockets, the extension lead for the microwave hanging in mid-air and one adaptor in the kitchen which would have been overloaded if the kettle and toaster were used at the same time. The double bed had supporting slats missing. The cottage was generally clean but it did needed dusting and cobwebs removed from the beams and windows and how much more welcoming it would have been if the front garden and back yard had been weeded and the parking area swept. As landlords ourselves we would not let a cottage in this condition. We will not be returning.

  • "Having lived in Sheffield all our lives before we moved away, we were already familiar with the Peak District ."

This lovely little cottage was a pleasure to stay in and provided us with a welcome place to rest tired legs after a day's walking . It is a Country Cottage with it's own original character .A well-equipped kitchen with modern appliances ,/ a comfortable living-room , / the bathroom has a bath for a good soak, (or shower if preferred) /bedrooms are clean ,comfortable and welcoming , parking round the back maybe a little tight but do-able with care ,-people-carriers and 4x4s were not around when these houses were built ! . The neighbours were friendly and pleasant .The road to the front of the cottage is busy, but expected , Rowsley is in the middle of farming country so tractors and farm vehicles use the road during the day , and Chatsworth is just up the road . We had a very enjoyable stay at Lees Moor Cottage and would be happy to stay here again .

  • "Where to start, I don’t usually do reviews but felt I must on this occasion."

The cottage was not very clean, I have photos of the cloths we used to clean the floors and oven. Unfortunately this review portal has no way of uploading the photos. The so called off road parking is not for the faint hearted, I would advise only taking a small car. You can park at the front of the property if you are lucky and the next door neighbours have not taken all the spaces. The Wi-Fi code can be found on the base of the broadband router, it’s not mentioned anywhere in the documentation. There is a key hanging on a hook in the kitchen to unlock an outside cupboard if you want to use the dryer. Again not mentioned anywhere. The road at the front of the property is more busy than the A1. I have never seen so much traffic including motorcycles speeding past the cottage. We could not stand the traffic noise even with the windows shut, so must be a nightmare if it’s hot weather, so we left the property before the leaving day. We rather we wasted money then spend anymore time there.

Thank you for your feedback. We will take up the issue of cleaning with our caretakers. With regard to the parking, the space is limited to the width of the property and cannot be made any larger, however we own a seven seat mpv which we have parked in the space. The cottage is in close proximity to Chatsworth House consequently the road can be busy when the house is open but traffic reduces when closed. We will update the guest information regarding the Wi-Fi code and the location of the key to the outhouse. Property Owner

  • "Lees Moor Cottage provided an excellent base for our holiday in the Peak District."

Located in Rowsley, it was close to Bakewell, Matlock and Matlock Bath and just a little further to Buxton. The pub was just a short walk away as well as the Shopping Village. The cottage was clean, well furnished, and in very good condition. The kitchen was well equipped and it was very handy to have a washing machine. With a TV and Wi-Fi , the kids were happy they could still play games on their phones. Parking was available to the rear, but you had to mind the stone walls and not have a big car! I would thoroughly recommend this cottage and would happily return in the future.

  • "The post was really misleading."

It did not mention the property was situated directly on a busy road. It also failed to mention that you are overlooked by a row of houses behind the property. We had to close the back curtains all the time due to the neighbours looking into the property. The road out the front was extremely busy. Traffic all day. The property itself was nice, although needed updating. The double bed has slats missing so very uncomfortable.

We thank you for your feedback, we will attend to the bed slats, we are situated on Chatsworth Road close to Chatsworth House so the road can be busy during the day but is quieter in the evenings. The window to the rear looks out onto a wall beyond which is the parking area. We have not previously had any comments about our neighbours. We do not accept your non specific comments about the property requiring updating. The kitchen has had a new range cooker, new worktop, new cupboards and a new fridge freezer. The lounge has new occasional tables and a new smart tv. The house was redecorated throughout recently and new carpets fitted on the stairs and in the bedrooms. Property Owner

  • "Please see Bradshaw complaint COR-217612-CF with full details and attached photos as evidence of very unsatisfactory property."

Dirty, tatty, very careworn, neglected inside and out. Garden overgrown and full of weeds and abutted a very busy and noisy main road with no privacy and a noisy neighbour who liked to hang out their washing over the garden fence between us and them. Totally unsatisfactory and expensive experience. Would never recommend, not as described.

Thank you for your feedback, we are sorry you were unhappy with some aspects of the cottage, we will address the matter of cleanliness with our cleaners. We do not accept your comments about the property being tatty and careworn. The fact is that the property was completely re decorated only last year. This is our sixteenth year and this the first complaint we have ever received regarding the neighbours and their washing. Being close to Chatsworth House means the road can be busy during periods that the house is open but generally traffic is lighter afterwards. Many of our guests find the proximity to Chatsworth to be an advantage. Property Owner

  • "We found it difficult finding the house because the house actually looks older than in the photograph."

On arrival I had to phone the owner to ask where it was. If the instructions had said opposite the red phone we would have found it straight away. The house was comfortable and clean. Wasn’t keen on the picnic table being in the front garden, very close to a busy road and in view of people passing by on the pavement, no privacy. The parking at the rear of the house is tight. Venue ideal for walkers and can recommend the Grouse and Claret pub near by.

Thank you for your feedback, we are pleased you enjoyed your time at Lees Moor Cottage. The property is ideally situated very close to the very popular Chatsworth House and Gardens and during their opening times the roads can get busy, but in the evenings it is quiet again allowing you to enjoy the garden in peace. We are sorry to hear you had difficulty in finding the property as no other guest have advised this previously, we will continue to monitor feedback and change the directions should it become a problem. Thanks for your time and we look forward to seeing you again soon. Only front garden to sit out in which is on fairly busy road and quite a bit of pedestrian traffic too. Slight mix up with our arrival time - arrived after check in time but cleaners still there - said we should have been told they had been allowed an extra hour for 'touch point' cleaning. Not a major problem and we brought it to owner's attention so hopefully sorted for the future. Otherwise the house had everything we needed - and plenty of 'supplies'.
