    Our fishing party was of ten and this made it a little challenging for everyone to get a chance to shower etc.

  • "The house was excellent for fishermen who don't require 4/5star accommodation."

    The views were amazing ,the hot tub enjoyed by all the family . But the house was cold on arrival and needed hours to warm up , The microwave was difficult to use and no information booklet was available, in fact there was no welcoming booklet with facts about the local area ,restaurants or how to use the appliances .The upstairs sink had no plug , the downstairs toilet had no place to hang the towel, the curtain rail in the lounge was hanging down as the raw plug had come out of its hole , no grab rail in the shower , no non slip mat in the shower, no blind on the bathroom window or extractor fan in the bathroom, no lock on the bathroom door or downstairs toilet . In the bedrooms there there were drawers with broken handles, a balcony door was broken and moss needed removing from the balconies, the blind needed repairing in the main bedroom where another bedside light was required. In the kitchen the Water flow was too powerful and needed turning down, serving dishes needed, more teaspoons were required, there we're only 2 and serving spoons required, hand-wash and washing up liquid were missing , more toilet rolls , the crockery was mismatched especially the glasses and some chipped plates. The entrance needed tidying to make the entrance more attractive. The house was well painted internally with no scuff makes on the walls or skirting boards .By the second day we had mastered the heating but not the microwave . Overall a disappointing experience for the none fisher persons in our family group.

  • "Initial reaction was a little concern that the house was a bit tired, but we could see from the kitchen and dining area that some refurbishment was happening."

    Once having seen the wonderful view over the lakes and hills, any little shortcomings were forgotten. The 6 of us had a wonderful relaxing week, particularly with the hot tub overlooking the lakes etc. Tom was very helpful whenever we had any questions for him

  • "Host Tom was always on hand and was happy to help to make sure we had a wonderful time."

    House itself and setting was perfect for what we wanted, getting family together for Christmas, but should be better equipped to cope with the number of guests it can accommodate. Needs 2 ovens and bigger hob, 2nd or larger fridge, a 2nd bathroom or shower and ideally more comfy seating the lounge. It would be nice to have a hard path to the hot tub rather than having to walk across gravel. Could list other niggles like no wine glasses but wouldn't want to detract from the fact that overall we had a really wonderful time in a beautiful setting and other visitors might find property has everything they need for their stay.

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed this holiday."

    It was a lovely house but could have been a bit cleaner and the main bed had two matresses on and they slipped about as you tried to sleep. The owner was very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. The grounds and fishing pools were tremendous and in a lovely area with lots for kids and adults to do.

  • "It says 5 bedrooms and only 4."

    Dirty inside windows problem viz Covid. Fridge too small for 10 people. Freezer needed defrosting. Not enough wine glasses only 5. Some non stick cooking equipment needs replacing. Towels not big enough and none for hot tub. Some maintenance needed in kitchen re piece of wood held up by bar stool and loose kick boards. Man on site was very helpful. Wi fi not strong enough to be useful in all parts of property. Enjoyable break but property not up to usual standards( a bit tired)

  • "The host Tom was great and lived just next door; very welcoming and responsive throughout the stay."

    It was a lovely homely cottage with an amazing view, and great location for activities around Kidderminister, especially if you are a hiker or train enthusaist. The cottage just needs a little TLC, and maybe a welcome pack to make it a little more comfy and user friendly. Whilst the kitchen had most of what we needed, a few extra bits and a larger fridge freezer would make a longer stay easier. The four of us struggled on occasion with just the one shower and some of the other facilities, so proably somthing to bear in mind if you are a bigger group. Would make sure you bring some flip flops to get to the hot tub as small stones underfoot, could do with some steping stones. Wifi and Sky worked well, hot tub was kept filled up and clean throughout our stay, could just do with back cusions to make it a little more comfortable. Top tips: remember to bring toilet roll and cleaning products! And the bellmans pub is just a short walk up the road was great for dinner!

    bedroom doors blew open in night during storm in family room due to the wood being broken where latches should secure them shut big shock to us and the kids as we were in family room, some of the cutlery and bowls were dirty, clothes in drier toiletries in the shower, some “adult” accessories in the bedroom draws thankfully found by an adult not the kids

The property

Nestled on the outskirts of the village of Shatterford, this semi-detached cottage offers a picturesque location with spacious rooms and ample outdoor space, so you will want to return with your family every year.

Surrounded by unspoilt countryside and on the site of the owner's fishery, this property is ideal for those with a love of the outdoors, with opportunities for fishing, walking and cycling to keep everyone entertained.

The first room you will discover is the vast sitting room, containing several sofas and a woodburning stove, with views through the double patio doors out into the lawned garden and the hills beyond.

Providing the perfect spot to talk about the adventures of the day is the dining room, with enough seating for the whole party, and continuing through into the kitchen, you will find a breakfast bar among all the modern appliances you will need for making the group's favourite meal.

Moving up to the first floor, you will find four bedrooms, with the master bedroom having its own TV, so you can experience an added bit of luxury, with the other three bedrooms comprising of a twin, a bunk room and a family room with a double bed and a bunk bed with a double on the bottom, altogether sleeping up to 10 people.

Outside there is a patio and gravelled area where a hot tub sits under a wooden canopy, overlooking the on-site fishing lakes, while the lawned area has outdoor table and chairs for those summer afternoons when you just cannot stay inside.

The fishing lakes on site can be enjoyed by guests, so whether you are a keen angler or a complete novice, it's the best way to get the most out of nature in the peaceful, idyllic setting.

For a bit more adventure, you can find yourself surrounded by wild animals in West Midland Safari Park; 200 acres of land which is home to elephants, lions, rhinos, giraffes and many more, as well as a seal aquarium and reptile house.

Wyre Forest is around a 20-minute drive from the property and home to some of the oldest woodlands in the country, which is now a haven of activities for families and friends looking to enjoy the outdoors, with a Go Ape course on-site as well as opportunities for mountain biking, horse trekking and walking groups, it has something for everyone.

The scattered hamlet of Shatterford lies in unspoilt Worcestershire countryside, on the edge of the Wyre Forest, close to the towns of Bewdley and Stourbridge and four miles north of Kidderminster. One of the largest ancient woodlands in the country, the Wyre Forest is a designated SSSI and National Nature Reserve offering visitors lovely walks and cycle trails and is home to many rare species of wildlife, flora and fauna. The pretty town of Bewdley, once described as the most perfect Georgian town in Worcestershire lies on the banks of the River Severn and offers a good choice of pubs, restaurants, cafes, antique and craft galleries, as well as the Severn Valley Railway. Overlooking the nearby village of Kinver is the impressive Kinver Edge, a sandstone ridge covering 300 acres and offering long distant views of the surrounding area, along with Iron Age hill forts and cave-houses, which were occupied until the mid-1900s, and why not sample the wines at the local vineyard at Astley. Also close by is Stourbridge, famous for its glassmaking and some of the best attractions in the country, including the West Midlands Safari Park, plus Ironbridge Gorge and the Royal Air Force Museum at Cosford are within driving distance. The medieval town of Stratford-upon-Avon, birthplace of William Shakespeare, the beautiful Malvern Hills, Ludlow, Warwick with its magnificent castle and Bridgnorth, along with many unspoilt Cotswold towns and villages also make a memorable day out.
