  • "Burbage View was a lovely place to spend a week exploring the Peak District."

The home was spotless, well equipped and ideally placed for a host of activities and adventures. The kitchen diner opening onto the garden was wonderful! Also very handy for Alton Towers which our grandsons appreciated! The only negative was nothing to do with the accommodation but the partying in the house and hot tub next door which went on into the early hours on our first two nights. As it was warm and we had to have the window open we were treated to karaoke and screaming - not a good mix! Mercifully they went after two days and peace was restored! However, as I said, the house itself is perfect!

Thanks Chris for your very positive feedback and we are so glad you enjoyed your stay. Thank-you also for bringing to our attention , the issue with next door. We take any issues such as this very seriously. Please be assured that we are looking into this. All the best, Lynne and Nigel. Property Owner

It had everything we needed and the views at the back were glorious. It was well situated for getting into Buxton and there were good walks from the house. Communication with the owner was excellent and we really appreciated their thoughtfulness.

  • "We spent 4 nights here with family for our daughter’s 16th birthday with a view of being close to Alton Towers (30mins away)."

The location was perfect, set within the rolling hills of the Peak District, so peaceful with only the sounds of the Ewe’s and Lambs in the fields. The house was beautiful and completely equipped for all of your needs and very clean. The views from the back of the property were magnificent and we loved waking up to those every morning. We couldn’t have asked for more and I should imagine we will return again! Plenty of nearby shops, we tried the local Indian takeaway one evening (Buxton Tandoori) it was absolutely delicious, best takeaway we’ve ever had!

So glad you enjoyed your stay, Vicky. We hope you will stay again. Lynne and Nigel Property Owner

  • "Great place to stay."

Only thing was didn’t like the heating situation been controlled by the owner. We where at work 12 hours through the day so when we got in on a night we like to turn it really hight just to warm up and the owner controls the system so he turns it back down. For 700 a week we should be abale to turn it on and or as we please Lovely place very clean. Also thre is 2 cameras located on the house and there is nothin to notify us about them and it law so we felt like he was watching us constantly. Other then that beautiful place

The comfort of our guests is of upmost importance to us. The Hive controls on the heating system are to allow us to turn the heating down when the property is unoccupied and to make any adjustments for the comfort of our guests. The thermostats can be overridden by the guests but turning thermostats up to 35C to dry your clothes on the radiators is we believe unreasonable. At first, I thought there was a fault with the heating system until you told me about what was happening. Our neighbours even contacted us to tell us that windows were at the same time being left open. You breached our 'no contractors' rule which we agreed to overlook on this occasion. We even agreed to set the kitchen/diner thermostat at 23C for you to use the provided clothes airer to dry your clothes. Your comments about the heating are therefore disappointing but thanks for saying that it was a great place to stay. There are just two external cameras which are there for security and not used to watch guests. Property Owner

About the location

BUXTON

Tideswell 7 miles; Bakewell 12 miles; Matlock 21 miles.

It was the constant 28 degrees centigrade of the bubbling blue waters of Buxton's eight thermal springs that originally attracted the Romans to the town. However it was during the 18th and 19th centuries, under the patronage of successive Dukes of Devonshire, that the Palladian splendour of the Buxton of today was designed and built - including the magnificent semi-circular Crescent, The Great Stable, Hall Bank, The Square, The Pavilion Gardens and The Opera House. Today visitors continue to enjoy these magnificent buildings and gardens, as well as the Opera House's full programme and annual festivals of music and arts. There is good walking close by with rugged peaks to the north and gentle hills and dales to the south and a number of pretty towns and villages are dotted throughout including Bakewell, Ashford-in-the-Water, Castleton and Edale. The stunning properties of Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are within easy driving distance and must be seen while visiting this area. A great base for exploring the Peak District.
